Love the atmosphere. Staff was super chill and overall experience was more than five stars. Food was really good. I got the Jamaican red super delicious and everything tastes fresh. Pricing is pretty good. Like 6 or 7 bucks for an 8inch sub.
Definitely recommend and will be back

Kool aid is made with tap water, often drawn from the hand washing sink instead of the kitchen sink

I absolutely Cheba Hut! The food is BOMB, atmosphere is chill and customer service is quality. I’ve been in here a few times and my favorite sub has to be the white widow with chicken bacon ranch and the works. On my first visit Shelby helped me out and she made a great first impression of the restaurant that has kept me coming back! They have this tall pitcher with a spout (not sure what its called) that you can purchase to share a few rounds with friends. I highly recommend Cheba Hut to anyone looking for a place great subs, good beer and awesome staff!

Good sandwich, chill atmosphere, and beer what more do you want. With check in, you will get dinner/​lunch that coat less than 10 $.

Bomb sushi. Do not underestimate this place as its small but has some great specials.

If you can ignore the «blunt» innuendos, then you should get your sandwich on here.
Their sandwiches are generously stuffed with fresh ingredients and different flavors. It is counter service, as most sandwich joints (pun intended) are, but they are very clean, quick and affordable. The do have quite the large sitting area to enjoy in, but also offer sandwiches to go. Staff is pleasant enough and parking is pretty easy.
Be on a sandwich high and try it out yourself (calm down there, it’s just another food pun).

This is probably one of my favorite sandwich places I’ve ever been to in San Diego. Super fresh food, colorful ambiance and well priced. I also enjoyed the selection of local beer. The munchies (desserts) are a plus too!

Went halfsies on the Jamaican Red and White Widow. The only thing I regretted afterwards was not getting another «blunt». Both subs were out of the world delicious. I can’t wait to go back and try what else they have to offer.

I have heard so many things about this place but I have never gone in. My bf finally convinced me to go in and it was well worth it! The portions are super big. The sandwiches had amazing flavor.
The staff is super friendly. Customer service is big in my book and they get an A+.
Will definitely be going back! I want to try everything. Plus they rice Krispy treats are bomb diggity!

Yummy! Awesome Place, awesome staff and awesome food! I love the Kali Mist it made perfect as is, i just like to sprinkle pineapple on it to make it extra tasty! Their munchies are also great!

This is my favorite sandwich place! They can do no wrong! They have a wide variety of sandwiches. My personal favorite is the black widow, make sure to add avocado. It is delicious.
When I first realized the theme, I was a little skeptical. After actually seeing the menu and trying the food multiple times, I think it’s a hidden gem.
This place needs to open up everywhere!
If you have not been here, go!!! You will be happy you did.

Amazing customer service !! I felt welcomed the second i walked in and even had an employee come to my table and ask if id like any dressing and recomended the greek dressing which was AMAZING. Being pregnant its been hard findig the appetite for anything somedays and i look this up on Unilocal and fell in love. The food was great out in a good amount of time and they even have KOOL-​AID .they even bid you farewell when you leave. just a great crew blen for sure. Really made it super final for me. Ill be coming here alot more.

I’m a regular Cheba Hut customer, but no more.
Tonight I ordered dinner on their website at 5:00 PM. 40 minutes later it arrives it turns out to be the wrong order. I call it in and let them know. Erik says he will rush over new food.
Another hour passes and no food. I call back. They say they called my cellphone and a «girl» answered and said she didn’t know who I was so they cancelled the sandwich order. I tell Erik I never received a call, he argues to me about this before finally saying he will send new sandwiches.
35 minutes later new sandwiches arrive. Before the delivery guy will give them to me he wants the old ones. I hand him the old ones, he fingers through them while quizzing me on what should be in the sandwiches before taking the new sandwiches from me and dropping the bag of old, now sullied, sandwiches on the ground. All the while arguing with me.
All of this caught on my home security camera.
Then I call and James forwards me back to Erik. Erik argues again about the girl answering my phone, argues that I called in my order (when I did it online), that there is no way the first sandwiches could have been wrong and refused to send the correct sandwiches back to me. All of this with no apology.
This is unacceptable. Not only to give the wrong food, to argue with the customer, to lie to the customer, to purposefully contaminate the food, to take away the correct food and then no apology?! I can’t believe this service.
Two and a half hours later still no dinner while I’m out $ 21 that I’ll never see again.
[UPDATE] Cheba Hut responded:
I am very sorry for everything you went through last night. I have gone ahead and personally refunded the order, and you will see this on your bank statement in 2 – 3 business days. I wish there was more I could do on my end, but hopefully this helps the situation a bit. Your feedback is greatly appreciated, as I will personally make sure nothing like this happens again. I can confirm I got my money back. At least they responded but still, that kind of treatment is unforgivable.

This place is great!
I had the Cali Mist and it is bombbb. The workers are awesome and the whole vibe altogether is really mellow & welcoming. I definitely suggest this spot!
Another fun thing. There have been like 2 separate instances where the workers have upgraded my sandwich and told me it was a «mistake.» Really nice people!

Yeah, it’s a decent sandwich. But, it’s really not that special, and nothing I’ve had here has even come close to being worthy of a 5 star review.
I think you can get a better sandwich, and a bigger sandwich, a lot of other places, with not so creative names, for a whole lot less.

Bombest sandwiches ever! The décor, vibe, and creativity of the names of the sandwiches make it that much better.
You must try the Jamaican red and the jalapeño ranch.

It was a pretty sweet experience here. I heard a lot about this place so decided to give it a try and was not disappointed. As soon as you walk in all the door you could tell this place was definitely «smoker-​friendly.» The décor all around represent the smoker life and lifestyle. Majority of the sandwiches are named after different strains and the different types (specialty and regular) are distinguished as mid shelf or top shelf. You can even order your sandwich in different sizes: Nug (4″), Pinner (8″), & Blunt (12″). This place definitely amused me.
I started off by ordering a blunt size «Kali– Mist» loaded up, which was their rendition of the California club sandwich. The ingredients they used in this was very fresh and the portions are decently big, they definitely didn’t skimp on the toppings.
I would definitely recommend coming here if you have the munchies as the staff is super nice and interactive. Being close to SDSU, it definitely has that college hang out feel. And there’s also a beer bar with a pretty sweet selection of beer in the back for those of you over 21.
Tip: first check in here gets you a free drink, they have a koolaid machine with two different flavors, and their own in house tea (black widow & Pineapple Express)

Dear diary,
Finals were done and so was I for the day. I craved a small solo celebration to start off my summer. Cheba Hut it is. Just as I knew I aced my tests, I also knew their white widow would be the meal I was missing all afternoon. The pretzel bites were warm and soft as always, the honey mustard sauce was on point, so much so, that I needed an extra cup to add to my sandwich. Damn, such a good meal. And a nice cold beer to wash it down? Sure, why not! Just as I challenged myself on finals, I need to push to try something different off the menu. But how can you blame me when I know what I like? Maybe next semester, maybe next time. Thanks for the cookie!

Ohh. Emm. Gee. Where had this place been all my life?
First thing I noticed when i walked in was the layout. The «decoration» at this place is awesome. So funny, unique and chill. Their fountain drink section is hilarious (must look at pictures).
I ordered the Kali Mist on garlic upon recommendation. I had the blunt size, so I could share (because I’m so kind). It was Amaaaazinggg! So good, it seriously leaves all other «sub» shops in the dust.
I just tried this place so I can’t make recommendations but I would say this sub was one to try! Plus, free drink with check in. I didn’t try their desserts but I’m sure I will in the future, I mean, who doesn’t like fruit loop Rice Krispies?
Anyway, try this place!
