Started with the vegetable Podka, then we shared the mixed grill tandoori and the chicken Korma and the Chana Marsala, All the dishes were fantastic! We sat outside on the patio and enjoyed a nice evening with some after dinner tea. I would recommend this place highly!

Excellent Indian food. The staff was friendly and very attentive. The waiter even turned on the outdoor heater when the sun went completely down and it got cool. I’d eat here again the next time I’m in San Diego.

We wanted to try a new Indian spot in San Diego and thought we’d give this one a try since the reviews were so amazing. It has a nice location in Old Town with a $ 5 parking lot a block away(or you can take your chances with the dreaded street parking). We walked through a nice outdoor eating area but ended up sitting inside. Our server and the rest of the staff were really friendly and courteous. The food, however, was pretty bad. We ordered Saag Paneer and Chicken Tikka Masala, and they were both dreadful. As another reviewer stated(and with whom I totally agree), the Saag Paneer seemed like it was just Tikka Masala with a couple pieces of spinach drizzled in. And both dishes were way too salty and were pretty hard to eat. It all was incredibly underwhelming and disappointing. We barely ate any of it, paid our bill, and vowed to never return. We will definitely be going somewhere else next time.

Love this indian reataurant. The food is great and the service is amazing. Outdoor Patio is great for special ocassions. I had the pleasure to meet the owner Mayor very pleasant and his accent is adorable. He help with the menu, he recommend to get lamb madras with a naan bread which i did, he was right the flavors are amazing!. I will definately be back for a different dish of course with(owner) Mayor’s recommendation.

Great place to get some quality Indian food. Everything is made from scratch in a reasonable amount of time. I would definitely recommend this spot for someone looking to get some good Indian food by the beach in San Diego.

We went here because it had such good reviews. The service was friendly, but the food was quite bad. I love indian food and I’ve eaten it for years at various spots in Southern California. I’m sorry to say that this was pretty bad. The Tikka Masala and Palek Paneer did not taste like Tikka Masala or Palek Paneer at all. Additionally it was so salty neither I nor the others at my table could stomach much of it. It was pretty dissappointing considering how stellar the other reviews seem to be for this place. The staff was very friendly so I feel bad leaving a negative review, but I feel compelled to bring a little reality to these reviews. If they would work on the recipes a bit this could be a good spot… but for now it’s a C– at best. Sorry.

I had the Chicken Briyani and Paneer naan both were very good. Not quite to the same spice level as Little India in Artesia CA… but good for San Diego. People are very friendly who work there. I’ll definitely come again.

The chicken wings are absolutely some of the best chicken wings I have ever had! The meat was cooked to perfection with each bite falling off the bone enabling the sauce to provide a most favorable flavor! Great atmosphere as well: the patio is open and has nice music and lighting along with friendly service!

A great find by my wife! One of the best Indian food places I have visited in the LA-San Diego region! I had their Paneer Butter Masala and it was absolutely awesome! The service is amazing, the staff is friendly, the restaurant location is cool and the food is top class. What more can one ask for! I wish I had more time in San Diego, I would definitely want to go back and explore other items from their menu.

Best service– Best Indian food in San Diego! Owner has gone the extra mile in kindness and service every time we have come. We highly recommend! Today he brought complimentary«chips» for the children, and some special appetizers. You cannot beat this kind of service. But the best part is the FOOD! Delectable! We have korma, tikki masala, Dal, and garlic naan. Mmmm…

I went to Indian Grill yesterday with my family. Good spot, conveniently located near Old Town. We took the open seating option because a belly dancer was going to perform that night. She was wonderful! When it comes to food, we weren’t much impressed. It took them 30+ minutes to serve our appetizer of Paneer tikka and then main course came flowing by quickly. Our Entrée for the night was Malai Kofta and Vegetable Korma with Bullet and Garlic Naans. While we liked the Malai Kofta, Korma was extremely disappointing. We had to ask for salt and lemon to fix it on the table ourselves(it arrived after a second reminder). I hate to do this! Sure, a one-time visit but I don’t think I would go here ever again, considering many other great Indian food spots in the vicinity. 3 stars

Please tell me that I ate at a different restaurant than the other Unilocalers??? This goes down as one of the biggest flops ever. 4.5 stars, absolutely not! Saag Paneer was tikka masala with tiny shreds of spinach in it, see my attached photo. Tikka masala could easily be made from a jar in my Italian kitchen. I came with two family members who know and appreciate authentic Indian food and we were all very disappointed. Café Coyote is more appetizing and I haven’t been there in ages.

When they say«it’s spicy,» they really mean IT’S SPICY! Absolutely loved the food here. Highly recommend the vindaloo curry, biryani and samosas. Great service, cute outdoor patio. We will definitely be back!

I really liked this place. The food was fantastic! For our appetizer, we ordered the special happy hour wings which came sizzling on a metal platter. We also ordered the garlic naan to scoop up all of the delicious sauce. This, in and of itself was quite filling. For our main course, we ordered the lamb tikka masala, the goat kadai, and the pashwari naan. They were all very tasty! Our only complaint was that there could have been more goat meat in the kadai. We weren’t able to finish everything, but still left room for dessert. We had the rasmalai. It’s cheese in sauce that has a delicate flavor and sweetness. It was simply delightful! The owner and staff were friendly and informative. We definitely felt like guests. The interior design could be improved upon, but was comfortable. All in all I would recommend this place for its good food and friendly atmosphere.

This was one of the rare times when Unilocal reviews led me to a place that was truly disappointing. I had one of the worst Indian food anywhere in the world at this place. Imagine having the same cream gravy for palak paneer and dal makhani. This is anything but Indian food. Either the reviews are fake or cook has changed but whatever it is… do yourself a favor and stay away from this place.

Where do I start?!? For starters, I love the location. We sat outside and it wasn’t too hot or too cold. Thank goodness because we were there for a while. My SO had an interview just up the road and he dropped me off with two kids under 5. Yes. That’s exactly how I felt lol. But from the minute I walked in, every single person who worked here was there to help me. My kids were treated like royalty and I was always being asked if I needed anything. That’s really awesome when you’re far from home and alone. I ordered the chicken samosas and naan bread as a starter not knowing my SO was going to be 2 hours! Not once was I made to not feel at home and even though we were there for a long time, the level of attention never wavered. When he did finally arrive we ordered chicken tikka masala, and the tandoori chicken in sauce, garlic naan and papads. Since we are used to eating spicy food we asked to to amp it up and we were not disappointed. Amazing food, amazing service and a prime location. The chef who is also co owner was so amazing. He even gave us tickets for the upcoming circus in San Diego. We are super amped and will probably stop by again for dinner. Thank you for the amazing experience. It was so awesome meeting all of you.

Here is a restaurant that serves outstanding Indian food! Sofie and I enjoyed tandoori chicken, eggplant(it was a special), garlic naan and rice. * The Good * The eggplant was a spicy purée much like saag. The owner/waiter asked us for the level of heat and we choose medium-high. Sofie says she doesn’t like spicy food and when it came and I tasted it, I thought, «God! She won’t like this!!» — but she did. It was very spicy — but unlike a lot of places with heat that burns the lips, this dish had heat without the pain. I thought I tasted a chipotle pepper in it. This surprised me, so I asked and the owner said no chipotle peppers were used. The chicken came out on a iron platter sizzling with onions, peppers and that deep red tandoori color with a bit of char on it that is so delicious. It was quite good! We had the choice of «white» or «dark» meat in the form of «bone chicken» or «no bone». The naan was crispy on the edges and done in the center. It had a fine garlic taste with the slight sweetness of the bread. We liked it. I’m not partial to basmati rice, but it was cooked well with individual grains — full of flavor and was welcome to cut the intense flavor of the egg plant. * The Bad * We went there on a Saturday night and the place was empty. Sofie and I were the only ones there. The bad part is that such good food — and no customers. * The Problem * You may want to go see for yourself. I think this is a restaurant in search of a restaurant manager who can do the restaurant design and see to all the details outside the kitchen. The ambiance was more«wife beater shirt, flip-flops and shorts». This is Old Town San Diego. It appears young people go here to raise hell. They need to create that sort of environment. If I were to design a place like that I’d get a mixologist to create some drinks: «Tandoori Tremor», «Bollywood Bomber»… and the like. The drinks here are beer and wine. The wines are described as «white» and«red». The menus were old with the laminate separating and looked dirty. I thought, «Man! Now I gotta go wash my hands!» Like one of those very old dollar bills you see once in awhile that has been handled by a million people who were down on their luck. You don’t even want to put it in your wallet. Sometimes I’d rather not write a restaurant review but just forget it because no one wants to deliver the bad news to nice people. Sofie and I liked the owner and his wife(I think she was his wife). There was a connection. They are dedicated to making the very best food; but I think they need to re-consider location, experience in the dining room and who their customers are if they want to pack the place out on Saturday nights. If this place was in the middle of an industrial area, I could see it packed out each day. When people are working, it’s all about good food and less about atmosphere. I use to eat in such places in San Francisco all the time.
