The workers are quite nice though. I ordered carne asada fries and chips and they’re kind of good but I don’t like how the beans goes with the chips. I don’t really like beans. I also don’t like the sauce too.

Usually, I come here about twice a month and get a pretty decent carne asada burrito, but today I decided to try a shrimp taco on the side. Little did I know, that their shrimp tacos had literally one shrimp in them. ONESHRIMP. They disguised the lack of SHRIMP in my SHRIMP taco with a heavy helping of sour cream. I know a lot of places skimp on shrimp, but just ONE little shrimp for a whole taco. Come on! Next time, I’ll just order a tortilla and fill it up with sour cream myself.

Great mexican restaurant for a night of Karaōke– you are able to request a song. I only ate a California Surf burrito and I’m stuffed

The staff here is pretty friendly, food is good. Music is super loud walking in like its a party going on inside. Didn’t really bother me though, maybe they’re trying to liven things up. Parking on the street or back parking usually isn’t a problem for me.

I’m sad that I have to put only 2 stars. The food is very good, not too pricey, but man the service sucks. The family was out, decided to order burritos for dinner. Picked up food, got home. Wife’s crunchy tacos had like zero meat. Daughter’s burrito had onion, we had asked for no onion. My burrito had carne asada when I asked for Pollo asado, and it had cheese when I asked for no cheese. So literally my whole order was wrong. Really? So I call in and ask for a manager. They said they were busy. Of course. What do we do? We’re starving. Oh well. Suck it up, eat, and never return. The sad part is that my receipt read the order correctly. But I guess the kitchen staff didn’t get the memo.

This place is just okay. I’ve been coming here for the last 2 and ½ weeks and have had enough visits to receive a free burrito via their punch card. Fortunately, the first couple of times had been delightful as I have tried their breakfast burrito and carne asada burritos. The place is spick and span and their salsa bar is kept and tidy. The three stars on this review is because my most recent order of pollo asado burrito came out very bland. It tasted as though the chicken was not marinated long enough and felt very tough as if it had been cooked frozen instead of thawed first; it was unpleasant. However, the bright side is that their breakfast is unmistakably good and there’s so much more to try. Hopefully, my next visit will warrant an upgrade in my review.

Just moved in the neighborhood and decided to check this place out. The staff were very friendly, food was great, safe to say I’ll be coming back here.

Excellent customer service and very delicious food everytime I come here. Recommend eating in, you get free chips and salsa plus fancy(clean) plates :) most definitely my go to taco shop around this area and SD! Pretty cool atmosphere plus they have a bar that I’m eager to try on taco Tuesday and during happy hour. Try the trio fajitas plate and roll that muug in a big burrito!

I ordered ceviche on a hot day and it was warm. It gave me stomach cramps. I couldn’t eat much of it. Staff was rude and more interested in having their own conversations than helping customers.

$ 1 tacos for taco Tuesday and $ 2 draft beer for happy hour? Yes please! It’s a taco shop, don’t go in expecting fine dining. Taken for what it is, it’s great! Haven’t had anything bad there yet.

Heads up: they charge for refills on soda! That being said, the food here is really good, and they have a lot of really good looking stuff on the menu. I got the California Surfin’ burrito for about $ 6.50, which is a basically a California burrito(carne asada, fries, salsa) with shrimp and chipotle sauce. The burrito was larger than I expected and it was delicious. They had even crisped the tortilla after rolling the burrito. The chips they brought out were still hot too(maybe because we got there right when they opened). I don’t remember everything my friends ordered, but everything I tried was really good as well. The customer service wasn’t terrible, but it leaves something to be desired. No one was rude to any of us, but the lady wasn’t particularly friendly, which is fine if you don’t need to ask for anything(they must have read some of these other comments though because they gave us plenty of napkins haha). I really want to give this place 4 stars regardless of the service because my food was so good, but who charges for refills on fountain drinks??? I have to pay another $ 1.50 for 22 more ounces of diet coke? The whole idea of free refills is that it’s an extremely cheap way to keep customers happy. However, if you don’t drink that much soda, and you feel like you’re a pretty low-maintenance customer, you will enjoy the food here.

The best taco shop in City Heights! Love it, the shrimp burrito and carne asada nachos are bomb! Prices are decent and they have good salsa!

The best California burrito I’ve ever had. I was surprised that it was a couple dollars more expensive than the average taco shop in SD, BUT it’s massive size and flavors made up for it. Heavenly! Definitely coming back.

I like this Cotijas restaurant, but I’ve less of a history here than the Lemon Grove one. But so far the service is ok and the food was good too. Actually I think the menu is more expansive than the Lemon Grove one. It also offers a variety of desserts. What I like best is that they make the mini tacos which is the greatest Mexican food when you’re in a hurry.

I love that they have half orders of fries. Being a small person, I cant eat a whole ordre of carne asada fries, so the half order is perfect! Sometimes the service can be slow, but the taste of the food makes up for that.

Their grande burrito is huge! My co-workers and I were so shocked when they ordered it. The extra star for the outrageousness.

Come here if you like the following with your meal: 1. Menu with different prices for the same items.(Bad business practice) 2. Only one napkin per person, a tiny napkin at that. Asking for extra will come with dirty snarls. 3. Non existent to rude service. 4. Really loud advertisement radio blaring. Never again.

Geez, what to say about this place. Good food, terrible service. The Diablo burrito is my favorite here. I really like they put rice in it. Thats really all I’ve had here. I once waited 20 minutes for a beer I ordered at the counter. And when it finally came the bartender’s excuse was, «I was busy».(definitely felt like discrimination to me!) And by busy she must of meant flirting with drunk tippers at the bar. ANYWAYS, if I have a hankering for a shrimp burrito I’ll come here but that’s about it.

This place seems to have two listings on Unilocal, but like I said in my review on the other one, this place is great. Look at the picture of the giant burrito I posted. It was great tasting, too. Also, taco Tuesday includes $ 1 tecates. The best Mexican food I’ve found in city heights so far and deserving of a higher rating.

This place remodeled for the second time since I’ve lived down the street and it has also been renamed for the second time. It was originally Cotixas or Cotixan, something like that I can’t remember all I know is there was an x. And then it got changed to something else, now it’s Cotija’s. My friend and I wanted to try this place out, since they remodeled it and everything. It might taste different? I don’t know. They added tables outside, I don’t see the point in that because honestly I probably won’t want to eat outside. What do you want a view of? Random kids walking around? Police station? Yeah I don’t know. Good for fresh air I guess. The inside still looks the same as I remembered how it use to be originally. It just has new paint. It looks nicer I suppose. Their menu looks much nicer than what it use to be. I’m not sure if this place has a new owner or they just basically change the name. But the food was good before, now it’s okay. We came in and ordered carne asada fries(fries extra crispy) and tj style fish tacos for $ 1. The funny thing is when we ordered the tj style fish tacos, the cashier told us, «Oh they’re a little bigger than tj style». Little bigger? It was the size of a regular taco. Or I believe the tortilla is actually a little bigger than a regular size taco. And I also believed their cooks thought we want the fish extra crispy. Because that fish was dry. Also skimpy on the fish taco sauce. It isn’t as creamy as other places are. It isn’t bad after drenching it with their«extra spicy» hot sauce. The carne asada fries were not crispy at all. They use natural cut fries, sort of reminds me of Jack In The Box –minus the crispyness. But I liked it. The portions of fries was much more than the condiments on top of it. But it was actually pretty good. The portions were still alot. We spend less than $ 10 and didn’t finish it so must be a lot right?
