I was a bit disappointed in this hike due to my higher expectation. From the photos I have seen on Unilocal,it looked like a lovely place to hike and while the photos looked great, my visit was anything but. First off, I know this is my fault, but I went on one of the hottest days ever! This hike has no shade what-so-ever so not the brightest move on my end. Second, it was completely dry, water and all. The photos on here show lovely green mountains whereas my trip showed brown desert. I probably wouldn’t give this hike another chance, even on a cooler day.

Always get your pass to do this hike(they will be checking for it before you enter the hike), only $ 6. They have water, bathrooms before you start the hike, but nothing once your out there. Pack plenty of water especially in the summer, I had to run out to beat the night. Pack a flashlight! The water fall wasn’t going too much this time but I will have to make my ways back for this was a very unique set up. I had a really relaxing time once I got to the boulders viewing the waterfall, ate my lunch and just took it all in. It is a very easy hike down, but make sure your prepared to possibly double your time trying to make it back, the path is very steep and sandy. I did see a few families who finished this hike when I was coming in, but I don’t know how well kids would enjoy this hike in a hotter time of year.

Instead of hiking down to Cedar Creek Falls, hike up to Devil’s Jumpoff. This hike is on a dirt trail and should be done after heavy winter rains. Instead of turning right onto Thornbush continue straight and park at the end of Ramona Oaks road. Please the attached photos.
