Got the Diego Dog, and I loved it. Fresh avocado. Man working the counter was friendly. definitely would return. Just around the corner from USA Hostels, so good quick place to grab food. Wish I would have found it during the day, but nice that it is open late too! :-)

My husband and I randomly found this place a couple of weeks ago. Suffice to say, we fell in love and will wander Downtown San Diego trying to find it. I love their Kraut Dog and my husband has threatened to sneak out of the house and cheat on me with the Chicago Dog. :-) I can’t wait for our next visit!

How do you mess up hot dogs?! Literally the worst place ever to eat. And the customer service is even worse than the dogs. Go figure

Opened late for those partying in Downtown. They have a variety of hot dogs available & I ordered the one with the cream cheese(who knew cream cheese would go well with a hot dog?!) However, the bun was not toasted & pretty soggy. Chips & bottled/canned drinks available.

Don’t eat here if you are hungry! I ordered the turkey club, it came on nicely toasted torta bread. The menu said that it would have turkey, avo, bacon, etc. The nice lady who made the sandwiches asked if I wanted lettuce, tomato, onion & I did. When I got home to put together our picnic, I found inside the bread approximately 3 oz of turkey, one half of a cheese slice, one small triangle of tomato, 2 slivers of avocado, no bacon, four small lettuce leaves. Same on the roast beef sandwich, but zero tomato… What a rip off. I put the ingredients of both sandwiches together and it made ONE skinny sandwich.

Fast, yummy and who knew cream cheese tasted good on a dog? Love that they sell antacids and breathe mints.

Used to be great, now just overpriced for food that makes 7⁄11 food good. $ 20 for a Philly dog, a roast beef sandwich 2 cans of coke and 2 bags of chips that cost 25¢ at the liquor store. The food is not bad it’s just the realization that you paid three times what is essentially food you make at home and twice more than 7⁄11. You leave feeling broke and disappointed.

Three reasons why this place is great. 1. They have a GREAT vegi dog. I’ve gotten the vegi dog twice with all the fixens and it hit the spot every time 2. They are open late! Great place to go when it is late, everywhere else is closed, and you are hungry. 3. They serve their vegi dog with beer. How many places can you order a hot dog after a night of fun in the gaslamp and get a beer with it? I really appreciate this place. I’m not a fan of hot dogs but there are those times that this place hits the spot. We really need more places like this downtown San Diego.

What do you do when your kids are gone and your boyfriend is out of town… On a beautiful Sunday morning… You go to Spa Valia and follow it up by eating a hotdog, of course! Good dogs here — check em’ out! (It must be the guilt talking!)

Nothing premium about these hot dogs. There are 7 – 11’s all over downtown SD that provide the same quality or better for less than half the cost. I was shopping with my girlfriend and stopped here out of convenience. After I ate the hot dog I felt a little ripped off lol. My hot dog came out so fast I already knew it was going to be gas station quality… or worse. My hot dog must have been sitting on that warmer all morning cause it was terrible and I should have just went to 7 – 11. Then I asked for a cup of water and it was from the faucet lol. I suggest you head to the food court at Horton or 7 – 11 has awesome hot dogs for the money. It’s rare to 1 star a small business like this but I can’t think of anything that can earn them another star.

Phenomenal!!! Excellent price point. Dog chips and soda can $ 7. Any dog on menu! Any sandwich in a combo for $ 9… I had the bacon dog with jalapenos onions and bacon which I substituted relish for onions, it was ready by the time I could take a seat. It was sooooooo good I forgot why I stopped there in the first place.

Not a huge fan, I think they keep their dogs out way past then they should.

Decent hot dogs, but no way should it be paying $ 8 for a dog and a drink. Lower the prices and there’d be more customers.

This place is terrible. The thing is, they know they are terrible and they don’t care because of the foot traffic from the Gaslamp. I am from Philly and I know the difference between a good place and a bad place. To say this place is good should uncover someone that doesn’t understand.

Here’s a case in point about the simple economics of value. If these hot dogs were just $ 2.50 each, I would think that they were amazing for the price and would probably be eating here a few times a week. But unfortunately they’re $ 5 each and that is why I only eat here, oh about once every two years… and I live one block away. And it’s not that I’m cheap because I’m really not. I usually leave a $ 2 tip on a $ 5 meal so let’s just get that squared away upfront. But sometimes you really got to offer something of value to the customer to increase the sales and positive reviews. That being said, let’s do some hypothetical math as to what I think the hot dogs worth and what I think would happen if the hot dogs were this price. So at $ 5 a pop, I have bought a total of 2 hotdogs from here in a 2 year period and on the same day within that 2 year period. But i have lived in San Diego my whole life, 34 years with about 8 years in the Downtown area, 1 block away. 1 person, 2 hot dogs, 730 days or 104 weeks = Total spent $ 10 plus tax Now if the hot dogs were $ 2.50, what I believe they are worth based on quality and freshness then I believe that at least twice a week I’d be getting a hot dog consistently(and I base this on the simple fact that I eat about 1 hot dog a week from 7 – 11 consistently since that too is 1 block away from me. More on 7 – 11 hot dogs later.) 1 person, 1 hot dog a week for 104 weeks which equals 730 days is about 104 hot dogs = $ 260 from one person in a 2 year period. That’s just one person. $ 10 vs $ 260 But let’s also factor in reviews. At $ 5 a pop I value this place to be about 2 stars because the hot dogs are just like 7 – 11 dogs but 7 – 11 is only $ 1.89 and they taste a little better. But if the hot dogs were $ 2.50 a piece, I’d value the place to be about 4 stars because of the value! Now imagine if others felt the same way as I did, then the earning potential for this place would be nuts! In conclusion, I choose 7 – 11 hot dogs over this place any day. At $ 1.89 each at 7 – 11, you can take them home, chop some fresh onions, put a little mayo and BBQ and fresh grate some cheddar cheese and you got on awesome texas dog.(oops don’t forget the bacon)

If you’re just walking around and need a quick bite OR if you’re a night walker and need food, this place is for you. Overall though the place was ok. We went around 8:30 at night and the hot dogs looked like they were sitting on the heater for awhile.

The only time I ever pay $ 5 for a hot dog is if it’s gourmet or if it’s after a night of drinking and my decision making process is impaired. This is one of after a night of drinking hot dogs. Saddened by San Diego’s lack of danger dogs or any street vendor food, I stopped by here. This is not the danger dog I was searching for. This leaned more towards the specialized gourmet-ish hot dog. I got the Philly Dog. The description had me at cream cheese. It was less impressive when I actually got it. It’s basically just a hot dog with Philly cream cheese dumped on top. Not even spread. Just chunks of cream cheese on a hot dog. Disappointing. Though surprising is someone ordered an entire bag of them. What’s wrong with you, dude?

Good pit stop after a couple of shots! Pros: — location — philly dog — they accept card! Cons: — chili cheese nachos Overall: 2 stars. Stumbled across hot dogs @ 428 when we were on our way to our next bar. My friend and i ordered the philly dog which was good, however a bit pricey. We also ordered their chili cheese nachos which would have been decently good if they gave us some chips! We literally had 4 real size chips in there, everything else was crumbs which made it extremely hard to eat. We had to use a fork because the chips weren’t big enough for us to scoop out the chili! I wouldn’t choose to come here on a regular day, but definitely a good pit stop when you’re drinking in downtown.
