I’ve been to this location a couple different times. Both times, I’ve been able to find clothing easily, there are many different sizes, and everything looked neat and tidy. I typically don’t need much help when I’m out shopping, just for the dressing room. Both times I was there, associates were able to be found quickly. Upon check out, there was always someone near by to assist. My dresses have held up well! I always get complemented on my dresses from here! I’ll keep coming back!

The customer service here is horrible. I bought a dress jacket and a pair of shoes on Tuesday and came to return them the following Sunday. I wanted to return the jacket because it didn’t fit properly and the soles of the shoes had torn from the shoe itself. Not only did they not have a record of my purchase, but the manager claimed I had lied about getting the jacket because she hadn’t seen it in the store. «I got it from the clearance rack. It was the last one» I said. She actually rolled her eyes and told me I couldn’t return it because she didn’t believe I’d bought it from them. As far as the shoes are concerned, I explained that they’d ripped not even a week after purchasing them and her response was«I can’t return these, they’re ripped.» THAT’S WHY I’M RETURNINGTHEM, BITCH! I put in a complaint with the corporate office who helped me quite a bit, but I’ll never shop at the Mira Mesa location again.

Do not shop here! The worst customer service ever! The people working there were very rude. I waited near the register for service and they said(rudely) «we’ll be with you in a minute.» So I waited and then they took another customer ahead of me. I put the hand full of clothes I had in my hand back and walked out. They lost a good sale!

Nice selection of clothes. The prices are moderate. The staff seemed unorganized but helpful nevertheless. Another Unilocaler commented that the plus size clothes are on the left side of the store and that’s true. I don’t see the problem with that. Why would you even look at the clothes on the right side if you know you can’t fit them?

Who would shop at a BARN. Right? I would! The name is misleading, I always thought it was a cowgirl shop of some sort, but no. Think Macy’s women’s dpt. They have everything from petite sizes to plus sizes. However, they always seem to be out of the small sizes. Rarely any Xs’, but when they have them I AMONIT! The girls are always helpful, but they seem to be understaffed. They seem to only have 2 girls working at a time. Somehow though, they seem to have it under control. Reason why they don’t get my full 5 stars… Well, they need more SMALLS and EXTRASMALLS, oh and smaller shoes and pants in size 2’s… Pleeeease!

I probably had the worst shopping customer service experience here ever. Came here with my mother to help her look for an outfit for a party that we were going to. One of the ladies offered to help us out which was very sweet so we continued looking around and my mother found some outfits she wanted to try on. After trying on some shirts my mom asked the sales lady if she could put one particular one hold for her because she wanted to go home first to see if she already had something similar to what she tried on. The sales lady asked her if she wanted anything else perhaps something cheaper. My mom said no then the sales lady continued on insisting there’s a lot of other things on sale she could try on. She even continued on saying we could put this shirt on layaway! It was just downright offensive! We just asked to put the shirt on hold and we’d be back. My mother decided that she wanted to buy the shirt after all and we came back to the store literally an hour later and lo and behold the same lady looked at us confused even asking us what the shirt looked like and she forgot to put the shirt aside and was practically rummaging through the rack to find my mother’s size. What an experience!

Their dresses here leans a little bit towards the maternal side but I was able to find a nice dress here to wear to my college graduation. I got it off the clearance racks for $ 40 after markdown. This place is a good place to buy work clothes but it’s expensive. I didn’t like their jewelry or shoes here because they looked bulky and not very stylish. I thought it was interesting at how the clothes here are organized. All the plus size dresses are on the left side of the entrance while the slimmer dresses are on the right. So if you’re a plus size woman and you like a style on the right side(or vice versa), chances are you won’t find it in your size.

I don’t like dresses, I don’t like wearing them unless hubby buys them for me, then I’m obligated to wear them. Came here with a girlfriend to find her a dress for her vacation. Umm, no, do not come here, she couldn’t find anything that fits her! And she’s a small, the small ran rather large, I guess. Very disorganized place and not so clean either. No thanks.

I don’t generally wear girl boots. You know, the kind with a skinny heel, some sheen, a delicate toe. Maybe it has to do with my childhood, and these patent leather numbers my mom forced me to wear with a green plaid shift I loathed. I have a picture of me hanging from a jungle gym sporting those boots, and in retrospect, I looked kind of fly. But in my barefoot, beach-combing, 7-year-old consciousness, I was being tied down when I wanted to be tie dyed. To this day, I dress like a hippy, man. Boots I wear today are worn leather, belted, chunky heeled, dangerous. And frequently seen under a noisy, bangled skirt. This works at most nonprofits, the chosen career path of most hippies such as I. But now I’m at one with a dress code. An eight-page one. My days of clod-hopping as I «save the world» are basically done. And now it’s cold, and we can’t afford a heater in said office. For the first time in my life, I want me some girl boots. I rolled up to the Mira Mesa mall after Christmas, in full vacation shopping mode. Near the soon-to-be-extinct Mervyns, I spied the Dress Barn. What made me think I might find boots in there I do not know. But, I opened the«barn» door to the sound of an abnormally loud bell, and was immediately descended upon by a salesclerk. She wanted to know if I knew what I wanted, paused to examine my blank expression, then answered herself aloud that I would know when I saw it. Then she flitted away unobtrusively. I liked her. I found their girl boots at the back of their store and, just like at Payless, pulled out my own boxes. A different salesclerk rushed over, and uttered the obligatory«Are you finding everything OK?» I asked for footies and she pulled some off a nearby shelf I should have seen myself. And then she disappeared like the first clerk. Now herein lies the problem: my skinny calves. Up walked the sales clerk who’d greeted me when I’d first arrived. She asked, with a cute Dr. Phil-like inflection, «How are those boots working for you?» They felt too big, I said, unsure of myself because just how are girl boots supposed to fit anyways? She agreed with my assessment and began to offer some advice, as I turned to the mirror. But then, silence. I turned around and she was gone. I went back to wading through my sea of girl boots, and finally settled on a pair that were slightly loose but workable. That was when I overheard a reprimand. Someone(a manager?) was telling the nice clerk that she should have asked me if someone else was helping me before, apparently, having the nerve to be concerned about my calves. The second clerk now owned me, by virtue of handing me a footy I could have found myself. I thought: How tacky, dressing down this poor girl in front of the customers. The footy clerk appeared again out of nowhere, and by then I’d settled on a pair of boots. It rankled me a bit to see how she took over my box and rearranged the boots with a hurt expression, as though they belonged to her, as though some damage had occurred that must need be rectified. I reluctantly handed her my card. Meanwhile the nice sales clerk slinked off somewhere, looking side swiped, when really, she had every right to say she helped me first. Like I said, I’m a hippy. Social justice is my bag. I get a catch in my stomach when I see someone getting run over. It’s innate, I can’t help it, and I’m proud to say, it’s something my daughter has somehow inherited. I put those boots on when I got home, and you know what? They just didn’t fit. I could have made them work, but it wasn’t the size. It was the dressing down at the Dress Barn. So the next day, I took them back. Back to hippy boots for me.

i went here to buy an out-fit for my 2 year wedding anniversary. The clothes are just my style, but maybe a little to big for me, I’d probably need to alter them. I’m not complaining about the clothes, just the customer service. why does it seem like every time i go out, i get the worst customer service. C’mon now!
