Chameleon Leather Re-Dying

Alex refinished 5 fifteen year old Italian leather dining chairs for me at a tenth of the cost of replacement… they look like new… besides the quality of his work, he was wonderful to work with: punctual, informative, personable… the job was completed in less than a week… can’t recommend him highly enough

We had a 20 year old Stressless chair and ottoman that were in good condition (albeit a bit dirty) but in a dated 1990s teal color. Alex provided a free on-​site evaluation and consultation, guided us through the restoration/​dying process, and provided a fair price and timeline. He brought color swatches along and was quite knowledgable. The work was done faster than expected and the results were exceptional — both pieces look brand new and in a much better (black) color. I was honestly impressed with the workmanship and would certainly recommend Alex to others in need of leather restoration and/​or dying.

I have a 30 year old leather sleep sofa which was very expensive when purchased. It had been ruined by pets and a housemate to the point where I thought it would have to be thrown out.
I met Alex at the Home and Garden Show. We talked, and I had him come take a look. We agreed on a price, and the sofa was taken to his shop. The sofa was delivered this morning. It looks brand new. The cost, while expensive, was far less than a new sofa, even if one were available with a similar mechanism (it isn’t – they don’t make things like they used to, and in the case of craftsmanship, that is NOT a good thing).
I couldn’t be happier. Highly recommended.

I had two full size sofas and an armchair cleaned, redyed and sealed. They were badly faded from the sun and badly scratched from cats, dogs and kids. I thought I would give this a try rather than buying a whole new living room set. I got them back today and could not be happier. They look fantastic and like new. I have to honestly say that they look so much better than I thought possible and I am so pleased. Absolutely amazing! My leather sofa and love seat look brand new. Both pieces were severely faded from the sun, to the point I thought they would have to be replaced. But after speaking with Alex and understanding his process and how knowledgeable he is, I decided to have them re-​dyed by his company. I could not have been more pleased with the results. Alex and his crew did a fantastic job! The leathers looks and feels like brand new. The quality of work done was superb. If anyone out there has expensive leather furniture pieces that are faded and need to be re-​dyed, or the leather needs to be repaired — this is 100% the right company for the job!

I have a 20+ year old Leather Factory sofa that need a lot of TLC. Alex gave me a thorough education in our quote meeting. Once I decided to proceed with him, he picked up the sofa and delivered it back, as good as new (if not better?) and at a quite reasonable price too.

After reading all the excellent reviews, i selected This company to dye my two 8 yr old Camel colored, dirty, but no tears, Stressless chairs and ottomans. I just moved to a place with much better daylight and realized how awful they looked. An interior designer mentioned Chamelon Leather as a possibility for a new look. Alex picked them up and today they were delivered back. wow, they look gorgeous in a speciality grey color. I hope he’ll post the before and after pictures. Unbelievable.
I would highly recommend this company. The price was reasonable and my only complaint is i expected them in 3 weeks and it took a month. But so worth the wait. Good crafts people are hard to find and I’m grateful to have found Alex.

I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking to refurbish or restore their leather furniture. The outcome of our 3-​piece leather set exceeded our expectations. Alex was very good at explaining exactly what the process was. We were quoted 3 weeks for the work to be done, but it actually took more like 4 ½. Having said that, it was well worth the wait! We recently worked with Alex at Chameleon Leather Re-​Dying to have our American Leather recliner and love seat restored plus an Ethan Allen ottoman. The chair and love seat are about 14yrs old and were beautiful when they were new. The ottoman was about 8 years old. But time, sun, wear and lack of maintenance had taken their toll and these chairs have been hidden away in bedrooms. The ottoman was just getting worse looking everyday. We could have gone and bought new leather furniture, but these chairs and ottoman just needed some tlc. We decided we wanted to get them looking great again. We found Alex and Chameleon Leather on Unilocal,just like you are now. I started by taking pictures of the chairs and sending him an email with the pictures attached. We was responsive and decided to setup an appointment to see the chairs. Alex came by and did a free estimate. He was very pleasant and courteous and clearly knowledgeable on his craft. He presented an estimate on the spot and we decided the price was fair and had them do the work. They picked up and delivered the pieces for us, which was a nice no hassle part of the deal.
The final restored chairs and ottoman are beautiful once again! They look brand new! We are so pleased and use the chairs daily once again. If I can post before and after pictures here I will. We recently had this company restore our red leather recliner that had a large oil stain on it. The owner came to our house to look at it & give us an estimate. We agreed on the price & he took it with him then. Within a week it was delivered back to us. He did an excellent job of making the stain «disappear». We are very pleased with the work & the customer service. We will use them again & highly recommend them.

DO NOT GET RID OF THAT LEATHER SOFA! All I can say is Alex is a magician. I called Chameleon Leather Re-​Dying after searching for someone to restore several of our high end Italian leather sofas that were over 20 years old that had been worked over by 2 jumping children and 2 cats. The owner Alex came to my home to give me a free consolation and estimate, Alex is very knowledgeable about leather and assured us he could restore our sofas to like new condition. I was so impressed by his honesty and knowledge I gave him a very big job. A 20 year old black Natuzzi sofa and love seat, replacing 3 worn panels of leather and redying the entire sofa along with all new padding, a 10 seat purple sofa with cat claw damage for repair and redying, a purple sofa that was redyed and all new padding, a black 10 seat sectional that was reconditioned to perfection along with new seat padding and 7 leather pillows. I have to say our home has never looked more beautiful and I no longer get a pit in my stomach every time I would sit on or pass what used to be worn pieces of furniture. Thank you Alex for your professionalism, integrity and on time delivery of what was promised. These guys did a fabulous job on my leather sofas! The leather was cracked and the finish was gone in a few places, and now they are like-​new! They also reupholstered a chair of mine. They took the pieces to their workshop and took about 3 weeks altogether.
If your leather sofa looks like junk, give these guys a try!

We had a 20+ yr. old leather/​fabric set that we love but it was badly faded and cracking on one arm and had some blotches. It was a very expensive set originally and I am glad that I came across a mailer about Alex’s company as I would have thrown them out and bought new. I had no idea that leather could be «fixed». When Alex came to look at it he showed me a section where the original color was intact. It was like night and day! Our set is complicated as the pillows are fabric with matching leather cording, and the leather base was marbled. We had him revitalize the leather and upholster with new fabric. Alex delivered them today and my husband and I are amazed! It’s almost like a miracle. They are nicer than anything we could buy new… we are sooooo happy that I am lining up a few other things that I want Alex to do next :)

Well dude hooked it up color matching a cushion I messed up trying to clean. Alex I think his name is. He explained that a cushion with excessive wear will lose its protection coating and any cleaning after can pull the dye out. Well he matched the color exactly and the best part about it, the color was like maroon or mahogany or something and he pulled a trick out his sleeve. He also forced dried it and re protected it, great job bro I appreciate it. Well he gave me a business card and the picture on it looked like he photo shopped a before n after pic. Made me a believer after showing me a few couches and seats going through major repairs. He mentioned he doesn’t ‘re upholster just restores. Why buy something new just take it to chameleons and get it back new. You guys are really professional, respectful, and go the extra mile. Awesome job and thanks for your help.

Wow what a change to our three chairs! The chairs were sun faded scratched and now they look beautiful! Alex was very easy to work with; professional, courteous and prompt.

Wow! Alex is amazing! We gave him our 3 piece living room set and 3 weeks later he gave us back a new set. Absolutely beautiful! Our couches had dried out and faded when it was in storage. He revitalized them and brought them back to life. My wife was thrilled and as the saying goes, «happy wife, happy life!» Thanks a ton Alex!

I have a Stickley «Morris» style chair and ottoman (made in about 1980 – rather than 100 years ago – but still the same company and craftsmanship) that Alex and crew brought back to life. I appreciate his patient approach to my many questions about leather refinishing (he even gave me advice on how to oil and old leather business satchel of mine). The leather on this particular chair had faded and blotched badly after being in and out of sunlight streaming through living room windows (kind of like my forehead I guess).
He is a student of the art, craft and history of leatherworking and this was most reassuring, because I did not want to put a valuable chair in the hands of someone who would «paint» the leather in some way rather than making the finish an integral and organic part of the hide. They also gave the cherry framework of the furniture a careful re-​oiling.
Now, about my forehead… well, I guess I’m not ready for that dye job yet.

Alex returned today our king leather head board and matching bench, both tufted, and in need of reconditioning and re-​dying back to their original black. Alex recommended top coating both to protect against sun fading.
He did an outstanding job. Both look like new and they are approximately 20 years old.

Alex dyed an extremely expensive leather sectional that had faded badly. He was able to dye it in a marbled effect that was amazing!
