Absolute rip off. Sent my laptop after giving them $ 299. They kept it 3 months, never have returned it .Only after repeated calls did they respond to tell me that they couldn’t retrieve anything. They drag it out long enough to make sure the credit card pays off. DONTUSETHISSERVICE

Hard Drive Data Recovery, AKA SCAM. See Update 2. So far, not good. Apparently work is not done locally, your drive is shipped off. I’m having difficulty getting email answered. The 24 hour service has not been 24 hours. There is an 800 number but they’ve contacted me through email and I would expect that to be their preferred communication method. Drop off for the drives is at a Regus office, which is essentially an address to give the company the appearance of being local. Reviews from other cities indicate that the drives are shipped to OTHERCOUNTRIES for service, which is something that I would not have knowingly done. I don’t feel comfortable having my proprietary data sent to other countries. I did have a back up but both my main drive and backup mirror died in a power surge despite having a UPS. I’m really unhappy that I didn’t find reviews from other cities until now. I intended to go with a local company and unfortunately ended up having my drives shipped off. I’ll update as my service is completed. I got an estimate up front and my drive of course requires the maximum outlay. NOT included in my estimate was the nugget of a 10% service surcharge that was not mentioned until the second round of charges. Seems shady. UPDATE1: It’s been 10 days(6 business days) since I dropped off the drive for 5 day service. I’ve had difficulty getting answers. I’ve reached them by phone this morning only to find out that the repairs have so far not been successful. The first person I spoke with this morning made it sound as if the work has not gone forward because of paperwork(a billing authorization form) has not been received although it was sent and I’ve BEENCHARGED. The second CSR(my sales rep) said that they have been working on it. Not sure who to believe. So far $ 500 and 10 days in with nothing to show but credit card charges. They’re telling me that the drive has been shipped to Toronto. In the end it’s results that matter. So far, no data. UPDATE2: Two days later than the previous update, I’ve been informed that the drive is unstable and they can’t get the data off it. I’ve asked to have the drive returned to me, to which there has been no response for over a day. So to recap, no data recovery. $ 500. No drives. No response. My conclusion is total SCAM. There’s no way to check that they’ve done anything other than get my credit card number. I believe this is why they are so thorough in having the«clients» sign authorizations when most companies are satisfied in just getting the credit card info, because there are NOHAPPYCLIENTSINTHEEND. UPDATE3: I’ve requested to have my drive returned. I originally dropped off the drive on the 19th of August. They are returning the drive to me and it is scheduled to be returned(from Canada) on the 14th of September. This is not a company that truly believes in timely returns. Thanks for relieving me of $ 500 and with nothing to show for my money! Do NOTWASTEYOURMONEY. Go local. Ask to see the facilities or meet the tech. Do not let your drive get shipped off unless you’re in a small town. UPDATE4: The package has arrived today and only one of my two drives was sent. Called, spoke to someone who said that the second drive would be sent back as soon as possible. Pissed. Considering filling a law suit, possibly class action from the other reviews I’ve seen.
