We love this place! Nothing better than a morning walking in the swat meet and then eating delicious tacos de birria! Miguel, who i think is the owner is so nice and friendly. He makes you feel welcomed and always keeps you updated and checks on orders like a normal employee. Their consome is so good! Ive brought so many of my friends (some not mexican) here and we all love it!

Based on some less-​than-​stellar service at our old go-​to in Imperial Beach (sorry, Kiki), we decided to give this place the full on acid test this last Saturday morning, and hit ‘em with a massive multi-​person order of pretty much everything on their menu– Tacos, Quesobirria Tacos, a bucket of Birria and all the fixings, to go. If you’re not in-​the-​know about this South Bay gem, you’d probably pass it 3 times before you figured out where it was– Very inconspicuous, and the most telling feature would be the mob of people, many of them well dressed, and a total lack of parking surrounding this converted 4-​spot apartment building.
As expected, the place was packed with starving stew hunters (heh heh), many of whom were eating there. Despite the large showing of Birria Zombies, we received our rather large order, with a very generous helping of onions, cilantro, limes, salsas and tortillas in about 5 minutes! Once we got our bags of tasty meats home, we were treated to some of the best quality Birria tacos and quesadillas this side of TJ. There’s no way to quantize the taste; it’s just «right».
For a few people, including the beautiful Johana, the taste seemed blander than some. The recipe here is very homemade… Kind of like Abuelita makes. You’ll need to salt, chile, lime, onion and cilantro-​up your stewed meat to your taste– That way everyone is happy. But the base broth, the quality of the meat (just fatty enough) and the general taste?
The best in San Diego. Yep– I said it. Recommended!

Best tacos de birria ever in SD!!! Every time I come here I feel like I’m in tj!!! It’s so delicious!!! The quesadillas are bomb!!! The aguas frescas yummy yummy!!! And the flan!!! Delicious!!!

This was going to be BF’s 3^rd time in a month… My first. and I’ve had birria before… meh. so went we went to Fernando’s I wasn’t expecting much. I asked «are the beans and rice good at least?»
No rice!
No beans!
No problem!

haven’t been in a while just because this place is always full. but this is probably the best tasting birria around. used them for birthday oarty too and everything went great. quesataco if you love cheese is super good.

One of the best places to get birria in SD. Horchata delicious. Salsa hits the spot. And birria is the best. Will have to get the small order next time I come.

Diamond in the rough– This is definitely THE BEST little hidden gem in this part of town. My friend brought me here a couple of weeks ago and I’ve been hooked ever since. The birrira is amazing, juicy tender perfectly seasoned meat wrapped in a warm tortilla and dripping with deliciousness! My favorite here is the quesataco– it’s basically a birria quesadilla but with handmade fresh tortillas wow blows your mind! It gets super busy but they move quick so if you see a small line don’t be dissuaded, trust me your wait won’t be too long, and if it is… it’s worth it!

I have struggled to write a review because I love this place so much and the wait is already long on Sundays. If more people hear about it my wait might be longer. Today the wait was 30 minutes. People just stand outside in the parking lot. Some wait in their cars. They do have two benches to sit on.
The birria is the bomb. Reminds me of Sunday breakfast with my parents in Houston. The café de olla is a must. Try it exactly how it is. Honestly I crave the café as much as I do the birria if not more. I went with my mother in law and husband and they wanted to buy an extra café de olla to take home for later.
The place looks like some apartment buildings. There is a guy that sells apples outside on the weekends. Not sure if he also sells on weekdays. They are 1 for $ 3 or 2 for $ 5 and they are yummy.
Service here was amazing. The servers asked us so many times if we needed anything. I liked the cheese birria tacos the most. Both salsas on the table were amazing. I really like this hidden gem.

Excellent service I’m a fan of birria I try birria everywhere but this place uff it’s amazing plus the quesa taco you need to try this place 100% recommended !! Plus AAA the price

I use to love this place, but I’m sitting here still waiting for my tacos as the rest of my group has finished eating. Horrible service. Never coming back here again

This is by far the best birria I have ever had. The only negative is that they are always packed and you have to wait but it is well worth it. The birria, conzome, tacos and menudo are all to die for. Now when I think of birria, I think of this place.

Excellent Food! Great Service!
As soon as you walk into this place you’re greeted with a smile and a warm welcome. The staff is friendly, attentive and make you feel right at home.
The broth from the birria is flavorful, delicious and the meat is tender. It’s accompanied by a nice selection of condiments, toppings and tortillas to enjoy with the stew.
For those who haven’t been, I would definitely recommend checking out Fernandez Catering.

I’ve probably driven past here at least 5,000 times and never noticed it. Now, I will never drive by it without wanting to fill my face with their amazing birria. Friends have been coming here for a long time and always tried to get me to go and I always said no. I finally went today and will add this place to the regular rotation. sofa king good!

Best «Birra» in Town and they also he have great folks that work there to give great Customer Serivce that always make me always feel like family. Very small place but the serice is fast. But best believe I will always be a customer for Life.

Best place for Birria! Exactly what you would expect when you are visiting Jalisco, the real stuff! So good, it can get really packed sometimes so be patient it’s worth it :-) hits the spot every time on the weekends when you are hungover! Life saver!

I’ve had the birria from this place several times at work and absolutely love it.
Today we actually went to the restaurant and was blow away by their customer service. The birria was perfect like always. I’ll be coming back as soon as I get a chance.

Went here the other day and this place is definitely a hole in the wall. It looks like an old apartment complex that’s been converted to a small taco shops restaurant, but don’t let that fool yeah. There was a lot a of people waiting to be seated in the parking lot so that’s always a good sign.
The staff was friendly and we didn’t wait that long to be seated. All their meat is birria so if you like birria, then you have to try this place out! I ended up ordering 4 tacos and consome con Carne. The consume came with tortillas and I believe they were home made. Everything was delicious and I started to get full after the 2^nd taco.
If you like authentic Mexican food, especially birria then I highly recommend you check this place out if you’re in the south bay.

I haven’t had birria tacos since I can’t remember but my boss took my co-​workers and I all the way down here for lunch. When we arrived, it looked like a little apartment complex and it made me say, «where did you take us?» I kept an open mind. We waited outside for about 5 min (it can get packed) and got seated.
Ordered 4 tacos and consome. It was soo good, I was full after the 2^nd taco.
Great service. Their quick and friendly. I definitely want to come back for more consome and also try their queso taco!

This food is absolutely amazing, never had anything like it before. So I ordered 12 queso tacos and birria Togo. Hands down this is the most authentic and best Mexican food I have ever experienced in my life! From the meat to the herbs everything well marinated and made with love. To top off my experience the owner was very welcoming and showed great hospitality. This place is a true gem I can’t wait to come back.

Awesome place, best birria in town. This is small restaurant however Customer service is superb. Make sure to call ahead or come in early to get a spot.
