The Cat Eye Club is a great place for tiki drinks in a fun atmosphere. We came here for a special New Year’s Eve event with delicious food and drinks along with a burlesque show. I am not sure if the foof is a normal part of the menu, but the drinks are. I had a Cat Tai, a painkiller and a tourmaline typhoon. All were very good and the typhoon was quite stong. The service was awesome. The blind burro is next door with a door in between.

Went here for the NYE event they were holding. Boyfriend had been doing research on what we could do for our mini vacation, and he stumbled on it. Honestly more than worth what we paid for, especially in comparison to what visitors would get to celebrate NYE in Vegas. $ 140/person for a 3-course meal, 2 drinks, a collectible mug/glass and a burlesque show… AWESOME! I haven’t heard of anyone in Vegas getting bottle service for that price on any day unless they got hookups. The entire wait staff was nice and courteous. They constantly checked up on us, seeing if we were ready for the next course and being smart about when to serve our complimentary drinks. They didn’t take away from the show either. I also overheard them double-check with guests on their orders that were made prior to the event. They really wanted to make everyone happy. I never felt pressured by them to order more, but service was so good I wanted more. The food came from the Blind Burro next door, and it was amazing! If we were their guinea pigs for new menu/fusion items, that stuffy was too yummy to share. LOL. My boyfriend and I made it a point to only share what we were willing to, and it wasn’t much. We got to eat Salt & Pepper Shrimp(awesome sauce underlying the shrimp), Pork Belly Bao Taco =D and Tuna Poke Tostada(fresh!) for the appetizer. I had the Misoyaki Opah for my entrée(nice glaze on the fish and paired well with the furikake rice), and the boyfriend had the Kahlua Pork Carnitas(dang it — should’ve got that too). Last and certainly not least, we had the Pineapple Upside-Down Cake. LOL. Actually, the boyfriend had 2 bites of his then gave me the rest. The crème was the consistency of melted ice cream and didn’t overpower the cake or exaggerate the cake’s sweetness. *SIGH* Well… That was certainly a meal I’ll be trying to work off my first week of the New Year XD We liked the event so much, we stuck around for more drinks. Oh yeah… Thanks to the ladies that brought me coffee towards the end of the night! I really needed that to stay awake for midnight, even though we never got to stick it out at the establishment. The boyfriend and I have already decided to come here on our future San Diego visits, and I’m thinking it’s not too far in the future.

This is really the only Tiki Lounge to go to in San Diego for a nice tropical cocktail that wont hesitate to light your drink on fire if you ask them to! This dimly lite lounge is right next door to moonshine flats. Vibe is pretty similar to Prohibition bar except all the cocktails are tropical. Most of the time theres a live band playing or karaōke. Drinks are strong. Really fun, fruity, and delicious cocktails to choose from. No cover !

Found this place on Unilocal and it’s veryyy cute, very small thou but it has a nice and cozy feel. I took my best friend here for her birthday on a Saturday night because she loves punch bowls. We shared a punch bowl and let me say they are NOT shy with the alcohol that drink was loaded and VERY tasty. They have live music and the band was good two guys sang and played instruments. We were there until closing(the last ones there) I told the bartender it was my besties birthday and he gave her a free drink! So cool of him cute guy too :-). They let us stay a little after closing to finish the drink too. Needless to say are drinks were amazing and we were defiantly feeling the alcohol at the end. A great places for the girls to go and hang out or even a date I saw a lot of couples!

Fantastic drinks and one of the best tiki spots around in the San Diego area. The staff is always knowledgable and fun and tend to be a blast on the busy night! Always coming back!

What a fantastic time I had with some friends on Thursday night at this joint! We had such a great time singing and dancing along to all the awesome karaōke singers! Their service is fantastic to go along with those tiki bowls they offer! A must visit when at the Gas Lamp! Cheers!

I don’t think I would have imagined giving a five star rating to a bar, but The Cat Eye really deserves it. It’s a small little Tiki Bar located right around the corner from the hotel we stayed at. The wife and I walked in after dinner at Ruth’s Chris and wandering the Gaslamp District looking for someplace to relax and have a drink before ending the night. We were about to wave the white flag and head back to our hotel as no place we looked at appealed to us. The crowd was friendly, the staff was quick and talkative, and the drinks were fantastic. The drink menu was unique and intriguing and fun to try. I’m a fan of Vesper martinis and found that very few bartenders know how to make one. Of those that do, very few know how to make a good one.(I think a lot of them take the order, Google up the recipe, and take their best shot.) The Cat Eye made the absolute smoothest and best Vesper Martini I’ve had with the sole exception of the Vesper Bar at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas.(Obviously, they take Vesper martini’s seriously there.). The wife and I enjoyed sitting down, people watching, and being able to talk over the moderate volume music, and friendly people inside. If your looking for a chill yet fun vibe, and drinks like you’ve never had before, I recommend the Cat Eye.

What can I say? It’s a classy tiki bar with strong over-the-top rum n’ fruit juice drinks, great service, and hermit crab races. You should know if this is your type of thing, and if it is, you really ought to check this place out. Painkiller #4 is a personal fave.

Love this place! Very cozy and intimate. Bar tenders are cool as heck and attentive. Live music, karaōke and other stuff happens here all the time so be sure to check online to see whats going on. Drinks are original and good and the food(i had the burger) was delicious. Try this place out!

I feel like I have been deprived. I just discovered this cool joint after the mega awesome Taylor Swift concert! The bouncer was super nice, and a total plus was there was no cover. Especially after a concert that let out 44,000 people, they still charged no cover! Props to you guys, you will forever have respect from me. The vibe of this place is so cool and relaxed, the bartenders are nice and the drinks are VERY well priced. The music was amazing, I can’t wait to come back and visit!

Came here briefly while waiting for my friends. I got the walking dead and it was so strong… The place is super small but it wasnt too crowded on a thursday night. But we left right before karaōke started so we mightve just missed the crowd. Its an all right place to hang out if you just want to chill and relax!

Amanda was fantastic! It was my 21st birthday on 08⁄01 and she was very friendly and explained everything to us thoroughly. She kept checking on us, and provided excellent service throughout our visit. Thanks Amanda!

I can’t believe I have never been here before this place is awesome! It’s retro and had this awesome band with jammin xylophones and bass singing nirvana, sublime and other cool songs in a loungey way. Loved it! I do think the drinks are a bit too fru fru fruity? Mine were not strong at all. I had no buzz after 2. My least favorite was the blacks beach revenge in the skull cup. WAY to sweet I hard a hard time drinking that one and when I told the bartender he did not offer to exchange it which most good bartenders would. I still tipped him high because I watched 2 other guys not tip him for some drinks he took a long time making perfectly. I would have tipped less if I didn’t feel bad that he was having a bad night. Any way $ 11 a drink they should be strong. If you do go, get the zombie crawl my friend had that one and that one seemed to pack a punch.

We were looking for a Tiki Bar in San Diego for our vacation during the week of 4th of July and came across this gem. We went on a Thursday night, which was Karaōke night, and had got there around 7ish and there were a couple of tables taken already. The vibe and décor is a mix of Hawaii and Mad Men. Waitress and staff were extremely friendly and very attentive all night, even when the crowd got bigger. The bartenders make the most amazing tiki and other just as stylish drinks, and they definitely do not hold anything back. Didn’t try the food but tables next to us kept raving on how good their food was. We asked if they had chips and dip, cause when I drink, that’s my go to snack, and the waitress went to go see. They didn’t offer that on the menu but it didn’t hurt for us to ask. And sure enough she brought some great tasting chips and dip for us. Once the karaōke started, everyone got into the excitement. There was a guy who ended up singing«Make A Man Out Of You» from Mulan and I knew that this was the place to be! Will definitely be making a trip here again and again!

We were waiting for some friends to meet us downtown, and we walked by Cat Eye Club, who had a live band and no cover. Walked in and instantly found a table. Their name doesn’t match the décor, which was more of a Hawaiian theme. Friendly waitresses that come to the table, so you don’t have to stand up to get in line at the bar. Live motown music. Comfy booths. Tiny intimate place. I think it’s a great place to take my parents to grab a few drinks if they were in town. The drinks are old school tasting, and not like the mixologist stuff the other bars are doing. Overall I liked it. =)

Cat Eye Club has a cool, funky vibe. It’s a very small and intimate venue, very much like a speak easy. At the same time it looks like the kind of bar that Lucy and Desi might go to ! I visited on a Saturday night and it was packed. The live band was great! I think it was Jason Hanna and the Bullfighters. The drinks are Hawaiian-esque with fun names, glasses, and colors. They also come with umbrellas and plastic monkeys! I’ll be back, especially for the live music, but might try a weekday when its less crowded.

This is an extremely unique bar with a funky fun vibe. The 60s theme has bright colors, tassels, and decoration everywhere. It feels like a fancy bar, cushioned and ornamented. Their drink menu is uniquely visual with illustrations of the drinks. They are on the pricy side but for a cold reason. Some of the drinks come in fancy glasses– others come with a flaming lime floating! The drink I got, death in the afternoon, was the signature drink of earnest Hemingway and has absinthe and champagne. They have a few double sized drinks that you can share with someone else. No matter what you order, you’ll get something great here. I want to come back one night to hear their live music.

This place was so much fun! Alot nicer than I had expected as well. It’s a very sexy lounge type bar with a lot of fruity umbrella in your drink type cocktails(think Mai tais) and they put cute flowers in every drink, even sculpin and bud light! A nice touch. The bartenders were super nice which is always a plus. I loved the atmosphere and how comfortable the room felt. We went on a night they were doing Kareoke and props to the girl running it for putting up with our horrible singing and for being really fun! I’d come back bc she was so great and how much our group enjoyed this bar. I can see us being regulars and I highly recommend coming here!

Very small place, barely fits 50 people but very well decorated and warm and sexy. This was my first time but I was very impressed by it. What I like the most is the jazz live music . It has a small bar with one or two bartenders so the line gets busy even though they are not too many people in the club. What I like the most about this place is, they have created so much from so little… People seem to be happy everybody were enjoying themselves. I like this place and I will be back again…

Wonderful drinks… some with flames. Great Service. Next door to a taco food restaurant(co-owned by the same owners as CEC). You can have food but it’s a specific menu not everything served on the Blind Burro the sister next door. If you are in a tiki-tiki, Hawaiian mood or just want to get away from the really loud and crowded bars, this is the place to go. Next door is a C&W bar that is an eyeful on a Saturday night(the night I visited Cat Eye). But as mentioned, you know what you get when you go to the Cat Eye Club, Big drinks with flames and interesting names, a good start if you are bar hopping in the Gas lamp or just a good place to chill on a weeknight. They have theme nights so check their website on times and days!
