This place has such great sandwhiches! The BLTA is so great. They have a black bean soup everyday that is amazing! Also the staff is so freindly and remebered my name after going only a couple times. I highly reccomend this place!

Update: Since its proximity, there were several times I was roped into coming back here, and while I’m still not enthralled by the establishment, their Come on In pizza with bacon instead of ham is pretty damn good. Comes with kalamata olives and artichoke hearts, all of which mesh pretty well together. also, the manager there is one of the friendliest guys i’ve met, so it’s hard to not want to like the place. — — — – I’ve had lunch here about 6 times now, and besides having mediocre food, at best, the customer accommodation is not so good. I called at 10:56(by cell phone time) for a breakfast burrito(they only serve til 11:00), and he claimed that it was 11:00 already and that they weren’t serving anymore. I can understand that with a small operation, serving breakfast is reserved for a set time, but if they say they serve until 11:00, I expect to be able to call at 10:59:59 and place a damn breakfast order. I don’t think this is being a diva, i expect the institution to abide by their own set times. Getting back to the food, I had the turkey wrap, which much resembles the turkey wraps available from Costco. At $ 7.75, I’d expect more from it. The roast beef sandwich was actually halfway decent, but the black bean soup I ordered with it was bland. So is the side pasta salad, which I’ve tried before. The coffee drinks are inconsistent. I had a latte one day, which was decent, and another day, where it tasted like watered down swill. Oh, and the chocolate chip cookie was pretty bad, even though the manager endorsed its goodness wholeheartedly. That being said, it isn’t my opinion of the food which will deter me from coming back here, despite its convenient location; it is the lack of delivering on a statement(s) that they’ve made.

The location in down town La Jolla used to have the best muffins, breakfast items and even good fish-of-the-day offerings for dinner. But I was really dissapointed when I tried this location, it is nothing like LJ used to be. I found it a bit pricey for what they offer and the staff was definitely not organized. Maybe they offer great dinners, but I am not returning for breakfast anytime soon.

A new spot just opened up near my work that gives a new option in a bleak landscape of not good options for breakfast and lunch. Yesterday was there first day open. I had a half sandwich and soup. The minestrone was way watered down and a non-event. The sandwich on the other hand was delicious. The freshest whole wheat bread surrounded some quality Boar’s Head turkey, cheddar cheese, tomato and lettuce. I am going to check out their breakfast menu today so look for an update soon!
