This place was awesome, I went here to buy some glass for apothecary necklaces I am making. I needed to buy big tiles and cut them but how do I even cut glass? No worries! The man showed me how to do it! Gave me a little lesson right there even let me keep trying it until I felt safe enough to do it myself. Got my cooper tape I needed and everything I needed for my project! Great place!

I am new to stained glass and stopped by the store for supplies. The store has a wide array of different colors and some inspiring samples. I’m now eager to finish my current project and jump into the next one! The gentleman behind the counter was very helpful and happy to explain anything I needed. He wasn’t the type the hovers but would help answer any questions and give you tips if you needed it. He also helped me pick out my new glass cutter and was patient enough to explain the benefits and drawbacks of each type and had me test out each type.

I took an introductory class last Fall here in which I completed a smallish rectangular window panel. I am now enrolled in an open workshop. I show up with my ideas and they help me make them a reality. I love this place. I love all of the different colors of glass. I’m excited about all the cool things I can make. The owners are generally both present for my current class, providing exceptional personalized guidance. Initially I signed up thinking I’d like to replace the clear glass panels in my front door with stained glass. While I slowly work out the design, I hone my skills working on a wide variety of other projects. If you have ever been at all interested in stained glass, I highly recommend signing up for their introductory class.

This store was recommended to me by a friend and she referred to it as «the Disneyland of stained glass» so I had to check it out. When I visited I was greeted by a woman(I later found out is one of the owners) who was very friendly, she asked if she could help with anything then have me my time and space to browse. She answered all my questions and pointed me in the right direction. The store was easy to navigate but I could easily spend hours there. So much merchandise! When I was ready to make my purchases she was once again very friendly. I will definitely be back to Blue Dolphin where they are friendly, knowledgeable, and very helpful. Thank you!

I’m taking my first stained glass class and my teacher suggested I go to Blue Dolphin to get materials, since they are known for being helpful to beginners. My teacher was definitely right. The guy at the store helped me out with everything. He showed me where everything was, and then left me for a little while to take a look around. After he saw I was just about done picking out my pieces, he came back over and helped me lay everything out and figure out how much glass I needed. I’ve had some bad experiences in the past with art shops, where the employees are snobby and don’t like to help people who don’t know what they’re doing, but this experience was the opposite. They had a decent selection of colors, but I wish it had been bigger. For instance, I was looking for a dark, grainy red, but ended up settling for a brighter color since they didn’t have what I was looking for. I would definitely go back here though. Great customer service and the prices were less than I expected!

I have taken classes and purchased supplies from Blue Dolphin. The classes are friendly and informative, I look forward to taking more from them. The owner has been nothing but kind and generous with his information and time whenever I am there.

I discovered this business by accident! I am a new lampworker(or old lampworker with a too long break more aptly) and wanted to see what kind of local supplier I could find. I was very surprised to find that this seems to be the only local source for any type of lampworking supplies. The supply is limited, which is understandable given that they are primarily stained glass and fusing supply. Regardless, I found a nice handful of rods and a couple new tools … and a HUGE temptation to try their classes ;) I signed up on their email list and I’m sure they will be seeing me soon for a new glass experience. The gentleman in the store directed me to their lampworking section and allowed me to browse in peace yet was always available if he were needed. All the beautiful glass was wonderfully distracting! I hope that as lampworking grows they will be able to expand their offerings and help save me trips to LA !

This is a great place to come and learn everything art glass! They have classes for beginner & intermediate level stained and fused glass. The shop is well organized, have an extensive glass & supply inventory, and the owners(Mike & Tina) & staff(Stan & Mason) are wonderful. They are patient, very knowledgeable, and make learning glass really fun. I would recommend this shop to anyone who is interested in learning stained/fused glass, or experienced artists needing supplies.

While I know little about glass working, I did need soldering supplies and was having a helluva time finding them locally. Yeah, I could have just purchased on-line, but sometimes I just want to buy locally and do my bit for the local economy. Blue Dolphin has most soldering supplies — other than a soldering tripod, which I have yet to find in town. Or micro-torches. But the staff are helpful and seem quite knowledgeable. And the gallery has some beautiful glass pieces — makes me want to take a class there!

What a GREAT store! Contains everything you’d need to help you create glass art(mosaics, stained glass, fusion, etc.). The owner couldn’t be nicer! He spent lots of time allowing me to test out various glass cutters to see which I preferred and gave me tips as I was cutting! AWESOME! They have classes from beginner to advanced on stained glass and fusion at a reasonable price!

Blue Dolphin is all things glass. They create stained glass, sell supplies, sell beautiful stained glass pieces and also offer classes on creating stained and fused glass. I cannot speak to the internal production aspect of Blue Dolphin as I’ve never contracted them, but I can speak to the storefront/classes aspect. I had been looking for a stained glass class for a long time, and weighed my options — even though there weren’t many in San Diego. I gave Blue Dolphin a shot and I’m very glad I did! The class was approximately $ 150 for 6 sessions of 2 ½ hours. The instructor(and store owner) was extremely prepared and patient. He took the time to familiarize himself with the skill level of all students in the class — and catered his teachings to all of us. While tools are at your disposal while attending class, keep in mind that you WILL be responsible for buying items like glass, sodder and copper foil. These are relatively inexpensive, unless you choose the finer, more expensive glass. Items like cutters, pliers and sodder irons can also be purchased. They are pricier. But you really only need them if you’re hoping to continue making stained glass outside of class — as those tools are provided to you during class hours. Chances are you’ll be inspired to buy these things, so be warned. But they range in price, so you don’t need to buy top-of-the-line items. The store is at your disposal during class, so you can pick up whatever you need. Students walk away with one, thorough, completed project. They have many pattern options — so everyone walks away with something they love. If you’re looking for a fun, hands-on, friendly stained glass(or fused glass) class, I highly recommend this one. The staff are friendly, the projects are beautiful and you’ll meet like-minded crafty individuals.
