** UPDATE ** I tried to go here today and noticed a sign on the door that they were CLOSEDUNTILFURTHERNOTICE due to a fire. Judging from what I saw, the damage is pretty extensive and they will probably be closed for quite some time. I would definitely call before you go, but I wouldn’t expect them to open again for a few more weeks. It’s really unfortunate.

Came here based on the reviews. $ 8.99 lunch buffet. The food was a tad on the spicy side, but the flavor was all spot on. The chicken and fish were all very moist and tasty. The korma had just the right cream to it. Everything is plastic cups and plastic plates and silverware. So it’s easy to clean up. The décor is café style with Bollywood music playing on the tv. You can tell the food is fresh because they don’t have deep dishes out on the buffet but very shallow ones, so they are always having to replenish when it gets low. My only complaint is that because the roti and tandoori chicken finish fast, you have to wait before they replenish it. They should see the moment it goes low, to already have the next batch available. Otherwise, this place is decent. I would definitely come back. Very friendly too!

Our new favorite Indian buffet! Under $ 10 and it’s delicious. Though I haven’t seen one of my favorite dishes yet(saag paneer), my other fave dishes are represented, like chicken tikka masala and nav ratna korma. Also, you can get both regular and garlic naan… total bonus! And when they also play Bollywood music videos, I consider it the total experience. Okay, gotta eat!

I love this place! It’s my special Friday lunch spot. The prices are reasonable and everything I’ve tasted has been exceptional. Their buffet items are always delicious and interesting. I also love everyone who works there. They are always friendly and quick to offer suggestions of what they think you might like, and they are always correct with their assumptions! Great food, great flavors, great prices, great people = a great place to eat. Go try it! Tip: Try a mango lassi!

Had the combos. Vindaloo and butter chicken were yummy and so were the sag and navratan korma. They gave us fresh garlic Nan’s which were thin and crispy. Definitely recommended

I have been here a couple of times before. I love their butter chicken. I Come from north side of India and for me their food is so close to what I would like to eat back home in any of the good restaurants, this is something hard to find.

Peach Review: Comments based on the quality of food only. Check out Peach at Peach has teamed up with a large company in San Diego to deliver local restaurant food to employees at lunch time. No more boring cafeteria food and no need to walk over 20 minutes to the nearest shopping center to grab a decent lunch. Enough with the Peach spiel. I’m pretty excited to say the least because now I have the opportunity to eat food from restaurants I would never normally go to. Chicken Tikka Masala. The curry has a great spice level and the sauce tastes like tikka masala. My only complaint is that there were only 3 pieces of chicken that were really tender. Some places have very dry chicken, but the curry I received today was not dry at all. Vegetable Korma. I was happy to taste that the vegetable korma also had a great spice kick to it. A lot of other vegetable kormas tend to be sweet. The only thing about this korma was that there wasn’t a high variety of the vegetables. Still, it was a good complement to the rice. Basmati Rice. The rice came with carrot pieces, which I thought was an interesting twist. I didn’t think the carrots really added anything to the rice overall, but the rice was good. Naan. Peach listed garlic naan, but unfortunately, there was no garlic naan in the foil package that I opened. I’m not sure why, but the naan looks like pita bread and kind of tastes like pita bread. Based on the other pictures posted here, I don’t think their naan always looks like this, but I am a little disappointed in the quality that was delivered. Overall, I’d give Bombay Grill a 3.5 stars, so I’m rounding up to 4 since I don’t think I have a great view of the menu. If I’m in the area, I might go to try their buffet. Also, I don’t know if Peach was the one who provided their delivery trays, but it’s actually a nice container that I’ll probably use again.

Went in expecting to get what I paid for. $ 8.99 for an Indian buffet, I was expecting some Bombay Bullshit. I was really surprised at what we got. Place was really clean, service was excellent, and the food was really good. The Naan is exceptionally good. No, you arent eating off of fine Indian Thali, but the food and décor is pleasantly surprising. All of the dishes tasted great. $ 2 lassi and some raita that was freaking delicious. The service was very fast and friendly. One of the workers made a few suggestions on what to try and what to mix etc. Turned out great. Overall, for the price, you are getting one hell of a deal here. I would advise to just give it a chance and I bet you will leave happy.

I decided something besides fast food for lunch for a change and decided Indian food! Since I drive by here every day for work it received the random(or not so random) vote. Boy, am I glad I did! I walk in and the smells tell me I’ve entered the right place, There’s a buffet line and several tables that were filled with people… always a good sign. The man behind the counter was very friendly and helpful in discussing my options for my «To go» order. I decided to do a buffet line trip with a container and off I went. Lots of choices and I tried a few of them… all really good. Garlic naan, veggie pakora and something that looks like a hush puppy all great and fresh. Butter chicken, chicken vindaloo and two types of rice were all fresh and obviously made from scratch. From what I could tell not much, if anything. is frozen or comes from a can. Not fancy but delicious! I’ll be back!!!

This place is pretty good. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They will help you decide what to eat and go into detail as to what everything is. This is extremely helpful if you havent had this type of food before. Wished they had super spicy but I guess not everyone is a bad ass like me with the spicy food hahah. Ok im done…

When you think of Indian food, what’s the first word that comes to your mind? Well, if you’re me(which you’re not), that word is «spice.» Regardless of what your word is, not-me, it’s probably not«pizza.» Yet if pizza were somehow magically to exist at an Indian restaurant, would you agree that it’s a reasonable assumption that pizza would have some modicum of spice? I’ve actually tried Indian pizza elsewhere, and having detectable flavor was not a problem there. So my hopes were high for Bombay Grill, but alas spice was not in the cards. Baked on a crust that I swear was made without salt, topped with onions and peppers that definitely didn’t promise a one-way trip to flavor-town, and red-crusted chicken that didn’t taste like red, I found myself feeling like I had to force myself to finish it. Because chewing air isn’t normally my thing, you know? And now, several days later, I still have two pieces left in the fridge, and I feel little motivation to eat them. To end the review on a positive note, the staff was really friendly! Summary: Well, that bomb… ayed.

Wanted to love Bombay Grill, but sadly I just couldn’t. I went with combo#1, which included a veggie curry, raita, naan, rice, salad, and a can of soda. The menu was a wee bit confusing, because at first I thought that the curry included any of the veggie curries listed on the menu. However, if you go with the combo plate, you’re limited to whatever is sitting in the warming trays. The most popular veggie curry is the aloo gobi masala. After a quick sample, I determined that this was the curry for me. It had a nice coconutty flavor with cauliflower, peas, and carrots. When the plate was put together, I thought it was odd that the salad landed on top of the rice. Anyway, the salad was merely just lettuce and cucumber that quickly started to wilt on top of the hot rice. Was there supposed to be dressing? If there was, then I missed out. The naan was just okay, I’ve definitely have chewier and softer naan some place else in the Miramar area. My date went with chicken tikka pizza. Doesn’t that sound good on paper? We waited around 20 minutes for it.(We were warned that it would take 30 minutes.) Upon first glance, it looked pretty tasty, but after one bite I was like… uhh… this is really boring. In addition to the chicken tikka, there were onions, bell peppers, and mushrooms. The cheese was your standard mozzarella and the sauce your typical tomato. I just wondered… where was the flavor? The guy working that night was super nice, which is a plus. I think they need to rework their pizza. It’s a great concept that I would really love to see expanded, only if they can get some much needed spices worked in.

While not that familiar with Indian cuisine, I was intrigued when I saw an ad in our local PennySaver that touted a weekend Indian buffet at Bombay Grill for $ 7.99. Figuring that I should broaden my horizons(and add to my Unilocal 100 Challenge), I drove up to Miramar to check the place out over the weekend. You know the saying, «You get what you pay for»? Well, that definitely applies to Bombay Grill’s buffet choices. There honestly wasn’t too much variety to be found — I was expecting more options to be available. And of the options I saw, I went with what I knew(chicken tikka marsala, tandoori chicken, garlic naan, basmati rice, & vegetable samosas)… and it was mostly disappointing. Granted, the food was much more flavorful than at Taste of India down the street, but the garlic naan could’ve used a bit more garlic and the samosa filling was essentially one big hunk of potato. Additionally, instead of a soda fountain, Bombay Grill has bottled drinks… guess that cuts down on diners wanting to linger around and enjoy their meals. Not that there’s much of an ambiance — there’s a TV on one of the walls showing Bollywood music videos, but that’s about it. While I could’ve paid a few extra bucks to have my lunch at the Asian buffet in the same mall, at least Bombay Grill was a decent experience. Plus, the fact that they serve pizza sounds interesting; think I may stop by again to try it out.

Threw up! 2 – 3 hours after finishing chhole bhatura for dinner/snacks. Could not control the nausea. Had to put finger in and take it all out! It tested great though if one cares.

Another great option for Indian food. There are a lot of similarities with Punjabi Tandoor, so I am drawing a lot of comparisons. Bombay Grill is in a strip plaza, so it’s pretty quiet on weekends. For lunch, they have a prepared foods line. Not sure if it’s also available for dinner. We got Combo #2, which comes with a meat curry, veggie curry, rice, naan, raita, salad, and a drink for $ 8.49. For the meat and veggie curries, we picked chicken tikka masala and saag paneer(except without the cubes of paneer). Both were delicious. The chicken was so tender, and the saag paneer was very creamy. Punjabi’s chicken tikka masala is strange and not a creamy tomato-based sauce, and the saag paneer lacks enough cream. Combo portion size was filling, but not as generous as Punjabi. The only thing that is not as good as Punjabi is the garlic naan. The naan here is good, but just not as fluffy as I like it. We also got a lamb curry entrée(12 oz option for $ 7.49), which was also really good and came out piping hot. It was a good portion size with a lot of tender, big lamb pieces. Nice service and entertaining Bollywood music videos on TV. I will definitely be back for some more delicious food.

HOW: You stand in line to order and then sit down, then they will call you to pick up the food at the counter. Water/utensils/napkins self-serve by the register. 10% off according to their website. The PIZZA: now I wasn’t a big fan of this for some reason. It came out fresh hot. I had both the veggie/chicken tikka. Somehow the flavors just didn’t wow me. Onto the more traditional dishes: I ordered Alu Gobi to go(Cauliflower/potato veggie curry), it was delicious to go with my brown rice!!! Another one of my favorite was chicken curry(goes best with non-spicy naan), and the creamy/sweetness in korma chicken curry complemented the chili naan fairly well. The mango lassi was thinner in texture that I am used too, but the mango flavors are really intense(super like). Their biriyani are missing quite a few ingredients I’m used to, in the sense that they only served the rice with the item it’s named(e.g. beef, lamb, etc.) I am used to ones that have raisins, nuts, and herbs… They do serve the deli combos for dinner, and that option is really fast as compared to the menu dishes. I noticed the kitchen was manned by only one person, and so it is really challenging to crank out as many dishes ordered by our group of 6, as well as 3 – 4 other tables.

We have tried almost all Indian restaurants in San Diego and none is that Great in Taste. In all, the food is more suited for US taste. This was new one, so we thought of trying there. Ordered Mutton Biriyani and Combo2, to our surprise, the taste was so Indian, that I had ordered one more mutton biriyani for to-go. The best part was«Mutton was truly Mutton, not Lamb»(what I had encountered in other indian food joints). The pic that I uploaded was actually a to-go order. We had matar mashroom and chicken tikka masala in the combo, both were great in taste. If they keep this standard, we will be frequent visitors there. All The Best !!!

Indian pizza? What!!! I didn’t know there was such a thing! This is the second Indian restaurant I’ve been to in the San Diego area(sorry, I’m not an Indian food expert), and it was overall a good meal. We came for dinner and ordered a variety of dishes. We started with the Samosa Chaat, which came with some sauced up chick peas, raw onion slices, and something white(probably yogurt). The Samosas contained potatoes and green peas – and they were tasty. I liked the slight kick in heat that the chick peas had. Next we ordered a large pizza: half Chicken Tikka, half Mixed Vegetable. The cheese they used looked like the normal cheese on a normal pizza. The crust definitely didn’t have enough(if any) gluten; it seemed crumbly. I only got to taste the veggie one, which wasn’t very memorable. It didn’t taste normal, but it didn’t taste weird either. I guess it could be a good choice for a vegetarian. I tried the Garlic Naan and Spinach Naan. Both were fresh and delicious. The garlic one was on the thin and crisp side, with chopped garlic and some type of greenery on top. The spinach one was pretty much double in thickness, making it more doughy. I thought the spinach would have been baked into and throughout the dough, but they actually just put a few small pieces of spinach in between the two layers. I liked it, but it could have used more spinach. Other dishes we ordered were the Chicken Curry, Goat Curry, Chicken Korma, Fish Pakora, and Lamb Biryani. My favorites were the Chicken Korma and Lamb Biryani. The Chicken Korma was light, smooth, and flavorful. The chicken pieces were tender. I wish I got some plain rice to go with this. The biryani was pretty good, and the lamb pieces in it were tender enough. There was a TV in the corner playing some Bollywood and some interesting art hanging on the walls. There was basically one guy doing it all: taking orders and cooking. His wife(I think) tried to help, but she was lugging around an infant, so she couldn’t do much. This caused a slight delay in getting some of our food, but it was forgivable. I like the place. While I wasn’t wowed by any particular dish, I would definitely come back to try something else. I give this a 3.5, but will round up for now. P. S. They mention 10% off on their website menu, so be sure to ask for it.

The food is really fresh, the staff is really friendly and the lunch special it’s reasonable priced. The tandoori chicken is so good I thought it looked dry but was wonderful tasteful and anything but dry.
