Beware! Had their food over a month ago and had one of the worst stomach aches I’ve ever had that lasted 5 days! I will never return. It’s a shame since I used to stop by from time to time to get food to go from here, but after that terrible experience, I will never return.

Wow! The men behind the counter are surly! I noticed that some of the food didn’t look fresh(brown spots on the broccoli and mushy brown mushrooms) and the guys ignored me. They gave me noodles when I wanted rice, not even offering me a choice. I will never come back. Awful!

I love coming to this place the food is great. But its 10:12 in the morning and you open at 10 but you’re still not open. Does no one know how to come in and prep? this is not the first time you have not been open on time so now you lost a customer because I have to go find somewhere else to eat.

The food at Great Khan’s is alright for mall food, but after my last time there, I probably will abstain from now on. I’m a Stir Fresh addict, and there really is no comparison between it and Great Khan’s. Some of the things that I like about Great Khan’s is basically the buffet element to it and how you can customize your meal by choosing your own meats and veggies. Here are the things that I don’t like. Ok, fine I get that they want to put your noodles in your bowl for you to keep people like me from piling as many noodles as possible on top of my veggies. That makes sense. However, I really am not a fan of not being able to completely customize my sauce choices. Sure, I can say yes/no to each type of sauce, but I feel like there really isn’t much differentiation between them, especially when they add their own sauce as the bulk of the moisture. I feel like the overall taste is somewhat bland. Overall, I won’t be back not because the food is terrible but because I’d rather just go to Stir Fresh when I’m in the mood for noodles and just stick to the other places at the mall when I’m there.

I work in the area and come here for lunch at least once a week. I am a vegan, making my lunch places somewhat limited. I alway get the veggie entrée, which is less than $ 8 and includes tofu. The produce is fresh and varied. There is this employee, who may be the owner/manager because everytime I come in he’s there, who lets me get extra veggies because I don’t get noodles. Though everytime I’m there, the employees are friendly and helpful. In short, its a lot of good, healthy food made quickly and inexpensively. I highly recommend.

I don’t know if I can say 5 stars about a long-time staple at a mall food court, but this has been my #1 at Horton Plaza for years. Something about the setup seems a bit dodgy, but once you see the finished product your stomach will tell you it’s OK to devour every morsel. When I bring this back to work, it’s like people are having a religious experience from the smell. My eyes are up HERE folks! Oh and here is the clincher… they have sriracha!

The food is great here thats not my complaint. My complaint is with the employees who worked there. I ordered my meal as i always would and as i scooted down to begin filling my bowl with the frozen food i realized that the employee at the register had forgotten to given me my drink that came with my order. When i inquired about the whereabouts of my drink, he rolled his eyes at me and grunted as if i was not worthy to drink. I felt disrespected. As i got to the noodle portion of my meal, the employee behind the counter gave me a very small portion of noodles, i would understand if my bowl was overflowing with the other frozen foods, but mine wasnt. I asked if i could have more noodles and he said he’d have to charge me. i wasnt too pleased with that. Lastly, when the employee behind the grill began to cook my food, i noticed that the grill had not been cleaned or scraped in what seems a long time. I had old food residue in my noodles when i was eating it. The food still tasted delicious, i would just appreciate it if they treated me and my food with a little bit more respect. Great Khan’s is a great place, but this particular location didnt really fly with me. I suggest finding another place to eat or at least another location.

I’ve had better Mongolian. The guy at the register rudely yanked my debit card out of my hand. 9 dollars for a combo, overpriced.

I love Khan’s. I’ve been eating since 1999, so I know what it tastes like. The best part of this place is when you’re starving and you go up the escalator and the first thing you see right when you reach the food court is the big«Great Khan’s» sign. You’ve reached food nirvana.

I love this place, but I bet the guys behind the counter hate hate hate me. I go here when I plan on having lunch and dinner at the same time. Here’s how. 1) go with a friend 2) grab their bowl and yours 3) fill one bowl with meat to the brim use the other bowl to press the meat down to make room for more meat 4) repeat step 3 for the opposite bowl 5) broccoli on the edges of the bowl to extend the bowl’s perimeter 6) use added perimeter to fill with additional toppings to your liking 7) they have wisened up and now top you off with noodles, whereas in the past you can create a mountain of noodles. 8) sauces. 9) listen to the sizzle, top with sesame seeds and sriarcha Seriously, this food is good and somewhat a surprise to find at the mall of all places. Proteins recommendations, beef and chicken Toppings recommendations: tofu, onion, tomato, mushrooms, zucchini and pineapple. The Good: since you create your own bowl, it is really up to you as to how good you want it to be. The Bad: located at the mall Verdict: I’m gonna go get some right now.

Meh. Relatively expensive at $ 9+ and honestly not better than your average super-cheap fast food Chinese food place. Food isn’t all that wonderful either as your sauce choice is pretty much drowned in their generic add-on-all-plates sauce. Runny noodles in watery sauce with some still-raw veggies. Novelty factor in the ‘buffet-style’ choose your veggie, frozen meat, and sauce combination, but otherwise not worth the price. Considering the ‘yummy-yummy-chicken-terriyaki’ a few stalls down that offers you better tasting grub for two-thirds of the price, easy choice for me when I’m at Horton Plaza for lunch.

While a far cry from real Mongolian cuisine, Great Khan’s offers some of the best food you can find at Horton Plaza at comparatively reasonable prices. In pseudo-Mongolian fashion, you prepay for a bowl and then fill it up with your selection of frozen meats and fresh ingredients from a buffet style self-serve area. They then add your noodles and stir fry the resulting mix while you watch. You have the choice to opt for white rice on the side instead of the noodles. The whole process no doubt looks and feels cool, but the end result — your $ 8 «Mongolian» lunch — tastes, well, okay. However, certainly you could do much worse, and it’s a relatively healthy option — so not a bad deal overall.

Food is great, but the cooks have a sh**-talking problem… Expect to be harassed if you don’t tip. I used to go to this place all the time but I think I’m done…

This is one of many restaurants in the mall, near the movie theater. What makes this stand out compared to other Mongolian Restaurants(NOT Chinese– I hope Unilocal adds this category), is that they’re convenient for shoppers or movie goers, and, unlike most Mongo Beef places, they don’t weigh the food– they merely charge you for a bowl of the stuff YOU select to have them flash cook for you on a huge flat grille. Although it follows the pattern of most Mongo Beef places, this one’s a tad better in that it’s cheaper, the ingredients were absolutely fresh, and you could sub extra veggies instead of noodles, making it, suddenly, a very good choice for those of us(me!) on a low or no carb diet. The staff is very nice, as well. Give it a try!

I’ve loved Great Khans ever since it came to existence in all the San Diego malls. They have great and variety of choices of meat; which includes pork, beef, turkey, and chicken and various vegetables. You can pile them as high as you can and afterwards they give you a lot of sauces that compliments all these flavors together. You can also see them cook your noodles which can be quite fascinating. The food can be a bit oily sometimes, but I think the food taste fantastic. Just try not to eat too fast because it’s HOT!

Recently i was downtown on Jury Duty and it seemed like everyday, i ended up at Horton Plaza! There used to be one of these at Plaza Bonita and for some reason when the conversion happened they did not stick around :( I always wondered if ever i would have one of these huge dishes again! :D So i stopped in super excited knowing i would pile my plate high with all of the delicious ingridients they have avaialable. To my amazement there was more topping then even those avaialble at Plaza! I was in LOVE! Amazed and star struck i began the magestic PILING and added more and more until there was no more room. mushrooms and bell peppers kept rolling off the top and i finally gave in and gave the man my plate… They added the various other toppings i liked(garlic, soy sauce, lobster sauce, HOTSAUCE… hey i am mexican!) and then proceeded to cook it all up on their circular hot plate… thingamajiger… There is a picture posted… you can check it out! LOL! Anyway… they serve it up hot… It has gotten much more pricey than I remember but then again… this is more food then a regular serving you can feed a small country with as much food as is served… well either that or COMEHUNGRY!

Great meal for some Horton Plaza people watching. Wish they had lamb, but at least they’ve got pork. If you dont like what you get here, come back and try a different combo. Eventually you’ll find a mix you like. My advice? Keep it simple. Dont try to load that bowl with a little of everything or your taste buds will get confused.
