Ordered the cheese enchilada plate. The cheese wasn’t melted, the rice and beans were lukewarm. Expensive — $ 11.00+. Won’t be back, too many better options.

We came here for a quick lunch on Sunday, and everything was just«okay.» They do have a large selection, and they serve breakfast all day, which we liked. Sooo, I got the Chorizo plate(Chorizo w/eggs, rice, beans, and corn or flour tortillas). The beans were runny and very uninspired. Ate only a few bites. The Chorizo/eggs were fine, but nothing in them except Chorizo and eggs, and bland — Chorizo — bland? Too bad! My husband’s burrito was just«okay» also. The server at the counter(woman) never cracked a smile. She wasn’t unpleasant, but seemed like she was just«going through the motions». I guess working at a place like that isn’t inherently inspiring, but she seemed joy-less. Sad. With other fast-food Mexican food in the area, we probably won’t be back. Oh well, it was worth a try.

Lacks taste. Can improve on the meat quality. guacamole was a bit watered down. Service was good, nice and friendly staff. Quick with orders. Only complaint is the food isn’t that great.

They took over the Taco Shop. Ugh!!! Such a disappointment. I ordered the 3– rolled shredded beef taquitos, it was more like a rolled corn tortilla. Plus, they didn’t have guacamole, and still charged me $ 3.98. No, never going back. This is in Poway

My wife and I had some breakfast burritos here while waiting on some car service. We both thought the food was tasty and prepared quickly. The burritos were large so we probably could have shared one.

Simple, small. Just another good starter place for those military personnel that want a gateway experience into San Diego mexican food. Pros: — Simple, straight forward menu without too many choices/distractions — Fast service, got my order QUICK — A lot of parking space Cons: — Not that clean(this can be a «plus» towards authenticity) — Natural-tone workers(not bad, not good, they r mostly«striaght-to-business» mood) — Tucked away, hidden behind other buildings closer to Miramar Road. Simple details for this simple place: Other than maybe seeing D’Soto’s sign from Miramar Road, you won’t be able to see this place unless you turn into the plaza and go past the 2 buildings that are closer to the road. The parking lot shares it’s space with an Indian market, a small mom-n-pop pizza place, and a martial arts /gymnastics place. D’Soto’s itself is very small. Probably only going to fit ~24 people sitting inside. Plain atmosphere/décor. Most people get their food to-go. So décor is not a factor cause there isn’t much. Service is quick, not just because they are quick to cook your order, but the staff is very straight-forward. Not that talkative or cheerful, just mostly business. I tried to see how the cashier was doing whenever I went, and they would just reply with«Its going well…» then they wait for your order. They dont give off a bad vibe, its more«oh k… so… what would you like?» The food itself is alright. Not THE best, not THAT unique, but not bad at all. I’m a burrito guy, specifically a Surf-n-Turf guy. Their’s is alright. There carne asada is good. Sizes of the burrito is good. Nothing small where i can hold it with one hand where my fonger tips would touch, but nothing huge where it looks more like a brick. Since this is across a Marine base, i would say this place is perfect for those marines that are new to SD and have no car. They just have to walk across, order a carne asada /Cali /surf-n-turf to experience a «gateway-drug» into SD Mexican cuisine. Would i come back? Most likely if i wanted my burrito fix and i dont want to deviate from my route back home from work. Would i recommend this place? Only to those living on base that cant go far or those that never had SD Mexican food. Why 3-stars? Because i definitely had better, but this place is alrighty to me :)

The food here is great and they make the best burritos and Mexican food around Miramar but if you go there at the opening time posted on the door be prepared to wait 25 – 30 minutes because they do not show up on time. If you need to be somewhere then don’t go here, you will be late.

This place is great! I had the Carnitas platter and a soft drink. $ 11 and there is no way I could finish all that food! The tortillas were hot and looked like they were homemade. Nice selection of tasty sauces. Even refried beans were good! This is not a fancy place by any means but the food is down-home excellent! I will be eating here whenever I’m in the area!

Pretty good Mexican food. So far only had the regular taco and rolled tacos which were pretty good. Standard service for a hole in the wall taco shop.

I’ll never go to this place again went and ordered a breakfast burrito the guy swiped my card then face me the receipt then called me and said that he can’t make it because it couldn’t charge my card. But I checked my card and it was charged. He tried to ask me for my card again to try to charge it twice. No way! I wanna find corporate for that place but it’s probably just the people who work there. I’m livid though and I will never come here again

This place is awesome! I use to go to Vallarta’s up the street, but decided to give this place a try. I will never go back to Vallarta’s. This place is BOMB! A little more pricey, but worth every penny. The Cali and carne asada burritos are $ 6.94, but are bigger and contain more meat than most places. The quality of the carne asada is top notch!!! The best around Mira Mesa/Miramar. And their house salsa is spicy! They have other options too! Soo good!

So bomb! this restaurant is within walking distance from where i work. Sadly I only have a 30 minute break. Always call ahead!!! They get really busy at 12pm & its pretty small inside since it is packed with people. I shared a Carne Asada Fries &5 Rolled Tacos with my co worker and everything was so good! They have free chips and a salsa bar which is exactly what I’ve been looking for at a restaurant for a while! I’m so sure to the free chips in San Francisco & it just seems like it’s not a thing here. I will definately be back for more lunch!

This place hits the trifecta for Mexican food and I can get pretty picky when it comes to my Mexican food GREATBURRITOS FREECHIPS MULTIPLEGREATSALSAS The breakfast burrito with ham(the #1) makes me come by at least once a week. The burritos and the burrito selection are great. The california, the executive or the surf and turf all rock. And when a place is offering free chips and salsa what’s not to love. They have 4 or 5 different kinds of salsa too. Love the chunky red and the guacamole like green. A place must have 2 great kinds of salsa to be good in my book. Only downside of this place is the .50 cent charge for any credit/debit cards. I will say the prices are a little high as well, but the funny thing is you can get a surf n turf burrito or a standard california for the same price which you never see at other places. Pretty much every burrito comes to $ 7.50 after tax. Makes it easy for ya. if you’re in the area DONOTGOTOJUANBERTOS on Miramar a block away. No one is ever there because it’s just gross and they dont have free chips and salsa and they charge $ 1 fee for credit/debit cards. D’Soto’s for life!

Many years ago say 2010, they had great chefs and great customer service. When they used to be Palomino’s. For some reason there has been a drastic shift towards economy over any quality. Taquitos used to be amazing so while i haven’t tried these lately they would be a good thing to test out. I occasionally see the salsa bars with a big scoop of ice into each salsa, effectively cooling the salsa but also watering it down and generally reducing the already low quality. i used to come here as breakfast cuz it is on the way to work: the sausage breakfast burrito is just-ok, and the last time the milanesa(flattened breaded chicken with sides) was dry and not really tasty. low quality all around :/sadly, worth 1star because i have been evaluating it for a long while now. The cashier, a younger guy this time was very cordial. sadly this surprised me for the shop. i have had experiences where I would call in the order to-go and when i arrive JUST then the cashier would put my order in right then making me late to work and clearly this lady didn’t care. otherwise there was a lady I think her name was Martha who was Always Always smiling and friendly and nice :) OVERALL my simple summary: mehhh

D’Soto’s SD: Mira Mesa Tuesday 2pm 5th March 2013 Four Stars In a strip mall off Miramar road, there is a little Mexican food shop with some amazing eats. Today, I had a BRC burrito with a bag full of Spicy Carrots. The portion was big, the prize was small, and entire experience was great. Cannot wait to return for some more carb-tastic food.
