I used to be a massage therapist years ago, and hence am quite the massage connoisseur. I found Neil from his excellent reviews on Unilocal,and I must say, he IS every bit as amazing as his reviews tout! He is, dare I say, EVEN a better massage therapist than me! (And I do not say that lightly!) He does incredible deep tissue work, really gets the knots worked out, and combines several different modalities to be effective, which I really appreciate. If you are looking for TRUE bodywork, and not just a «foo-​foo» relaxing superficial massage, then go to Neil!

Neil is truly an amazing massage therapist. His techniques are one of a kind. He knows the body really well and he was able to work on my problematic areas without me pointing it out. If you’re looking for a spa, this isn’t the place. This place offers true body work. The ambience is very relaxing though. He is a one man show and his appointments book out a few weeks. If you’re in San Diego and in need of a massage, plan accordingly. This is one of the best massages I’ve gotten in a while now.

Neil is a true healer and the best massage therapist in San Diego. After a 60 minute deep-​tissue massage he had every knot worked out of me. I went in with neck and shoulder pain and walked out feeling so relaxed and renewed.
Simply put, look no further. Neil is the best in the business and worth every penny.

A foot massage after a long day of shopping sounded like an extravagance, but that didn’t stop me. I wore the wrong shoes and after 4 hours of shopping, I walked past this small storefront offering foot massage. I timidly poked my head in, and was immediately surrounded by a staff who massage away my pains and had me laughing and back on my feet ready to shop some more .the stores should put these guys on staff!

Neil is amazing! He KNOWS the body and how to get you tip top! He knows what your body can handle and can feel what pressure your muscles respond to best. I have many MANY massages all over and it is fantastic to get someone who know what they are doing. Neil is also very caring and puts loving energy into his work which makes a world of difference. This is true deep tissue, healing therapy.

I decided to give Body Zen a try after reading all their positive reviews and… it was HEAVENLY!!! I received a full body Swedish massage and enjoyed every minute of it! My massage therapist was Sabrina and she was GREAT! She has a very pleasant air about her and makes you feel instantly comfortable! She’s also very attentive to your comfort level of pressure throughout the massage session. She also made sure to ask if there was a particular area I’d like her to concentrate on… very professional! I walked out completely relaxed and revitalized! I will definitely visit her again!

What can I say about Neil that hasn’t already been said? All I can do is add another voice to the amazing reviews here and confirm that what everyone says is true. He is an amazing person. He is kind and caring. His voice is like velvet. He clearly takes great care of his own body, inside and out. It tells you that he practices what he preaches. He is does not just give massages. He is a true therapist. If relaxation is what you need, then he will give that to you. But if your body has kinks and issues to be worked out, he knows exactly how to take your pain tolerance queues, «read» your body with his hands and feel what needs to be done to mend your pains. He has such a great understanding of body mechanics and how the body compensates and gets out of whack in doing so and exactly how to set it straight with the right techniques and methods for the job.
And his rates are totally reasonable, as much as you would pay anywhere else, so to get this quality of service is awesome. Of course you can get some groupon to a cheap day spa for less but you might as well pay a friend to rub you down with baby oil for as much expertise as they have if you really have something to work out, or find a student masseuse to practice for free on you.
Neil has magic hands, let him set you free. And as he says, let the body tell you when to come back!

Neil at Body Zen on & off over the last 5 years for chemical peels & facials & have been very happy with my results as well as the excellent level of service & attention to my skin care needs.

I’ve never had a facial nor a professional massage, so I was a little nervous going in. I had contemplated coming in a few months ago but kept putting it off. I decided to go with the massage and chemical peel package.
I walked in and Neil greeted me right away. If you’ve never met Neil, be prepared to meet someone who has the natural ability to put you at ease with his voice and personality. I quickly felt at ease. Neil asked where my problem areas were and he got to work on them right away! Then came the chemical peel. He explained the condition of my skin and also detailed what he was using to do the peel. I was so relaxed and my skin looks great!
I cannot say enough about my experience here. I’m definitely going to be a regular client.

I decided to try Body Zen simply based on Unilocal reviews. My past experiences with massages have been hit or miss — some are great and others not so much. I guess this applies to most services but a bad massage can really ruin your day.
Neil is professional, courteous and most importantly an excellent masseur. He has an iron grip and can really apply force\pressure where needed — this man is built!
In speaking with Neil I learned that he applies techniques from various disciplines including Thai massage and Chiropractic study. It’s clearly evident that Neil has honed his skills with both practice and theory and his clients benefit from this.
I will certainly be returning on a regular basis. Actually, I am writing this from overseas and when I return after my grueling 25 hour journey I will be visiting Neil first thing to get my aching body back in shape.

I can’t rave enough about Neil! I went in for an hour massage, and I walked out feeling like a million bucks.
My body was in need of some serious TLC (hooray for stress manifesting in physical ailments!), so I was really looking forward to it. Neil immediately went to work, and before I knew it my back and neck were popping back in place just like a jigsaw puzzle. I especially like how he kept saying «thank you,» which made me feel very proud of my body, like «YEAH! You go body! You follow his directions.»
As other Unilocalers have noted, he does do a fair bit of chatting, and that was fine by me. He has the most soothing voice EVER. We talked about my exercise routine, diet (he could tell from my muscle condition that I don’t eat much meat — what other secrets did he know?!) and he explained some of areas/​muscles he was working on.

I’ve hit up many massage places in San Diego, and by far Neil’s professionalism, skill, and overall experience was the best. I had an online deal that I used, and I have definitely had my fair share of misses on those! Yikes!
However, this place did not fail. The online scheduling system was great, and made it really easy to make an appointment. The suite is tucked away in Village Hillcrest mall. Street parking is rough sometimes, but I found out later they validate parking.
The massage. I had a 60 minute deep tissue massage. I am extremely tense in the shoulders, neck and back from sitting in front of my computer all day. Neil did an initial consultation on general problems and he was polite, courteous, and nice. He started at my feet first, which seemed different to me, but it definitely put me in a state of relaxation immediately.
His pressure was great, and I like deep deep tissues. The pressure was appropriate and he reacted well and intuitively to all my knots in my back. When I had knots in my lower back and arse area, he did a Thai massage technique where he kneeled on my back. He’s not the smallest guy, weighing over 220 pounds, but it felt amazing! I loved it!
He did some great stretches, and was attentive to my forearms and finger that definitely addressed some carpal tunnel issues from typing all day. Neil responded well, when I would chat, he would chat back. He didn’t entertain conversations if I didn’t entertain them first, and made me feel very at ease. A great asset to Hillcrest, led by a great manager.

Neil is great. My back feels wonderful and my face is moisturized and smooth.
I used a dailysave coupon for a facial scrub and massage (one hour total) for $ 39. Great deal.
The massage was suppose to be for neck and feet, but Neil was accommodating enough to tailor the massage to what I needed. My back had been bothering me after running so he worked on massaging out my back as well as stretching my hips and ankles.
The facial felt super natural — he used a milk based sugar scrub with almond oil and vitamin e, as well as an oatmeal and honey mask. My face smelled like a delicious breakfast! No unpronounceable chemicals, enzymes, etc, but my face felt better than it ever had with any other facial.
Rarely do I feel like I would go back to place and pay full price for massage/​facial services (i mean really, it’s expensive everywhere! and with all the great coupons nowadays it seems silly to pay full price), but I would definitely come back here to Neil.
(Just a note, they are located in a office suite which is a little interesting, but it’s clean, relaxing, and professional so I had no problems)
