Saw that this place is vegetarian so decided to try it. Its really only like 5 options. Everything else is chicken or shrimp. I orderered the broccoli tofu and eggrolls. My boyfriend got the kung pao chicken. The eggrolls are HUGE but sadly not good. The cabbage was gooey and it was still cold in the middle. The broccoli tofu had a ton of onion. It was a big portion. They give you some white rice also. Broccoli was good. My boyfriends kung pao chicken had a hair in it! So disgusting and he said it was very bland. The employee seemed offended when we asked to throw away the rest of our food. Sadly, we will not be coming back. Gave 2 stars because the guy who took our order was nice.

They serve vegan food now, and I was impressed with the size of the portions and the prices. I got a vegan hu tieu and I could tell the broth was freshly made from vegetables. The whole bowl was only $ 5. In addition, they have premade vegan meals to go if you are in a rush. They have their own parking lot in the back, so you don’t have to look for street parking!

A+++. Great food, great prices. I’ve been going here for 20+ years. And it’s always good

YUCK — DISGUSTING — GROSS — that is putting it nicely for this place. I used to go here many years ago when I attended SDSU. I was in the area and thought I would take some home for dinner. Bad decision — very bad decision. First, I had asked for beef broccoli and the guy gave me chicken broccoli. When I told him about it, he started screaming at me — trying to say that’s what I ordered. I think this old man is the same guy that ran the place when I used to go many years ago. Then I had ordered a small egg drop soup and he gave me a huge one — again more screaming — «that’s what you ordered». I just wanted to get away from him so I took it all the way it was. But worse than that terrible customer service was the food. My daughter’s chicken was inedible — it either had bones in it or was so dry she couldn’t chew it. And there was no sauce! My husband and I had the egg drop soup and I thought I was going to be sick. It was full eggs just dropped in it literally! It was pretty much water other than that — my husband said he also almost threw up and we each only had one bite — then threw the rest away. DON’T GOHERE. Should be a negative hundred but there was no option for that.

There two reasons why I would not go back to this place. The second, less important reason why I will not come back is that the food isn’t exactly what I expected. My boyfriend and I ordered the chicken chow mein dinner and the orange chicken dinner, which both came with a burrito-sized egg roll and fried rice. We were given a container of sweet and sour sauce and the sauce for the orange chicken was packaged separately. The«sauces» aren’t very sauce-like. They’re more like blobs of strange, gelatinous matter. My boyfriend described the sauces as being«more sweet than sour,» but I personally just thought it was very bland and not quite what I’m looking for when it comes to Chinese food. The portions are absolutely gigantic, which would have been great if I enjoyed my meal. I swear that we probably could have eaten for a week on the amount of food that we received with our order. Unfortunately, we finished our meal prematurely because of the first and foremost reason why I will never return and why I cannot recommend this place to anyone. Of course I know that there is a risk associated with eating at any hole-in-the-wall type of place, but I honestly didn’t think that I would experience something so… nasty. I didn’t get through eating much of my orange chicken purely because the taste of the sauce ruined the whole dish for me. So I started in on my fried rice. Initially, it was pretty good. The fried rice tasted light and aromatic with bits of egg and green onion. But not even a quarter of the way through, I discovered bits of something small and black. Upon further examination, I discovered legs and uncovered the definite corpse of a small cockroach. It had definitely been cooked into the rice because I found the lower half with legs in one part of the rice and an upper shell a little bit deeper into the carton. After that discovery, we threw everything away and vowed to never go back. It’s really a shame that this takeout meal was such a disaster. I was really hoping that it would be one of those really good hole-in-the-wall types of places, especially since the gentleman who took our order was so nice and friendly. I’ll be sticking to other businesses from now on.

This place is really good. The food is cheap, plentiful and good quality. I went with my girlfriend and we got one order of the beef chow mein, the box was filled to the brim. In addition it also came with an egg roll the size of the burrito and a take out box of fried rice. One order alone for 9 bucks lasted the both of us 3 meals. I would definitely go back.

I’ll nicely say the food was not what I expected. They give you alot of tasteless food. I mean if it wasnt for the 2 pkts of soy sauce for the beef chow mein it would have been a total loss(seriously no taste at all). The egg rolls were huge full of vegetables which were ok but there was no meat of any kind, might have been a good thing… Sweet and sour chicken ill try to post a pick I couldn’t tell if it was chicken or a ducks broken leg like literally a little meat at the top of a bone and nothing at the botten but a broken bone with burnt bone marrow. The gentleman was very nice as can be as I ordered but barely understood his english. Nonetheless my husband and I will not be back.

I ordered online and when I got there twenty minutes later I had to give my order again and wait. Even as the only customer there and three people working in the back it took way too long to make the food. Not worth it for price and wait

If I could give this place zero stars I would… there were bugs in our food… the sweet n sour sauce looked like pink water… n the worst part was when I wanted my money back they charged me twice and I spent at least 45 min waiting until the son in law came and gave me my money back in cash… I will never eat there again… its cheap and smells like **** for a reason.

Made to order. I got the curry beef which comes with a side of rice and the beef chow mein both are delicious. Definately found my new favorite food joint. On an unrelated note there are vietnamese menu on the wall and spoke to me in vietnamese when I walked in.

We usually order out because we like to eat in the comfort of our home. This is a small business with BIG flavor. All the food is made fresh, which my Husband and I love. It’s a big reason why we always order from here when I have no time to cook. Another great thing is that you get a LOT of food for the amount paid. It’s usually enough to eat for dinner and save for lunch the next day. I highly recommend this place!

Maybe it was our bad luck, or we’re just spoiled by our local place, but bought food for the family one Sunday when our usual place was closed for the day, and it was terrible. The egg rolls were greasy monstrosities full of sludgy veg and unidentifiable meat. The fried rice was greasy and weirdly HARD. The lemon chicken(which we’re used to being a non-fried item, but the menu didn’t make that clear) and the honey chicken tasted and looked exactly the same. The General chicken, which was on the menu, was swapped for kung pao pork, because… ??? The order had more things wrong with it than right, and the food was so bad that it made everyone in the house… over use the toilet, to be polite. Only good thing about the order? We were able to use the steamed white rice the next day for rice cereal. Yeah… I’ll stick to my local hole in the wall, thanks!

Idk what all the fuss is about. The shrimp in my fried rice tasted old and rubbery. Had to pass after the first bite. The cashew chicken was uninspiring and the egg rolls were big but omg, can you say greasy? The sweet and sour pork was alright. But again, the grease factor. It made my stomach turn. This is one of those places you stop in at after a night out drinking. The staff was very pleasant and thankful for my meager tip. Sadly, I will not be returning.

So this place is kinda mega scary on the outside. I mean, I was about to laugh in its face until I Unilocaled and saw the reviews. It didn’t sound like anyone had died of some weird intestinal bacteria from the food yet, so that was good enough for me to give it a shot(I obviously don’t have the highest standards). There was a bit of a language barrier when I ordered, but it was easily overcome. As the cashier/cook/waiter shuffled into the back, he said«10 minutes!» and I left. For almost exactly 10 minutes. When I got back he was just finishing up in the back and I watched him cook the last of our food. I took a video but I don’t think Unilocal lets you upload videos yet. Do they? I’ll check. If it’s there, they do. If it’s not, well then they don’t. Our total for a dinner order of pork chow mein(which included an eggroll and rice), tofu kung poa(includes rice), and a side order of two eggrolls was $ 16. I happily paid him and loaded the 10lb bag into my car to take home to my hungry husband. Note: They do take debit/credit cards but there is a $ 10 limit. When I got home and actually saw the sheer quantity of food we’d received, I was impressed. It was all fresh and just crammed into the containers. And the eggrolls are HILARIOUS. They are literally the size of frozen burritos. I ate half of one and was done. I can’t get over how huge they are. But they are also delicious. It didn’t seem like there was very much(or any) meat in the eggrolls which pleased me a great deal, but bummed my husband out. Regardless I thought they were fantastic. We ate off that food for like three days. No lie. We had dinner that night, lunch and dinner the next day, and then lunch the last day. Amazing. I’d definitely eat here again if in the area. For the price, the freshness, and the taste you just can’t go wrong. Don’t judge this book by its cover.

So you are looking for something different, a break in the eating routine? You want hot, fresh, simple, cheap, ethnic, non-corporate and tasty? How about a tasty hole-in-the-wall kinda place where they speak little English, but talk a mean Wok and give you huge and heavy portions that leave you full and with left overs for the next 2 days? The Chinese Kitchen just might fill the bill, so zip on over, and give it a shot. A sure hit is the beef chow mein. Also, the egg rolls are huge, and 2-for-$ 2 can’t be beat. Ask for a To Go menu, and make your selection from there, as the wall menu is rather confusing and overwhelming. Do call ahead after your first time here to order your favorite stuff, as the cooking is all made to order, so it takes about 15 minutes. CK meets my top 3 criteria: Hot, Fresh and Tasty. And no stale, crummy Fortune Cookie’s here that only add to the costs! Cheapest eats on the Street!

The first time I came here, I really didn’t want to go in. It looked like a really tiny hole-in-the-wall place — the kind I expected to have sub-par Chinese-American food.(Really the stickers on the windows don’t help). Actually, the food is Vietnamese. I’ve only been here for the duck bamboo noodle soup but it was really good and satisfying. First comes a plate of duck and a plate of crispy cabbage slaw. It’s paired with a gingery sweet fish sauce. Then out comes a hot bowl of noodle soup with bamboo in it.(I really like the bamboo and the soup). Very tasty and totally unexpected given how the place looks from the outside. When I was in there, a homeless man snuck in and stuck his phone charger in the wall. When the owner noticed the phone charging, he just let it be… awww, I thought that was sweet. Anyways, bright and clean inside the tiny shop. Recommendations: Get the duck bamboo noodle soup. Very enjoyable. Only $ 5.50 too — what a good price. The duck meat may have been kind of old — not sure.

I really like this place. Great value for the amount of food you get. It is a very small shop but if you are looking for good Vietnamese food this is the place. They have a lot of stuff on the menu, which is on the wall, but I usually get the banh canh or chao vit. The«Americanized» food items like stuff that you can find at panda express doesn’t look too good but I don’t order that anyways. Good hole in the wall place. I guess they also prepare foods for big gatherings.
