Fantastic Sams

I went to this Fantastic Sams looking for the stylists mentioned in the reviews but none of them were working that day. The stylist that was there was Melanie. I have thick hair that I wear on the shorter side. I explained to her what I wanted and more of what I didn’t want. When I go for a hair cut it is almost always cut too short even though I say don’t cut my hair too short. Melanie did a great job. My hair bangs were not too short nor was the rest of my hair. It was shaped nicely and I am very satisfied.

We’ve always been very pleased with this studio. There is a really good vibe from the manager/​owner, who is very involved in the operation, and the stylists and front desk personnel are always upbeat and friendly. There is rarely a wait, and there is a small but good selection of specialty hair care products available for purchase in the lobby, and free coffee if you’re so inclined. We’ve had several different stylists over the years, and my kids (15 and 11) like the fact that they are consulted first, if not last, in their haircuts.

I’ve been coming here for nearly three years. I have never left unsatisfied. I’m always made to feel welcome, and everyone is super friendly. I’m not going to tell you the name of my stylist because I don’t want her overbooked, but she’s wonderful.

Dana is amazing. She did an excellent job on my daughter’s long hair and she was super fast, actually faster than any other stylist before, and still did a super job. Dana took her time to listen to what we wanted. She has a special touch. She has a very nice easy going personality too! Looking forward to another hair cut with Dana! I’m so glad we found her :)

I love this place! I’ve been here several times and Molly is the best hairstylist ever. The stylists take their time with your hair and don’t ever rush their jobs. The staff is very friendly. I would highly reccommend this place!

I always go here for my haircuts with Dana. She is an extremely skilled hairstylist and has the personality to top of off. You truly can’t beat their prices for the excellent service provided. I highly recommend getting your hair done at Fantastic Sams, especially with Dana.

Switched from a nearby salon due to a friend’s recommendation. Only regret: I didn’t come here sooner! Kysin is an amazing stylist. The head massage he performs while washing your hair BEFORE and AFTER the styling is worth the cost of admission. He is the most exacting and detail oriented stylist I have ever had. I will never leave this salon!

I have been coming here for the last three years and have never had a bad experience. Everyone here seems very professional and good at what they do. The prices are fair and now that you can actually make an appointment same day, I am really happy with this location.

Fantastic Sams??? This place needs to be renamed to «Fantastic Arianna»!!! Arianna is always upbeat and cheerful (so is the rest of the staff… but Arianna is just cooler). I enjoy having my haircut at this location because the Staff and the environment is ALWAYS GREAT! Thank You FS Clairemont Staff for always being AWESOME!

I have gotten my hair cut by 3 different stylists at Fantastic Sams and they were all great! It’s easy to get in without an appointment and since every stylist is good, you don’t have to worry if your favorite is busy!

Been getting my hair cut here for 10 years!!! All the stylist are great!!! Chris cuts my hair but I don’t mind using someone else if he’s not available. Everyone is fast and friendly as well.

I have been going to Fantastic Sams for 8 years and Dana is the reason. Without her I would be partially bald by now. Dana takes her time and gives each client her full attention. She knows what is needed just by looking and touching your hair.
I just had an appointment with Dana 2 weeks ago. The following morning when I went to work I received several compliments on my hair from they liked the cut to my hair looked shiny and bouncy.
The only reason I did not give this establishment 5 stars is because they keep changing hair products and have less items for women of color. Fantastic Sams you have a very diversified clientele… we all need hair products. As for Dana I give her 10 stars.

I just got my hair cut here. The wait wasn’t too bad, even though they were busy. Tamarae cut my hair, and she was awesome. I got exactly what I asked for, and it looks great. I will definitely recommend :)

I consider myself to be a Customer Service Aficionado.
I have a passion for delivering exceptional and seamless customer service in my career, and I have always quietly observed customer service happening around me.
I am a spontaneous girl and I walked by this Fantastic Sams and thought, «Let’s do something crazy with these lox.»
I walked in and spoke with the receptionist, who was awesome and soon Taylor joined out brief conversation.
I could tell that Taylor and I were on the same page.
I made an appointment for the next day and here we go…
Taylor and I had a connection. He knew exactly what I was talking about, repeated back to me to clarify that we were indeed discussing the same thing. (That is advanced customer service.)
By the time my cut and color was done, he and I were finishing each other’s sentences as far as styling!
I had a great time with him. I will be coming back to him for sure.
Overall, the staff all seemed very friendly and actually really liked each other– that is rare.
As I say in many of my reviews… Customers have to participate in Customer Service. They have a part to play. I am saddened to see less than 5 Star reviews for this place… But not all customers are good customers.

Hard to get the stylist you want when you want but if you do they do a pretty fair job. Main front person is really courteous too!

Ever since I moved to San Diego this has been the spot I keep coming back to. I’ve tried dozens of other places and I’m always disappointed and over charged. For some reason I always end up back here!
The girls are all very friendly and remember my name, the cuts a precise and done meticulously, the price is fair if not amazing compared to other salons and the convenience is incredible.
Not if but WHEN you decide to go ask for Mickey!!! She’s the best and I swear by her steady hand.

Convenient location. It seems like they close earlier than other FS salons that I have been too.
Pricing is the same.
Small lobby so not many seats for waiting around for your cut. This could be good for other retailers because your wandering around killing time, possibly spending some cash at Marshalls.
Staff is decent. Haricut was quick once we waited 20 minutes.

WHEN WILL I LEARN???
I was offered a deal on Unilocal so I decided to go to Fantastic Sams. I went in to trim all the ends off my hair and get it colored. The gal was nice enough. The color came out just the way I wanted. The way the hair fell after it was cut was so-​so.
About a month later. I’m noticing a TON of breakage! :((
This type of place is great if: 1. Your a child. 2. Your a teenager/​young adult 3. You want a hair cut and it doesn’t really matter if you look good 4. You have no other alternative financially.
I walked out of there paying about $ 100 for a cut and color.
