Someone from heaven sent desserts emailed me and address my concerns and the issue that happen. I tried to delete the initial review but not sure that can happen.

Good customer service once you walk in. This is in the heart of North park(SD) desserts are indeed amazing, drinks as well. It’s a bit pricey, but for the quality of food it’s worth it. Parking isn’t the best, hard to find at times, walking will be your best bet. It’s what you would expect from a street parking location.

I really enjoyed all my visits at their old location. My first time into their new spot wasn’t as good. The chocolate caramel tarts aren’t nearly as good as the old ones with the salt on top. I tried one of their newer creations: Midnight Delight, almond sponge cake, milk chocolate mousse, and orange crème brûlée filling covered in a chocolate glaze. It was okay, not enough chocolate flavor really to call something«midnight» but because I love a lot of their cakes and hope they’ll bring back the old tarts I’ll be in again.

Went in tonight for dessert and ordered the carrot cake and peanut butter joy to go. Seemed a little over priced at $ 11.75 for both but whatever. The peanut butter joy was alright and the carrot cake was good until I found a pubic hair in it. Disgusting. Will never go back.

Checked out this spot on a whim after a beach day and craving something sweet. I was lured in the the Unilocal pics of their huge selections, which upon arrival was good. They only had one employee working on a Saturday afternoon, so there was a bit of a wait. It was no big deal the lady working the counter was super polite, and very apologetic about the wait. Now for the desserts, we got a tiramisu and a raspberry swirl cheesecake. The tiramisu was great, and the cheesecake was ok, not bad not great but ok.(I may be a tougher critic because I make cheesecake all the time) All of the desserts had a beautiful presentation. There is no menu with prices on display or at least I didn’t see any. Maybe there’s a pamphlet but the large dark board only listed coffee drinks. The venue is a bit small, not much room if they get busy but I think a lot of their business is cakes and catering? $ 14.25 for two desserts. All in all I’d say it was ok.

Been here for years and have always enjoyed their desserts. After their move to the new location, the level has really gone down. The space is smaller so they can no longer bake their desserts on site which causes the fresness level to go down. They used to decorate their plating but not anymore. You pay the same high price and get a simple sl9 ce on a white plate. I really hope they step up their game or else business is going to continue to go down.

I used to go a lot, but now that they moved to a smaller location it’s okay. I really don’t get it why they moved, they don’t have a big selection of pastries, cupcakes or etc. I used to go for the chocolate banana cupcakes and they don’t have them no more. There used to be huge lines in the old place because they had tons of pastries. Now it’s so empty. The portions got smaller and prices got bigger. I really don’t get it. Why have a successful business and change it . I know they care about the cake business but what about the dessert lover clients? Everytime I go in, I always ask for the usual and guess what that doesn’t exist anymore. Business wasted :(

How could you guys do this to me! Ordered a the burbon bread pudding to go and arrived home only 2min. away to find it wrapped in plastic wrap and fresh out of the fridge cold. Was I supposed to cook it myself? I expected something warm and ready to eat not something I have to rewarm!

As a sweets lover, this is a wonderful place to take anyone for a delicious dessert and for a nice setting to just talk and relax. Heaven Sent Desserts is located in the North Park area of San Diego just ten minutes or so from downtown. They serve a variety of desserts that are made on site as well as serving coffee and other drinks to accompany your dessert choice. There is a very touching story behind the name that is worth a read on the website — which was a tribute to a military friend killed in action. One of the desserts we wanted to try was called«Irish Angel» — a chocolate cake with a couple of layers of Bailey’s Irish Cream Crème brûlée. The other was a sea salted caramel pie. Both were awesome, but my favorite was the Irish Angel. Other items that can be found on the menu from time to time are Naughty Angel, T’s Guinness Stout Chocolate Cake, Bittersweet S’mores, and Sunday Bloody Sundae. This is definitely worth a visit, especially if you are visiting near by Balboa Park. They also have happy hour from 3 — 6PM.

We came to get our sweet tooth fixed. We got their chocolate Crème brûlée($ 5) because we wanted to get something different beside the original crème brûlée. And absolute love this! It wasn’t overly sweet or the chocolate wasn’t super chocolatey and the sugar on top was super crunchy! My only regret was sharing this with my boyfriend.

This is an okay bakery. For the price per slice of cake I was expecting more. We had the red velvet and strawberry friese. Both were average cakes, but nothing really stood out in the taste or presentation. It is small bakery with a few tables to sit at. It can get very packed inside. If I was in the area and wanted dessert, it would be an option, but I would not go out of my way.

Ok look. I’m just going to give it to you straight — it’s not that good. It’s not, but you want it to be — and you think it should be — and that makes you think that it is, but it’s not. It’s just not. I might even go as far as to say I’d rather have a Vons bakery selection. Too far? Maybe slightly. But almost. I have given you a few many tries. I’ve made excuses — maybe I ordered wrong, maybe I’m in a bad mood, maybe it’s an off day… But you know — no. It’s none of those. You’re just a mediocre bakery and that’s ok. You’ve clearly made enough of a name for yourself despite this. And obviously plenty of people disagree with me. On a brighter note — I hear that the happy hour is pretty legit here. And the presentation is beautiful. Plus the staff is always super nice and helpful which really makes everything better. Clearly I’m the minority and plenty of people have rave reviews of Heaven Sent, so go on with your bad selves and check them out for yourself. But when you’re left a little disappointed, remember me.

5 stars for their desserts! The service is great too. However I give it 3 stars because new location has a completely different vibe. Not the kind of place that you want to hang out in to enjoy your goodies. They once served the cappuccino in a mug and now it’s no different than a Starbucks paper cup. Next time we will skip the coffee and grab a dessert and go.

I didn’t know they moved to a smaller place next few doors. I remember I was here a year ago. They’re still busy because of their heavenly yummy desserts. I ordered my fave vanilla crème brûlée as usual ! It was Cloud 9 ! Heavenly deliciousness !!! Kids ordered lemon cheesecake and chocolate mousse stack daymmm so creamy! Well, I was happy I came here because I had a stress week at work. Stressed spelled it backwards =Desserts! Lol!!! I needed it! Tonight it was busy, crowded and loud but I didn’t care. I’m glad it was Friday! TGIF!!! Also they have a happy hour daily from 3:00 — 6:30 pm

This is by far my favorite dessert shop. I have on many occasions gone out of my way to bring friends in to try their delicious desserts and have countless times ordered cakes for birthdays and family get togethers. I pre-ordered a cake for my partner’s birthday and picked it up one hour before the party. Upon opening the box I discovered that they had taken a pre-cut cake out of the box and written on top of it. This is completely unacceptable. How is he supposed to blow out his candles and cut his cake when the cake had already been cut? This will be the last cake that I buy from heaven sent desserts.

NEWLOCATION on University Ave: no bueno and I feel sad for the bakery because it was forced out of its original location as the owner is going for more«hipster» restaurants. Doesn’t NP have enough places for meals, but not enough for desserts? Srsly?! Anyway, the size of the bakery is significantly smaller: less tables & seats, smaller service area, just everything. This means their selections also decreased significantly too. Both desserts and drinks included. You still see some of their signatures. I picked up the tiramisu and the red berry mousse. The former too sweet and dry for me, but the latter was delicious. I do worry for their out of the neighborhood business. Because what’s the point of driving 10+ miles just to pick something up and leave instead of sitting down and enjoy some company with some dessert and tea/coffee? This will be even harder than before. All the best!

Was a little disappointed. We mostly stopped by because they had the sign advertising that they had been shown on Food Network and we pass by the dessert place every time we are in town. Some nights it’s super packed inside. The first thing I didn’t like too much is that majority of the desserts they have inside are chocolate based and I’m not a chocolate fan. That immediately left me with about 3 – 4 options with chocolate lovers having at least 10. I tried the mango mousse and it was good, but it wasn’t great and it wasn’t the best I’ve had. Porto’s(up in Los Angeles), now that’s some mango mousse and it costs about 1⁄3 of what Heaven Sent Desserts costs. Boyfriend ordered the carrot cake and the slice was HUGE, so you definitely get your money’s worth for that one. Boyfriend said he was disappointed in the carrot cake and had about two bites before he called it quits. We brought it come and he said he would eventually finish it, but he agreed that he wasn’t impressed. I ordered the volcanic chai and it was a nice alternative to regular chai lattes. I like my chai lattes on the sweeter side, but this one was more of a dessert chai. On top the drink had some caramel drizzle sprinkled with black salt. The salt and the caramel were a nice finish, but it’s definitely not a light drink to have. For two desserts and two drinks we paid $ 22. That’s kinda ridiculous. I don’t mind paying higher prices, but the quality of the food has to live up to the prices and expectations.
