Less than 10 bites the lobster roll was gone. It was the length of a small plastic spoon. The lobster was a little dry but the buttered bun was soft crisp and I could eat that all day. I tried the clam chowder. It was hearty, filling but it left a weird metallic after taste I couldn’t get rid of.

My hopes were high… my heart was set… I…WAS…READY! Too bad Bite of Boston wasn’t ready for me. :/ Ordered a small side of the fried clams. While my husband thought he liked them, I could not get over the pooey taste of the whole bellies. Must be an acquired taste… The chowder was really good. Full of clams and I didn’t need to add any salt, so that is always a plus! Now the roll. It looked very promising and I couldn’t wait to dive in! First bite«Wow, this is pretty good, but I feel and taste something weird. Oh well– lobster can be weird sometimes– keep eating!» Second bite«Mmmm, bread is good and toasty buttery… wait…what is that texture?!?» Third bite«Ok, seriously? WHATISTHAT !!!» Let the dissection begin… Come to find out that the claw meat(and the roll is mostly claw meat by the way) is super spongy/dry and tasted like defrosted plastic. No Bueno! Upon questioning the staff, we come to find out that they ship in frozen, already cooked lobster meat, not whole fresh lobsters. The meat bag must of had a hole in it when they defrosted it, because submerging seafood directly into water to defrost is a no no, and the spongy texture/no flavor is why. All in all, would I go back? Maybe. I’m hoping maybe they just had a bad batch– but I don’t think I’m willing to spend another $ 50 to find out… :/

Lobster roll. Should be called Bite of Heaven instead of a Bite of Boston. Lobster roll. Did I mention the lobster roll? Okay so they fly their meats in from Boston, so I understand. The service was really nice too. I’m still dreaming about the lobster roll. I got the 6 inch but I should have gotten bigger. Go here and get the big one and then walk and bite into your little piece of heaven with every stride, around sunset… you can be alone or with someone… it will be a very good night. I promise! ;)

My response to the owner: The experience, aside from the Lobster meat, was just fine. I physically traveled to 2 stores, the second at which I ate. Counter staff at both places told me that no fresh lobsters were on the premises and that no Lobsters were cooked in any of the stores. Shipping previously cooked meat in to your stores is not fresh Lobster meat.

Hi Sir My husband and I had eaten at the Mission Beach branch Aug. 03 @ 1:21pm. I have been to the one in Lajolla and I was extremely shocked when I got to the Mission Beach location. As for my husband and I we would not come back to the Mission Beach location but are definately sticking to the on in Lajolla.

Super delicious Lobster Roll! A generous portion of fresh, tasty lobster is the star of the show, mixed with just a little filler to bring out the flavor, on a soft and yummy bun. We also ordered the WIcked Awesome Clam Chowda which was wonderfully flavorful, just the right consistency and bursting with clams. My husband also had some cole slaw(super tasty but not heavy). A cute, super casual spot with really nice service and terrific food — not super cheap but definitely a great value!

BOOM! Is what I shouted after my first bite. This is as close to the real thing as you’re going to get. The chowder and lobster roll were wicked good. I’m from Rhode Island and this was a taste of home.

Lobster roll! The lobster roll is full of huge, sweet chunks of lobster without being muddled by other flavors like mayo or fancy add-ons that have been tried at other places I’ve been before. The whole point when ordering a lobster roll is to enjoy the lobster, and they know how to make one here. Delicious! I had to order the«wicked awesome clam chowda» as well because I love clam chowder and I had to measure BoB’s version against ones I’ve loved in the past. Might tie as my favorite thus far for its rich flavor. My guy had the cheesesteak, which I’m assuming he enjoyed thoroughly since he had finished it before I barely had started in on my lobster roll. Love the laid-back vibe of the place, perfect for PB but the attention to the quality of food is what really would make me come back for my next lobster roll craving.

My husband and I each both started our meal off with an 8oz bowl of clam chowder. It was creamy but not to thick. On point. I ordered the 8″ lobster roll which was exactly how it’s described in other reviews: light on the mayo and plenty of lobster. Fresh tasting laying on nice light buttery toasted bread. It appears small but it was delicious. My husband got the«all the above» platter consisting of fried clams, scallops, shrimp, fish, and chips. All were fresh and lightly battered. He even appreciated the side of coleslaw and the tarter sauce. The only reason for the 4 and not 5 stars is that with a small drink and a bottled water, our bill came out to $ 52 which was more than I was hoping to spend. But whenever I do have a craving for a delicious lobster roll, BoB will definitely be my to go spot.

Had a fantastic lunch at Bite on a Sunday. It was about halfway full, we ordered and had our food within 5 minutes. The menu isn’t huge, but it has some great variety. The lobster roll was what brought us to Bite, as the wife was craving one. She took advantage of the Championship Special, an 8 inch lobster roll, drink and choice of soup for $ 15.95. I had Ethan’s, which is roast beef with swiss, grilled onions and horseradish with a side of potato salad. The lobster roll is legit. Very legit, it’s pretty much my perfect roll. Has the requisite buttery split top bun, but it goes a lot further than that. The lobster is tender and includes a lot of claw meat. It’s lightly dressed in mayo, not too much citrus, and only a small amount of additional seasoning/veggies. The lobster is clearly the star, but the back up players all bring something to the party without being too overwhelming. I was super impressed with this roll. My roast beef was good, but not nearly as good as the lobster roll. The horseradish is actual horseradish, which some people can find too strong, so be advised. It’s on a nice toasted bun. Again, this was a good sandwich, but paled next to the lobster roll. The potato salad was basic mustard potato salad. Similar to what you can get in lots of delis. The clam chowder is good, but needed pepper. It has a lot of veggies/clams, not just cream. They were nice enough to give us a taste of the lobster bisque, which I preferred to the chowder. The bisque is velvety smooth, has a hint of brandy and the lobster essence is strong. This was some great soup, I’ve frankly paid a lot more than Bite charges for their bisque other places and had far inferior soup. Next time, definitely getting the bisque. The guys are great, very friendly and appreciative of your business. I learned that rolls are $ 3 off on Mondays. Great deal, I’ll be taking advantage.

First of all, I love the Celtics! Loved how they had a picture of Russell on their wall. The guy that helped me out at the register was super nice! I loved his Bostonian accent! The cooks were super friendly too. Got their lunch deal: $ 17.50 for their large lobster roll, a drink, and a bowl of their«wicked» clam chowda. I was in heaven. Ha! I really enjoyed the roll. It was not drenched in mayo … not too salty … it was perfect. Parking can be difficult, but it’s PB. Best location!

BEST lobster roll in the area! Dip it in their house made lobster bisque, it’s super yummy.

Got the lobster roll and a cup of clam chow with a soda deal for $ 15. The lobster roll was good, lotsa lobster, but a very rather smaller sandwich than anticipated. Apparently they ship the rolls and lobster all the way from Boston… And it definitely tasted fresh and mmmmmmMMM GOOD :) The clam chowder was just ok, I heard it’s better than the lobster bisque though. Will likely come back to try another of one of their many different options of sandwiches again.

I’ve been here twice and both times I’ve been pleased with the service and the food. The first time I came in, I ordered the Philly Cheesesteak. Odd right? I go to a Boston place to eat something from Philly. Reason being is there are a few really good cheesesteak places in Pacific Beach, and I wanted to see how BoB would stack up. The cheesesteak here was actually close to being on par with Pops Jersey Style down Garnet. Alex’s Brown Bag is still the king of cheesesteaks, but considering that sandwich isn’t the staple of BoB — they did a good job. On my second visit I ordered what this place is known for — The Lobster Roll. It did not disappoint. The roll itself was toasty and had great texture and the lobster was fresh and delicious. I only got the small one because it came with clam chowder in a deal. The clam chowder was phenomenal. I even dipped the Lobster Roll into the Clam Chowder and this made for an awesome flavor clash. BoB also has special discounts for military members, which I happen to be. This is a great sandwich and soup stop, and it’s in a great spot right across from Duck Dive on Mission Boulevard. I’ll be going back soon to get my hands on another lobster roll!

This place is kind of annoying. We came on a Saturday for lunch and it really wasn’t that busy. We ordered 2 lobster rolls to go, plus fish and chips. Everyone that ordered after us got their food first. We also asked about the frequent sandwich card and the manager told us it was only for regular sandwiches, but he would still mark them off. I understand that they wouldn’t give you a free lobster roll, but the lobster rolls should at least count toward your free sandwich since they are several dollars more. After painfully waiting, we finally get our food and when we get to our car, this kid needs a jump. I am digressing from the review for a second… if you are old enough to operate a vehicle and reading this, please take note. If not one, but two strangers(another guy stopped to help as well) are being kind and helping you, DONOTSITINYOURFRICKENCARANDEAT A GRANOLABAR!!! We finally get home 30 minutes later(and we only live 5 minutes away) and guess what?! B o’ B only gave us ONE lobster roll, even though we ordered and paid for 2. I told my BF to go back, but he figured because so much time had passed(with our good, yet annoying deed for the day) that they would probably think we were trying to scam them. Annoying day all around. I should also note that my BF went back recently and said it was really dry and almost not worth going back anymore.

I tried out Bite of Boston last weekend and was pleasantly surprised! Who knew this little hidden gem existed in Pacific Beach? Let alone on Garnet Street? The 8 inch lobster roll was the perfect amount of bread to lobster proportion. They were heavy on lobster meat and not a ton of mayo which is always key. How was the roll? Buttered and lightly toasted to perfection. Mind you, the day I tried it I got a Unilocal«barfley» badge from bar hopping for one of my best friend’s birthday bar crawls but it was the PERFECT treat in between all of the drinking! Was that TMI?

I’m not from the east coast, I’m from SoCal and I’m a fan! Like some other reviewers mentioned it does«look» small, but when you think about how many ounces of meat there is, then it’s totally worth it. I would guestimate that the meat is equivalent to about the size of two or three maine lobster tails(in the 8″ roll). Not only was it the right portion, it didn’t have too much mayo either… just enough! I also had the 8 oz clam chowder, and it was the perfect accompaniment to the lobster roll. Clams the size of a dime!!!

Being from Mass, I find myself craving a little east coast love I drove by this place a few weeks ago, and decided I must try it! Staff was very friendly– and made me feel right at home. Lobster roll– delish. some of the reviews said it was small– but that is exactly what a lobster roll back east looks like! Its Lobster people… I did not feel like it was small. Clam Chowdah– got my approval. I will be coming back to try those clams people are raving about!

Clean facilities, friendly enough staff, very quick service. Lobster rolls are just as filled with fresh lobster as I remember them at their other locations. Don’t let those other two 1-star reviews scare you away, but realize what this place is– some good, Boston style fast/convenience food and sandwiches. Oh and the soda machine at this place is SOCOOL! I realize its a little gimicky to focus on but it’s got every type of beverage you may be craving. It had 6 diff types of powerade zero for crying out loud! So entertaining!!! You impress me boy, and I’m not easily impressed… Ooh look a blue car!
