Casanova Fish Tacos

I absolutely love Casanova Fish Tacos. I found out about Hector’s business when I attended a Ceviche Showdown and his ceviche, HANDS DOWN, was the best and SHOULD HAVE won! I got to talking to Hector about weddings and come to find out, he has done them before. I scheduled a tasting with him and the tacos were beyond amazing! They were the best tacos I’d ever had. My fiancé, who is not big on fish tacos, loved them too, and he can sometimes be hard to please when it comes to food so if he liked the food, then its definitely good! I really wanted to book him for our wedding in June later this year, but our venue wouldn’t allow us to bring in an outside caterer, even after begging our coordinator for this one big thing. I wish I had found him sooner. In addition to his amazing food, his work ethic is top notch and his customer service is very on point. He cares about his customers and the product that he delivers, which is nothing short of great. I was very pleased with Hector and his food. Anyone who gets to book him or gets the chance to try his food should consider themselves very lucky. There’s nothing out there like Casanova Fish Tacos!

Wow, wow, wow. Casanova Fish Tacos catered an event in my building a couple weeks ago and I was blown away by the quality and sheer tastiness of the fish tacos he puts out. I had the grilled ginger fish taco and the batter and fried taco. The ginger taco was so good, I went for seconds. Such dynamic flavors that almost reminded me of a «sushi taco», if there is such a thing.
Above all else, I was impressed by how passionate and careful he is when making his food. Its like he makes every taco for someone he really cares about… and that adds to the flavor. I guess his secret ingredient is love (Casanova? anyone?)
In the future, I would not hesitate to hire Casanova Fish Tacos for my own private event.

We recently had an engagement party for our youngest daughter. We wanted to do something different fun and delicious. After contacting several vendors is interacting with them we decided on Casanova’s Fish tacos. Hector was great from the beginning our interaction with Hector was great from the store during and after. The food was fantastic we had nothing but rave reviews from my friends and family. Hector set up was also very pleasing to the eye. We would highly recommend Casanova fish tacos to anyone for any event.

Amazing fish tacos! They are always extremely fresh and delicious. I have known Hector for several years now and he has done multiple events at my work. He is always organized, friendly and professional. He is able to cater in any venue and he is very neat when it comes to setting up and breaking down his work space. I highly recommend his services.

We hired Casanova Fish Tacos for my niece’s birthday party last weekend for 80 people and everyone loved the food!!! The tacos were fresh and delicious. Hector was great to work with and made everything easy. He got to the house early so that he would have plenty of time to set up and ready to serve, the food came out fast and friendly, and he was cleaned up and gone before I knew it. Really made our lives easier and our guest happy with his delicious tacos. Hands down best service all around. I would definitely recommend him to any of my friends and family. I had the opportunity to try some Casanova fish tacos recently and I just have to say that they were incredible! Casanova and his staff make you feel like you are VIP when you order with their attention to detail and their excellent customer service. Thank you for the great tacos!

I hate to tarnish a good reputation with a 2 star review…
I will say the customer service was good. The food was good as well, hot, fresh, not drowned in cilantro. But the shrimp burrito was 80% cabbage. I understand profit margins and that shrimp is expensive and that cabbage is cheap. But it was more of a salad with some shrimp on it wrapped in a burrito tortilla. The salsa is good as are the chips. I would eat there again but would order something else and see if I get different results. But for now, at least tonight anyway, it’s off to Sr. Taquero…

Love how fresh this food is! We were lucky enough to try the take-​home package and it rocked to be able to have every single thing needed to make a full dinner for the family (and have a lot left over)! The green salsa is the best in town and the fish is so tasty.
They even offer gluten free!

The most amazing fish and shrimp tacos, the ceviche is also the best. I will travel near and far to enjoy these tacos! Generous portions, quality you can count on, and incredible customer service! I brag about them as after as possible! No matter what they whip up, you won’t be disappointed!

My wife and I have had CASANOVA fish tacos cater several events from a wedding, baby shower and work events.
When they show up they are on top of their game with promptness, presentation and service.
We’ve been using Casanova for the last 5 years and when it comes to an event, it’s a no brainer that we call hector and his team.

I’ve had Casanova Fish Tacos consistently through out the years. Hector has gotten the fish taco game down and has hustled through the years to expand his business. I’ve seen his taco business at private events, street fairs, parties, etc. Much respect. If you’re lucky enough to try his fish tacos get them. They’re the best in town! Hector is also a solid dude.

If you like tacos, and I know you do, you will need to add these fish tacos to your «must try» and your «top 5» and your «taco king» and your «slap yo mama» and your «mouthgasm» lists.

There’s something special about the fish here, the way it’s lightly seasoned, cooked, i don’t know. Just an all around, modern classic (whatever that really means) spin on the humble K-​38 area seafood tacos we were all introduced to on various Baja CA surf trips.

San Diego has so many taco choices, we are lucky in that. Hector has taken the basics and made them into his art. At first glance, they are just pretty looking, familiar foods. But then, you bite into it. Your eyes and heart are opened. The fish has changed you, reminded you of how fish tacos should taste. Not pretentious, not inundated with ingredients, not heavily reliant on batter, not «fishy», not bland, not tilapia.

Affordable, tasty and filling ! One is usually enough for me. They’ve got other options on the menu like the shrimp chipotle quesadilla which is another one of my favorites!

I’ve been everywhere in Mexico, as well as Sam Diego, and tried many a fish taco, and with the sole exception of my own grilled swordfish tacos, Hector’s are simply the best. Guess I am lucky that swordfish is too expensive for most people to want to pay for, or I’d likely lose my crown there too. We tried them, loved them, and had him cater several events for us. I have since run into him and his crew catering many other events in town. Darn! My secret is out…
Plus, in my experience at least, Hector himself has always been there… cooking, managing and making sure everything-​the food and service is top notch. (Hope I am not making promises for him or creating too many expectations, since, as the business grows — which it will — I assume he can’t be everywhere. Then again???)

Casanova Fish Tacos catered our company picnic and stole the show. Hector’s tacos are by far some of the best I’ve ever had. I met him at one of his weekly events to sample the tacos before booking, and from the moment we started talking it was obvious he is passionate about his food and his business. Five minutes with Hector and one bite of his tacos and I was sold.
Hector was extremely responsive and helpful throughout the process, and was very flexible and accommodating. He and his crew were friendly, professional, and had no problem accommodating over 600 guests. His operation is incredibly efficient, and no one had to wait more than a minute or two for their food. All I heard about all day (and even days later) was how much everyone loved the tacos. I would definitely recommend Casanova for a catered event, or for lunch if you can find him at one of his weekly spots!

I’ve eaten fish tacos all over San Diego, California, the US, and the world (it’s one of my baseline «I will try it anywhere to judge the local cuisine» staple items), and Casanova’s are the best I’ve ever had. I feel 100% confident in that statement, as no other fish taco has left a resounding memory for me the way these do. His knack for showing up at breweries is an added bonus, and although it may not be a roaming truck, per se, it’s a mobile operation which he manages to pull off with relative ease.
The difference, he told me, is in the type of fish. They use angelfish as the base for the fish taco, something I’ve never seen or heard of anywhere else using, and it makes such a marvelous difference. The sauce to fish to slaw ratio is just perfect, and the size is plentiful even for the $ 9 price. I’ve also tried the shrimp tacos, which are very good too, but trust me just stick with the fish and you’ll be delighted.
There’s not much reason to go on and on here, just bookmark this place now and make it happen whenever you’re in San Diego.
