best pasta we’ve ever had. Everything is always super fresh and delicious. It always feels good to support local, and tina and eric have poured their hearts into this amazing local company. If you haven’t tried their pasta, you are missing out!

I’m pleased to publish my 200th Unilocal review about a true San Diego small business! I’ve twice visited Close to Home at the Poway Farmers Market on Saturday mornings and tried three different varieties of Tina’s freshly made pasta: the(spicy) firecracker garlic, red pepper, and the orange pale ale. Tina puts out several samples and lets you try all the flavors before you commit to a flavor. Each pasta packet is $ 5 and provides two hearty servings or 3 – 4 smaller servings. If you buy two, the cost is $ 9. The varieties are unique, fresh and delicious and made in a commercial kitchen in Kearny Mesa and much tastier than dried pasta. I love that there are standard herb flavors as well as clever creative ones such as the orange pale ale pasta I had recently. That one is made by grinding up the spent grains from Ballast Point brewing company in San Diego. The flavor is hoppy/wheat with citrus. It’s best served with a little bit of olive oil so you don’t drown out the flavor with a heavy sauce. In fact, all of the pastas here are best enjoyed when served minimally. The pastas take only a few minutes to cook, and they hold up well stored in your refrigerator for a week, even after being open. Be careful though the spicy pastas tend to become more and more spicy after a few days in the refrigerator — I discovered that the flavors infuse! You can also freeze the pastas. I froze the red pepper pasta for just over a week, and then boiled it straight from frozen. It tasted just as good as when I first opened the package and had my first serving. TIP: Tina has a frequent buyer card so after your 10th cumulative purchase, you get a pasta packet free. I lost my punchcard, and she remembered me as a customer, so she was great to give me a new one and marked off my previous purchase on the card!

BEST pasta! My boyfriend and I go to the Hillcrest Farmers Market every Sunday and get at least 2 packages of their amazing pasta! All of their stuff is great, and the Firecracker Garlic is a must if you like a little kick in your dish! So quick and easy to prepare for our dinners. Glad to have found this duo and their fresh homemade pasta!

Fresh and delicious. I didn’t know pasta could be this good. I picked up some Close To Home pasta at the farmers market and was entirely delighted. I don’t know how I can ever go back to the dried out grocery store pasta, and maybe I won’t.

BESTPASTA! As a chef I ONLY use Close to Homes Pasta! It’s so fresh, flavorful and tastes better than any pasta in any restaurant. My clients love my pasta dishes I create and the secret is the fresh made pasta from close to home! You have to check them out at the farmers markets!
