Cash only the night I came because the computer was down. Then they were out of blue moon. Very hot inside also. Maybe just a bad night.

Lunch at Deck 12 was more about opportunity than choice. Between checking out of the hotel and getting to my seminar there was little time for anything else. Unfortunately I arrived to find the restaurant staff very nearly overrun by the morning rush. Apparently I wasn’t the only visitor hoping to catch a quick bite before rushing to my next appointment. The guests ahead of me in line were frustrated and vocal with their complaints. Very vocal. The staff responded in the only way they could; they apologized, they hustled, and(at least 2 out the 3) did their absolute best to try and address everyone’s needs. I have to compliment them on their extreme efforts. The woman who had waited on me the day before recognized me and even managed a casual«hello,» «how do you do?» and«here’s a menu» as she swept by collecting waiting customers and escorting them to freshly cleaned tables. As I took the opportunity to sit at the bar I overhead one of the complaining customers say, «wow, they’re really hustling.» A moment later the storm seemed to have subsided and I had the chance to order coffee, orange juice, and poached eggs on crab cakes. The orange juice was slightly bitter and the coffee we nothing to speak of but the poached eggs and crab cakes were quite tasty. The hash browns which accompanied them were perfectly crispy. It was a good but heavy breakfast and I had plenty of time to leisurely eat and before heading to my class.

Average hotel bar that is not happening and does not get crazy. it is also not that great for picking up hotties. haha. it is good for having a drink within walking distance in this area because it is practically the only good bar around.

I work in the same building as this restaurant, on the office side. When the Sheraton had the hotel I had eaten at the 12th floor restaurant and it was slow and the food was terrible. A girlfriend was coming to lunch. I love how Declan Suites redid the 12th floor after they took over the hotel. I thought I’d give it another go. We stood at the hostess station for 5 minutes before asking someone from the bar to help us. Two people went to the hostess stand and fumbled looking for the correct menu. Lunch? Dinner? I only count two. Okay — breakfast — three. It certainly shouldn’t have taken 2 people 5 minutes to get three menus together. We sat down. The restaurant was not full. There was a party of four who sat down 10 minutes before us, and a larger party in the back who were already eating. After we sat down, two other diners showed up. 15 minutes later, I had to go to the bar again and ask for a server. The server showed up, gave us our drinks. I had to flag her down again to order. The party of two were by then getting their food. My friends’ orders came out 15 minutes in advance of mine; by the time my food came, they were done eating. So were the other two diners. My food was pretty crappy($ 19 for an entrée, btw — better to treat yourself to a manicure), so it was definitely not worth the wait. At the end, nobody came by to ask if everything was okay, and I had to track down someone to take our credit card payment. I have never had a worse meal in my life, nor worse service. In fact, they should have to pay me to eat there again. Worst. Restaurant. Ever. Seriously. If your hotel is run like your restaurant, then it’s pretty shitty indeed. Bottom line: The restaurant is like a young, vapid hipster. Cute, stylish, but no substance. NEVER. AGAIN.

Had a great breakfast and excellent service! I enjoyed the corned beef hash with two poached eggs topped with hollandaise sauce. I am particular about my corned beef hash and this was excellent. I was very pleased. I will definitely come back for lunch and dinner!

I’m only giving 3 starts because the service was really slow. It was not busy and despite the server being very polite he was kind of awkward with us. It was nice that he warned my niece about how spicy the chicken tortilla soup was when she ordered. I got street tacos which were a little bland and the carne asada was chewy. Loved the guacamole. The drinks on the other hand are what gives this place the the starts. The grapefruit mule was Amazing. My husband had something with citrus as well and really enjoyed it. I also tried their melon drink which for me was too sweet but I could see the draw to it it was never busy so we didn’t have to wait for drinks and it was quiet and relaxing.

Great service! Why isn’t is posted that happy hour isn’t done on symphony nights. How am I supposed to know when or what symphony nights is? I’m not from San Diego.

We went for the happy hour and were very satisfied with 3 appetizers. The tater-tots were amazing! They come in a cone covered with blue cheese and bacon. Yum enough but they are also accompanied by ketchup and a dipping sauce I’m assuming is a mixture of ranch and buffalo sauce. Next came the A Street Tacos. I had been severely disappointed in the tacos I had at another restaurant the night before so I was reluctant to try again. My husband ordered the tacos and I SO glad he did. The beef was well seasoned and tender and each taco had a generous amount of guac that really made all the flavor a melt in our mouth. We decided to order the sliders as we saw them being brought to a nearby table. They were delicious! There were two on the plate and that was enough for us especially with the other two appetizers. I would definitely recommend Deck 12 especially if you are staying at the Declan Suites and have spent the whole day walking around the Zoo like we did.

I’ve been here several times, both when this was the Sheraton, and now as Deck 12. Always a great experience! Terrific drinks, excellent food. Relaxing atmosphere — either before the symphony performance, or as a destination to meet friends and enjoy the ambiance. Even if you are not staying at the hotel, it is worth coming over just to hang out.

This restaurant at The Declan Suites was recently redecorated and is quite wonderful now(old and tired before). I went there for drinks and light appetizers before attending the symphony downstairs. The symphony started at 8 pm, so we got to Deck 12 at 6:30 in order to have plenty of time and not rush. We sat at the bar. By 7:45, we left … having been served exactly one glass of wine each — the bartender simply never came around or caught our eye — and having NEVER received our order! We watched two other couples come in, sit at the bar, get served drinks and food, eat and leave … but we NEVER received our order!

I odered the Chicharon Chilaquiles. I am Hispanic and this is the best Chilaquiles dish I have ever had, besides my moms. The dish is on another cuisine level. The plain pancakes had good flavor on their own. Lastly, the coffee was spot on! This is more upscale and dishes are ala carte but worth it. There is enough so you can split a dish like my wife and I did.

Came in for breakfast on vacation. The restaurant is beautiful: great light fixtures, cool setup. The menu is delicious. We ordered the chorizo burrito and the eggs Benedict with crab cakes. The eggs come with potatoes– don’t bother with them, the poached egg on their crab cake was divine. The chorizo burrito was perfect with the just picante enough tomatillo salsa. What stood out the most was the staff. Jessica and Gilberto were wonderful: incredibly attentive, quick with coffee, helpful, and very sweet. Will be returning for the great service and to try out the short rib hash.

This is a fantastic hotel bar! My husband and I stayed at the Declan and found ourselves at Deck 12 several evenings. The atmosphere is great! The staff is friendly and welcoming! The drinks are super yummy! Most importantly, the evening bartender, Chris, is extremely nice, personable and fun! He always had a smile on his face and gave impeccable customer service! I would highly recommend this bar! Will definitely come back again!

Okay so the Declan Suites is an awesome place to stay, the on site Bar and grill leaves something to be desired though. While visiting we had drinks during happy hour(Still way over pricers) and couldn’t get the bar tenders attention for almost 20 minutes AFTER our glasses were empty. Then we tried breakfast which wasn’t terrible but for 45.00 for 2 seemed steep since we had pretty basic breakfast fare. Over all the Deck 12 could use some major staff training, they are all very nice but no one seems to know what is going on. We were hotel guests and were treated like our business because we were 30s and dressed casually. 100% recommend the hotel to stay at, don’t count the onsite bar and grill as a plus tho

The customer service sucked the bartender was rude and a totally diva attitude! No hostess and we went around 6:30pm there busy time and happy hour. We were staying In the hotel so we figured we try it. Disappointment no waiter and when we did have one no customer service we were a party of four and we got two menus!!! Wth. We got up and left. Not worth the time or the money.
