I came here because I was near the area and wanted lunch. Figuring it’s a deli and I was on a budget, I thought it’d be affordable. I bought a 4.99 sandwich and an extremely small potato salad 1.39(prices listed on the menu)… my total came close to $ 9. I figured it must’ve been the transaction fee added,(.50) Doesn’t make sense, I’ve even added extra taxes and find it hefty. Anyway, prices aside. So not worth it unless you have no options. I wish I couldve gone to In-n-out and gotten a meal for $ 5. I wasn’t satisfied and was still hungry. Ugh. $ 9 couldve been spent elsewhere.

Never going back to this place. They charged me $ 9.00 for chicken pita sandwich because I asked for a replacement of meat(lamb + beef) with chicken. Highly disappointed. They overcharge their customers to make money.

Corner Deli soups are freshly made so delicious they don’t come frozen in a bag you can taste it right away and the complaints about the prices are ridiculous have you not been to other delis or any fast food restaurant? Some delis have their sandwiches well over 8 dollars and i dont even want to get into fast food prices. If you want something cheap and gross go order from mcds dollar menu. Oh and I forgot that hummus oh man I love it

For years, me and my coworkers ordered our breakfast and lunch here because it was so convenient for them to deliver down the street. Their sandwiches and soups are pretty good. But lately, their soup has been salty. When we order by phone, we tell them what time we need our food by and they give us an ETA. It is not even close to what they say… they end up delivering between 40 minutes to an hour late and it doesn’t even matter how many orders there are. Today there were only 3 orders we made and it took them 40 minutes to deliver. We could’ve just walked down the street if we knew that was going to happen again! Never again will we order delivery from them.

Love the Corner Deli! very close to my work and come here for lunch a lot. I haven’t tried any of their Greek dishes(which i need to do!) because i am always getting the delicious Mother Earth sandwich! great turkey, avocado and sprouts! yum! Pros: parking great food call in your order at lunch and they always make it fast good chip selection lol Cons: Add a 50 cent charge for using card, so bring cash!

The deli attached to my work location. I used to visit nearly every week for humus on Fridays and still stop by occasionally. Good place to stop by if you’re working in the area. Pros: –Friendly staff –Amazing humus. It’s made fresh twice a day and my favorite in San Diego Cons: –They could do something to encourage customer loyalty. For several months, I would regularly come in. Occasionally, I’d request an extra piece of pita bread(or something similar) and they’d charge me an extra dollar. They have every right as a business to do this, but an occasional gesture of appreciation for consistent business can go a long ways. –They charge you a fee for using a credit card for small amounts. Bring cash and it’s not a problem.

Why do you have to disappoint Mother Nature? I ordered the Mother Earth sandwich with jalapeños and mustard. Though the combo of turkey, avocado, and sprouts is amazing. I don’t like how they stack all the ingredients in the center of the sandwich. Maybe it’s a sales tactic since it looks so big. The middle is so thick then all around the edges there’s nothing to eat with the bread. I like my sandwiches to taste the same all throughout. Haha yes, I’m weird. And then on top of that they over charge on iced teas.

I have a couple coworkers who like this place. I decided to have lunch with them one day. We called ahead. On the menu online, on their website, there is an oven toasted sandwich with chicken breast. When my coworker called, she said that someone was rude to her on the phone and said that nothing like that existed on the menu. I looked at the menu and told her to call back because it is in fact on the menu. Second call worked, and we were able to place our full order. I was already thrown off because the service on the phone was rude. I feel like customer service is half the battle with any establishment. Bad service, you have a bad taste in your mouth and are more likely to find things wrong with the rest of the experience. Anyway, that was my view after the bad service. I went on Unilocal after we ordered(now I’m curious about this place) to find that anyone that wrote a bad review got a comment from management that didn’t seem friendly at all. No apologizing or trying to make it right, no «I’m sorry you had a bad experience, we always strive for etc etc, please come try us again and you won’t be disappointed», something like that. Instead they almost responded as if the customer was wrong. So now I really am expecting a bad experience. We get there, the place is cute on the outside, there are cute seats. My coworkers liked their sandwiches. I did not like mine. My chicken looked like my bread. It was spongy. Definitely not fresh chicken, and not deli-chicken. It was a weird, processed looking spongy chicken breast. I ate it anyway, because I was starving. Everything else on the sandwich was good. The bread was good, the lettuce and the avocado were good. Too bad my chicken was weird. So that’s my experience with Corner Deli. Eh. There are other good delis around here that I’ll try next time instead. This place just sort of disappointed me.

I love the corner deli and café. :) My favorite items are the delicious Gyro Plate in chicken and lamb/beef options, falafel sandwiches, and the mother earth sandwich. They also have this little potato or Marconi salad for a super cheap that is great as a side dish. Overall the customer service is great(they remember who you are and are very friendly) and they deliver as long as you order $ 10 bucks or more which is really convenient for myself as I don’t like to leave my office during lunch hours. Lastly, the prices are really really good which is great as my fiancé and I don’t even need to get a coupon or anything to get food here. :)(we normally almost always use coupons). I noticed some people are complaining about menu changing and pricing issues, so far I have not had such issues personally and I buy from here pretty often. I suspect in regards to the menu changing, the people might not realize that the specials are daily specials and do change everyday. lol

Their soups are made fresh daily! I have not tried one that I do not like. Love it! They are always friendly and the service is great! Much better than other Deli’s around here.

We’ve had some food delivered to the office from Corner Deli a few times and I can say that we will be ordering again very soon! Looking at there menu there food was very fairly priced, I’ve tried the tunamelt sandwich and the hot pastrami sandwich which were both really good. I would recommend this place!

This place is a joke. I rarely write negative reviews but as a customer who has been here many times(because of location), I’ve realized this place should be avoided by nearly everyone. The one thing corner deli excels at is their soups. Nearly all of them are wonderful. Having said that, nearly everything on this menu is severely overpriced. I understand the whole«family run business» and the difficulty to compete with big restaurant chains. The latest example is a «cup of chicken salad» cost me 3.50 and it was literally 2 tablespoons! Comon man, that’s ridiculous. Corner deli gets away with these prices because of the location in the industrial area between balboa ave and clairemont blvd. If the deli is across the street from your work and you only have a 30 minute lunch break or a similar situation that is the only reason this place should be frequented. Workers are unfriendly, food is blah(other than soups), and prices leave you outraged. Go somewhere else!

Menu is always changing and I often get over charged on my phone orders /deliveries. ALWAYS confirm and add your order yourself before they over charge and tag on fees you didn’t know about.

They catered for an office party. I thought oh were having sandwiches for lunch, okay nothing exciting. But nope, I was wrong! The bread tastes so fresh and everything they put in the sandwiches is so fresh. I had the turkey. And the pickles that came on the side were perfect side.

Ok… My company moved into a new office back in March. Took a few weeks to get settled and figure out where to get lunch. This deli is about a half block away. I have been coming here for lunch a few weeks now. The veggie soups are great and it is nice to be able to support a family run business, too! I always get lunch after 1pm… so it’s not hard to place my order… but it is a small space and Quay’s comments are true. I haven’t tried to call ahead. Might do that to see if it is more efficient.

Bumping to five stars for the Greek Lemon Chicken Soup. I’ve never had it before so I can’t say, «This is the best Greek Lemon Chicken Soup I’ve ever had.» But I can say, «This soup makes my tummy happy.»

Near the office and they do call in orders. Even when they are busy I don’t end up waiting too long for my meal. Positives: Variety in dishes. Fresh soups everyday. Everything is made to order. You can eat inside, outside or to-go. Negatives: The lunch crowd, the space is a little small so we end up competing for face time(can make placing your order into a bit of a competitive sport or a long series of «oh, no you first»). They have an interesting variety of American and Greek dishes, salads, hot and cold sandwiches, and even a breakfast menu(I haven’t tried it yet, have my eye on the breakfast burrito though). The owner is almost always there and you can request that he make a certain soup if it is the right season. They will always tailor your order how you want it. I have yet to be disappointed and generally order too much(eyes are bigger than my stomach). Considering that the majority of food places close by are fast food this is a great fresh alternative and most likely greatly influenced my 4 star rating :)
