I wish I had gotten the name of the lady I had… Because I’m so sore after today! First time in to Happy Head and I got the 90min«Happy Head» massage or whatever, where they focus mostly on your upper body. Every time she brushed over a knot I got disappointed because I thought it was going to be ignored(as has been done at other businesses)… But she grazed over the tightest areas… And came back with a vengeance. She asked many times if the pressure was okay, which I greatly appreciate. She definitely dug in and went to work on the massive knots I carry in my shoulders/neck. I will be visiting again before I leave Sunday! Great price too!

My massage this weekend was awesome. The staff was nice, the place was clean, and Ben did an excellent good. I will definitely be back… worth every penny.

I am visiting from out of town and stopped in to get the hour foot massage. It was just what I needed to start a holiday weekend. Great job.

Amazing deal for the Asian head and foot massage. At only $ 35 for a one hour massage, it really doesn’t get better than that! Zarly was also extremely accommodating and made sure that my husband had a female masseuse as he requested. Overall a wonderful and relaxing experience that we will definitely do again.

I got the happy Head massage with Lina! Seriously so amazing. It really does melt away the stress. I went in feeling so sore and tight, left with a smile just as advertised! Totally coming back and they have a stamp card buy 14 get your 15th free. Just so happened I came on a Tuesday which is double stamp day!

My husband and I received a gift card, so went in as a couple, everything was fine until my guy came in & he had just had a cigarette. I’m not a smoker, it truly was the worst! I should of said something right away! His breath, hands & shirt smelled the whole time & I really was grossed out! Not a good thing to do! It was horriable !
Just an update. Alan is no longer employed with them — which is a darn shame as I thought he was incredibly talented and a great therapist. I revisited recently on back to back days and did the 90 minute fusion with Isaac. It was good and accetable, but not up to Alan. He worked hard, but may have been new. The next day I had foot reflexology with Mia, who had a grip of steel. Man, she ended the foot part of things with an incredibly excellent, extra firm back massage. Top notch.

Wow I was impressed! Great price $ 55 for an hour full body massage! I like the fact that they use a hot towel to wipe your back down when they were done. I got the Swedish and my husband got the deep tissue and they put us in the same room. My massage was great. He used the right amount of pressure and I wasn’t in pain like the last massage I had at another place. Overall it was a great experience. We will be back.

I came in for a last minute body massage and they were able to accommodate me. As I was waiting for a room to open up for my massage, I was browsing through their t-shirt merchandise. I found a shirt that I wanted, but they didn’t have my size at this location. The receptionist located my size at another location and offered to mail it to me. I highly suggest this location due to the level of professionalism, friendliness of the staff, and the quality of service I received from the beginning to the end of my visit.

I am repeatedly pleased with the customer service here; it is incredible. The front desk staff is efficient and genuinly friendly. The services have felt luxurious, and masseurs are each thorough and professional. I appreciate the phone call confirmations of online appointments, especially since I’m usually able to get an appointment in the next few hours, which is a little unbelievable(read: a lot awesome). I absolutely recommend Happy Head, especially the outstanding Midway location!

Me and my boyfriend went in for a couples massage yesterday for Valentine’s Day. We got there and there were two front desk girls, one was quiet and was assisting people in line while the other called me and my boyfriend up and we stood there for 5 or so mins while the other girl helped people behind us and our girl talked on the phone. Our appt was at 3, we got escorted back at about 3:10. Luckily our massage time didnt be in until we entered the room, we got there early it would have been nice had our massage started at our appt time. But whatever. I’m in the industry I have worked for spas for 4 years, I found it really odd that we weren’t introduced to our massage therapists. We were walked back by a lady at the front desk told to get undressed and lay face down, then the therapists came in. I had no idea what they looked like, or what there names were. In the beginning for about the first 5 mins both our therapists kept talking to eachother which was really distracting and frankly just annoying. And I could tell my boyfriend was hating his massage. Every time she asked he would say«less pressure» or «you’re being really rough» at one point I heard her say«oh my god» neither of us know why she said this. At the end of the day she gave a really crappy massage and I don’t know her name because was never told it so sorry. My guy who I don’t know his name gave an excellent massage and kept quiet and he is the sole reason I’m giving 3 stars. Ps the rooms look like a jail, there empty dark tan rooms you can see the open sign on the window hard beds, with very thin rough sheets. I’ve been to cheap massage places that have nice rooms, this sucked. Over all crappy experience other than my guy, no idea what his name was though. Looking for a cheap place, id check out karma in hillcrest, it’s $ 10 cheaper than this place, nicer rooms, and we’ve had better experiences

My friend has been raving about their Asian foot massage, so decided to go with her. I had a rough holidays and really needed a massage. It does cost more here than your typical Asian foot massage, typically they cost $ 20, but here it is $ 35. I’d say it was actually worth the little bit more money. My friend and I wore tank tops, they do the massage through your clothing. The masseuse used good pressure, I was definitely feeling it the next day. My masseuse didn’t smell of cigarettes, which is what I typically get of other Asian foot massage places. This location seems very clean and not shady. I can’t say there are very many shady Asian massage places anymore, they’ve all been busted by undercover cops or from customers outing them. I’d say try this place out, you won’t be disappointed.

Be still my heart. Happy head has won me over and I forgive you for my previous experiences in the past. I was dragged into here by my friend who forced me to get a massage here. I was very hesitant in even lying down due to my previous experience with the cleanliness. I dont know if management gave their employees a stern talking too about the changing of the towels but I appreciated it when I saw towels being changed when I was there. My masseuse… he was EXCELLENT. Probably the best masseuse I’ve had at any of happy heads locations. I forgive you happy head and thanks for following up with the cleanliness factor from my last review.

I came to this location about a month ago due to having sciatica and lower back pain from my pregnancy. I was almost 7 months pregnant during this time. I usually request a masseuse, however due to the severity of my pain, I decided to try a man’s more firm hands to really relieve the pressure. I purchased the 60-min prenatal massage. The atmosphere was gorgeous and it relaxed me as soon as I walked in. However, the man who I was assigned with,(I forgot his name, he was an older Asian gentleman) was terrible. The pillows given to me provided absolutely no support for my growing belly or aching back. He hardly spoke any English and when he did speak, I could barely understand him. One side of my body he worked on for about 20 minutes and then when I switched to the other side, he took about 30 minutes. It wasn’t even, it was uncomfortable, and at times, his hands went up just a little too close to my comfort zone when he was massaging my legs. He was sighing, as if I was a burden or something. At the end of it, he spoke so quickly and left within seconds, I didn’t even understand what he said. I thought the massage was over but I wasn’t sure. I waited on the table for about 5 minutes. When I realized that it was in fact over, I walked out(back still aching) and was escorted out to the front desk where he waited diligently for his tip that I gave anyway due to guilt. Happy Head, please don’t have your therapists walk out with their clients. I understand it is out of courtesy, however, it makes the customers feel obliged to tip. And as for the massage, it was by far the worst massage I ever received. My back hurt more than it did before. and that isn’t an exaggeration.

Came here after an overly drunken night and a full walk day at the san diego zoo. I was toe up! hehe like beat up from the feet up, bur for real though. I was so tired and sore every movement felt like death. I know, im overly dramatic. Anyway, i called last minute for 3 people and they immediately fit us in. THe receptionist was informative and nice, the place is clean and very relaxing. The only reason i knocked a star was bc my guy didnt put enough pressure, even after me asking but overall it was still a decent hour reflexology for $ 35. P. s. it’s a little weird in the end when your massage person stands there by the cash drawer waiting for you to tip them. Haha it’s a little uncomfortable so make sure you have cash on you bc you can’t tip on card.

After two days of running myself ragged around the San Diego Zoo, U.S.S. Midway, and museums, this place is just what I needed. Only cash tips are accepted. I loved my massage therapist and was planning on tipping her well — but it was horribly awkward for her to stand in the lobby while I withdrew money from an ATM(and asked the receptionist for change!). It felt like a forcing mechanism — like how sometimes hair stylists will literally place products on the reception stand as you go to pay. Maybe management wants clients to hand people tips directly? If that’s the case, please spare us an uncomfortable situation and tell us to ready our cash beforehand!

Our first day in San Diego, we drove by this place and giggled like little 2nd graders at the name of this place. The next day, I was so crazy sore after walking around the SD Zoo for a good 8 – 9 hours the day before. So the BF kicked into solution-mode and booked us a couple of massages at Happy Head. We totally lucked out on getting quick appointments. In roughly 30 minutes of that phone call, we were on the massage tables. I will admit, the fact that we got appointments so quickly made me skeptical about the quality. But that was quickly dissolved by the zen-like atmosphere and professionalism of the staff. You also can’t beat the price! $ 48 for a 1 hour Swedish or Deep Tissue massage, full body. I’m a bit of a wimp so there were times I requested the masseuse to lighten up on the pressure. She was always accommodating. I went in with crazy achy hips and super tight calves. I could barely move. Whatever magic she did was impressive! We walked out of there at about 5:30pm. By 6pm, we were walking around Old Town San Diego like no big deal. At 9:30pm, we walked from Seaport Village to Gaslamp Quarter without a hitch. We took the long way too… roughly 1.5 miles. My fitness tracker logged about 13,500 steps that day. Completely forgot how sore I was. I wish Happy Head had locations in LA. Despite only being available in San Diego, we got a stamp card just in case we plan to revisit the next time we’re in town.
