My husband and I have been here many times and felt the food was pretty good but tonight when we ordered the guy(I think he’s the owner he’s usually there at night) practically rolled his eyes I had no idea why. When I said no cheese or sour cream on our veggie burritos he was all perturbed saying they don’t put those things in their veggie burritos(how the heck do I know most places do). Then he said what the total was off the top of his head and we gave him a credit card without ever seeing the price break down so I said something and he got all pissed off so I asked him why he was so angry. It was very upsetting to be treated this way without reason. The only power I have is to never return and to write this review.

If was starving because I am on limited diet meal to get six pack abs I didn’t wanted to exceed on carbs or fats so I up end in getting there beans which was only 88 calories and 0 fat and very limited carbs old man at the drive thru window was very easy to deal with, beans were delicious and healthy any one who is trying to get six pack abs and scared to eat outside or didn’t had time to cook dietary meal in the house. get these high protein beans with 0 fat and very limited carbs.

Delicious, fast, great portion size. Good sauces to dump on whatever you are eating. I had a carne asada burrito and it was excellent. Not the most amazing taco joint I’ve eaten at, but definitely worth going back when in the neighborhood.

This place is your standard drive through mexican spot. We were on a real time crunch after fishing all day and had a pub crawl to get to, so we drove through for a shrimp burrito and it was pretty legit. The service was horrible though. The gentleman at the drive thru looked kid of upset with us for being there. Smiles are free bro.

Well where to start. You know I use to eat here regular about three years ago and the food was really good. A few weeks ago I was craving a California burrito and stopped in. It was very bland and lacked flavor. That’s not the worst, the worst is what came after! Food poisoning! I kid you not. I was sick for five days and missed out on work. I will never be back. If you want good Mexican food please go to Los Poncho’s up the road! Avoid this place like it was the plague coming after your first born

Their food isn’t that impressive. I’ve had much better AND they charge extra for more than 2 salsas would not go back. Not much to say cause there was NOTHING special about this place. You can find way better Mexican food in San Diego

The drive through may be a little funky but the food is the best Mexican on the Point. The street tacos are consistently awesome, the carne asana burritos always the best and be sure to try the breakfast burritos. I would pass on the tamales, haven’t found a Mexican restaurant that does them well anywhere. If you want some good Mexican fast food this place is a sure bet. Been eating here for years!

Food was horrendous! Shrimp on my tostada was FROZEN. When I asked to have it replaced, I received only attitude… Asada was below average. Beans were old. Horchata tastes diluted.

You can always judge a good mexican restaurant by the sketchy décor and atmosphere IMO and with that said you can take one look at this place and know that it’s effin amazing. It looks like a hole. The brick and exterior painting look like they’re circa 1957 and don’t even get me started with the ridiculousness of the drive thru lane that wraps around 2 telephone poles and has no obvious exit to it at any point. I picked up my food and was like seriously??? You basically just keep making left turns like its a nascar race or something. Everyone there could not be more friendly. Any review that says otherwise is full of shit bc these guys have the funniest sense of humor ever. I’ve been many times and I can say that everything they serve is on point. The burritos, the quesadillas, the churros… you get the idea. Their breakfast burritos are legendary. One word though. If you’re on a health kick this might not be the place for you. They don’t skimp on the grease hahahaha. Just don’t say I didn’t warn you. The last thing I will warn you about is that their prices are hella low so you figure no prob I’ll order half the menu then you’re like crap what the hell am I gonna do with all this food. Next thing you know you have a food baby food coma and any other food __________that is associated with eating like you’ve lost your mind.

The grossest Mexican food place I’ve ever eaten. We asked about potatoes & they told us only French fries were available because they don’t make anything in the shop, they just use a bag of frozen fries. I ordered the tamale plate. When I opened the first one there was a long black hair in it. I ended up throwing everything away. The food is gross, the service is even worse. Save yourself a stomach ache and a headache by not coming here.

Menu does not tell you if meat is inside California burrito. There was… Enchiladas are horrible, cheese is disgusting. Man at counter is very rude and doesn’t care at all about customers. I would not eat here again ever. Food tastes bad.

I just went here for the first time today. I thought, what the heck, I live across the street and I’ve never been… might as well give it a shot. I’ve been craving one thing all week and was to have a burrito containing shrimp, with refried bean, and rice. I pulled up to the drive through window speaker, and no response… it was my fault however because i think I drove over the sensor way to slow. Anyhow, I got to the window and ordered from there. They had had no problems with making my custom burrito! The gentleman was very helpful-i forgot his name already, but he’s the caucasian fellow married to Itsa, the owner’s daughter. Very friendly guy, we were busting jokes while I waited for my order which came pretty quick. The burrito was hot, fresh, and yummy. It hit the spot, and cured the craving. Ill be back again!

Crappy enchilada… luke. warm…unmelted.cheese…overly strong enchilada sauce… unfriendly…crappy décor bordering on unclean… Never again… and I. highly suggest you stay away. Only thing going for this place was the unique architecture… horrible place otherwise.

If you can ignore the crazy architecture, the non-existent on site parking, the smell of old cleaning supplies and the grumpy service, you may find a pretty decent lunch with a variety of unique taco shop menu choices. Located at the confluence of Point Loma Blvd., Midway and Sports Arena, just look for the garish red and yellow stripes on the weird round, concrete block structure. Using my normal measuring stick of a beef mixed burrito, I was treated to a well proportioned burrito with fresh veggies sauteed in with the shredded beef. I can’t put my finger on it, and it may have been the smell of old cleaning chemicals in the place, but the burrito had a weird off flavor, which could just be the decades of flavor that their flattop undoubtedly has. The prices are a bit high, especially considering the fierce local competition. My mixed burrito came in at about $ 6, and they have no soda fountain, so you are forced to order cans at an inflated price. They do have a huarache on the menu which you don’t always see, and the specials list has a variety of unique burrito and meal combos. With all of the competition around Point Loma/OB, you can do better, but if you’re in the area, try out It’s A Taco Shop just to reward their incredibly to the point name and their artistic license they used to paint the joint.

Unfriendly service. Super boring bland refried beans. weird colored green guacamole. Fake beef inside the roll tacos. Super classy place no bathroom my kid had to pee in the bushes… Wish I would’ve been patient and waited for Denny’s!

I went here because I was starving and needed something quick. The carne asada burrito was ok and price was good, but the meat was too salty. Doubt I’ll be back.

This place has the best breakfast burritos in town! Cleverly named after the owner(her name is Itsa), this a a local gem to the Point Loma/Loma Portal area. The outside is deceiving and can be intimidating but the food more than makes up for any reservations you may have. As stated, breakfast burritos are awesome! Also Shrimp and veggie burrito are great. My meat eater friends have had the carne asada in all its forms and have said it’s yummy. I have been going to this local treasure for years and have gotten to know the owners and the staff. So all the people complaining about the service, I have to wonder how you treated them. They have always been friendly and professional whether inside or at the drive thru. Fun fact: the owner’s husband is a firefighter and has fought all the big fires in So Cal these past few years. Much respect! Give this place a chance and you’ll want to keep coming back for more! If not, then more for us locals who appreciate Itsa and her taco shop!
