I’d seen this place many times passing but was always kinda put off by the looks of it but today I finally got around to trying it. I was very pleasantly surprised. It’s one of those little hole in the wall dinners that don’t look like much but make up for it with great food and for a decent price. I got a Bacon Avocado Breakfast Burrito for $ 4 bucks! Can’t beat that at most taco shops. This place was a find, this visit will be the 1st of many.

Service was not satisfying! The menu was confusing couldn’t make a choice of sides when there was a selection.

First time here. The French toast is bomb! Wonderful urban discovery! We will be back! Support the local establishment.

Inexpensive regular no frills food. I was hoping to have the Chinese buffet I read about but they don’t serve it anymore. Hubby had a patty melt with fries. I had teriyaki chicken. It comes with white rice, shredded cabbage with a light dressing, and eggs. Didn’t see that coming. I liked the serving size for the fries. It wasn’t a huge plateful, it was a single serving, just the right amount. With the iced tea the bill came to $ 15.37. We will go back… this joint is much smaller than I expected.

Been coming here for years. I remember when it used to be on the corner really back in the day! Love it here. Good food with a great price. The portions are hearty as well! The service is great given that there is only one waitress serving everyone. I would highly recommend this place.

I don’t know how this place doesn’t have more reviews! it’s always busy, but there is not a lot of wait time. I have been coming here for the past 10+ years. Since I was a little kid, probably early 2000’s. The place has remained the same & the waitress has been the same since i remember. She is the only waitress, but she gets her job done. George’s serves breakfast until 1:30 p. m which is good. Their prices are great and their food is too. i love this place. Their pancakes are delicious and their hash browns too. They also have chinese food in the afternoon. It is mostly families and the elderly from the senior housing from across the street come too. I highly recommend!!!

This dive has good food at great prices. I had the twin plate(two eggs, pancakes, and sausage patties) for $ 3.99. Eggs were ok… the pancakes and patties were good. My wife had the breakfast burrito and loved it. We’ll definitely go back.

If you like diners and dives, then you will dig George’s. This place is truly old-school, with friendly service and mega-low prices. My husband I went here for breakfast, and discovered that many of the specials were under $ 5. Unheard of! These all included pancakes, which didn’t quite fit our fancy, so we went up a couple bucks and got a hamburger combo for him and the corned beef hash combo for me. The huz was surprised when he received not one but two burger patties with his plate of hash browns and eggs. He also enjoyed their iced tea(sugar-free, so add your own sweetener if you like). I was happy with my hash and hash browns(is there such a thing as too many potatoes? HELLNO!), sopping up the tasty yolks from 2 over-easy eggs. They even had a choice of different types of bread, so I ordered rye. All that for $ 6? It’s a crazy deal! Some have referred to George’s as the«poor man’s Denny’s,» which seems apt, since it’s pretty no-frills. But I would say it’s better than Denny’s, since their prices are much cheaper and their food is pretty darn tasty. They also serve Chinese food for lunch, which we will have to check out next time. In the words of the Guvinator: We’ll be back!

I really dig this place! Every time I come to San Diego I stop here for breakfast. For a little hole-in-the-wall place, the food is great and inexpensive. All the breakfasts come with home fries(red potatoes with onion and bell pepper) or choice of hash browns. The the spicy sausage(hot link) breakfast is my favorite! The omelets are great! In fact, everything I have had from here has been good. I highly recommend this place. The only drawback is that the place is small. I peaked into the kitchen and the kitchen was very clean.

Would’ve given them 5 stars had the answered their phone. I called and called in hopes of placing my order then just being able to pick it up. Food is great and prices are phenomenal. Steak and egg breakfast for a small $ 7.50! Can’t beat that! Other than that. They were pretty quick about it and very kind people.

This is kinda a hidden gem, very few reviews do to the digital divide I suspect. It’s clean the food is good, and the waitress is nice. No frills here just good food.

I found this place while getting my car worked on at the nearby Honda Acura T-T Auto Service. I came in to find a really basic place with breakfast foods and a small chinese buffet set up. It’s really not very fancy inside. In fact it’s almost ghetto but it sort of fits the neighborhood. However, the food and service was very good. The spanish waitress was very prompt, professional, and good. She took the order almost immediately and the food came about 8 min later. I ordered a basic breakfast of 2 eggs scrambled, 2 pancakes, and 2 sausage links. The eggs were prepared very nicely and perfect color. The pancakes were thick and fluffy and perfectly cooked. The sausages were a little small but what do you expect for $ 3.50? I thought it was a bargain. I would try their omlettes the next time. Again, the food here is very basic breakfast food but well prepared. The ambiance could get an improvement but I think they need more customers and money before they could do that.

Edible & clean, but so very bland. A fine choice for Gramma, or little Timmy who hates every flavor except butter. Smoooooooth jazz played overhead. Soooooooo appropriate. But it fills the tummy for $ 5. Bring your own salsa. ‘Cuz dang if the salsa ain’t bland too.

I don’t vary my favorites at restaurants too much. Once I love something, I stick with it, seeking perfection, in this case just the right combination of taste and price(probably weighing more toward price). When you can get a meal for an amazing price AND it’s good food, the rare confluence of culinary and economic excellence gives me in a state of pure bliss. I work this way with my standard 2 eggs, hash browns/home fries and toast/french toast weekend breakfast(often post-partying on the previous night). George’s is my new #1 spot for this particular combo. $ 3.99 gets you home fries with bell peppers and onions(!), four slices of sourdough toast with generous butter and the two eggs. And it was a huge portion of home fries. My partner ordered the veggie omelette(with broccoli and avocado!) for $ 5.99 with the home fries and toast and enjoyed it. I also noticed a breakfast burrito with avocado for $ 2.99 and they had an eclectic mix of Korean BBQ, Chinese food, Mexican food and American greasy-spoon style stuff. I have to admit, I’ve lived in City Heights for 2 ½ years and never gave George’s a chance due to the dark exterior that prevents you from being able to see inside the restaurant from a car. Once inside though, it was bright and clean, the waitress was nice, and they were pumping out some smooth soft jazz. I like the breakfast combo at Margarita’s in OB(includes tortilla chips and salsa!) and the one at the Antique Row Café in Normal Heights was a-ight but George’s definitely has them beat on portion sizes and slightly on price. It’s our new morning-after breakfast spot, especially since they started serving breakfast on Sundays now.
