In my opinion this is the best way to get to Coronado! Versus driving and trying to figure out parking just jump on the ferry. For under $ 10 you can get a round trip ticket. The ferry schedule is once an hour and you can get on either at the convention center or harbor drive not too far from the USS Midway. You can also bring your bike which is an added plus and a great way to get around on Coronado. I have been on 2 different boat sizes but they both have an upper area and a downstairs shaded area. I suggest sitting up top as you will have great views of downtown, the Coronado Bay Bridge and Coronado. There is no food served but there is a soda/water machine. The whole ride is about 5 minutes. Once you get to Coronado there are plenty of shops and restaurants or you can head to the other side and check out the Hotel Del Coronado and the beach. Either way there is plenty to keep you busy for a few hours.

Grew up in San Diego & this past Saturday was my first time taking the ferry to Coronado. My boyfriend & I rode our bikes down to the Harbor from Little Italy, got on the ferry immediately on arrival, & after a short 5 minute ride we were off riding our bikes around Coronado. It was $ 9.50 for a roundtrip ticket — not too bad! An added bonus is that Coronado Brewing Co. is right down the street from the ferry stop & Hotel Del is just a straight shot along the main street. Coming back in the evening on the ferry was definitely more packed but the ferry comes back around every 20 min. I believe the hours of operation are 9am-10pm… pretty much all day! Tip: entrance off 5th Ave. is a little hard to find but it’s right behind the convention center and be on the look out for a small sign that has«flagship» on it.

This is the Ferry to catch from 5th Avenue by the Convention Center over to Coronado Landing. The round trip fare is amazing value at $ 8.50 and you can purchase a ticket right at the pier automatic ticket machine. The ferry is an olde world boat full of character, as are the captain and crew. who entertain you and take photos of the passengers en route. Also the view across is spectacular. Enjoy your trip. I certainly did!
