Ok here’s the thing… I am terrible at cardio. Like bad. REALLY bad. I’ve done cycling classes before at 24hr Fitness and The Boxing Club(when they were open in Carlsbad). And I’m not gonna lie. When they say«alright increase your resistance!» I’m like. meh. Ok this should be good. Here at Implicit Cycling. There’s no lying about increasing resistance and or speed because there are lights on your bike to get you in a specific zone! What are the zones you ask?! Well let me tell you. First it is recommend you take an FTW(functional threshold watt rate) test. Basically it is a test that pushes you to your max. At the end of the test, they give your number that is customized for you. Enter this number into your bike and during the workout the instructor gives specific instructions. For example. Get your speed to 70RPM and increase your resistance until you are in the yellow zone! So like I said. There’s no lying or trying to figure out what level of intensity you should be at. The bike gives you instant feedback on how fast you are pedaling and how much energy you are exerting. This is what sets this cycling class apart from the rest. Because even though I may not be the best at cycling. The class pushes me to MY limits. It’s like my own personalized class. And that’s exactly what this class will do for you. Push you to YOUR limits. Not the person beside you. Not the instructors. YOU! Don’t worry if you are not able to do your FTW before your first class. Chris or David can give you an estimated number based on your fitness level and you can always do your FTW later. Also be sure to ask them to help you if you’re not familiar with adjusting the bike. Speaking of Chris and David. I feel like I have a love/hate relationship with them. I HATE cardio and they really push me to a point where I feel like I can’t go any further and then I realize. Damn I got 5−10mins left of class! So they push me to climb one last mountain or sprint one last time! And then finally during cool down. I LOVE the way I feel after such a good workout. I started coming here because I’m a member at Xplicit Fitness. But before I decided to start paying for classes at Implicit on a regular basis I bought a Groupon to try it out. And honestly I knew I had to keep this class in my exercise rotation. The classes are small and and it’s really cool to see everyone in the same zone at the same time. It’s not intimidating at all. If anything everyone is really focused on their bike and making sure they are keeping up. The workouts are always different and definitely make you sweat. There’s a reason why it’s a 45min class and not an hour! Sorry for the lengthy review but I just wanted to make sure I covered everything. Bottom line. What Implicit Cycling has done for me is making a girl who didn’t think she was good at cardio, motivated to make me want to get better. And honestly that in itself is a miracle!
