I’m sorry, but I walked in there expecting to pay at the very most for lunch was $ 30 max. Neither my friend or I drink, we both had water. We had shared the ceviche appetizer and we both had the Caesar salad with mahi mahi. The bill was over $ 60.00! I don’t care how fresh the fish was, that was extremely expensive! I will not be going there again.

I was here Thursday night. We ordered macadamia halibut and the fish and chips and a sushi roll. The sushi was basic. Don’t come here expecting a real sushi bar. They just have a guy who cuts fish and puts it in/on rice in nigiri or a roll, not a sushi chef and their rice is not actually sushi rice. If you know sushi, do not eat it here. It’s fine if you just want basic rolls but even these are overpriced when you can go to a real sushi bar and pay less or the same for a better experience. Think sushi from whole foods Cold Case and you would be on the right track. They do weird things with sauces that mask the fish in the sushi and their main dishes. It seems suspicious since they supposedly have fresh fish daily. You would think that if I’m paying that much for fresh fish, they would understand I want to be able to taste the fish. My halibut and my fish and chips both came out Superdry because they overcooked it. I really wanted to like this place, since it is in the Bay Park neighborhood. There are a few good places in the neighborhood now. The service seems scattered with many an experienced people. I had plates sitting on our table forever. Even once the entrees came they didn’t bother taking the way our appetizer plates to give us a bit more room. It doesn’t really seem like they care what the place looks like because it is a mishmash of stuff. None of our silverware was the same, the chairs in the place are all different colors and different seats. Nothing matches. The only running theme of the place is it’s obviously owned by some fishermen. I don’t think that they clean up during business hours at all. When we walked in there were napkins crayons and paper on the floors under our table and in the walkways. No one bothered to sweep up the whole time we were there. For a restaurant with entrees that are between $ 29 and $ 30, I would expect a lot more. With so many great restaurant choices in San Diego now, I will choose to take my hard earned money where my experience and my food are valued.

Well, the menu, sushi bar have been restored to the pre-upgrade status. We have been back several time since the restoration and can’t be happier. The staff as always is great, food always cooked to perfection, and the local ambiance prevails. Highly recommend this place !

Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. Today I lost. I was recommended Bay Park Fish Company by a friend, I must have done something to offend her. The ambiance of the place is cool, I dig it. They have a pretty vast beer selection which is also pretty cool. But turns out the serve pretty overpriced and bad food. If you are looking at this and want a lobster taco, get in the car and go down to Blue Water Grill. Night and day comparison, the taco at Bay Park fish was terrible. I took one bite and tricked my girlfriend into taking a bite and was lucky enough to find a bit of lobster claw in her bite. To be honest all we had were both the lobster and mahi mahi but it was enough to convince us not to come back.

We used to be regulars here and the food was phenomenal. We live in Escondido and making the trek to Bay Park was never an issue because we knew we were in for a treat. Sadly, since they got a new head chef the quality has gone way down. We went about a month that ago and not only did they take the fresh fish sandwich off the lunch menu but they also changed the tuna melt and coleslaw. We were given a survey after that meal and had the chance to voice our opinions. Before giving it a shot yesterday we called ahead to see if they added back the fresh fish sandwich, luckily they had. They also changed the bread back on the tuna melt. Unfortunately despite making the changes the quality was not there. Instead of a nice halibut filet on my fish sandwich I got chopped up halibut bits. My husbands tuna melt had hardly any butter on his bread(the old tuna melt was buttery, decadent and sooooo good!) and the fries were not cooked. After this we decided we would not be back. We never minded paying the somewhat high prices, $ 50 – 55 for two people including drinks, before because it was so good but not anymore. I hope the owner realizes that the changes are affecting business and takes back control over that kitchen.

We had a group get together and Mark Muller and his staff did an excellent job for us. We will have more meetings here for our group and they were very accommodating.

Horrible wait time for service, and the food was just so-so but well over priced. They used to have great food on the menu but since the remodel a while back, they’re not quite the same as they used to be. I won’t be going back to this place.

Great food and great service! We had a large party of fishermen in tonight and all the fish was on point! My husband and I split the sword fish sandwich and the green chili burrito with mahi, both were amazing! My son had the halibut rolled tacos and was in heaven! We will be coming back to try the brunch on the weekend!

Love that the owners took the Unilocal reviews to heart and decided to respond by bringing back some of the original menu items ! Bay Park Fish, you have a good thing going. This restaurant has a loyal following, a great vibe and great food ! For those who gave up after the changes, give them another chance, they listened to you !

Apparently my first review did not endear me to the establishment. Utilizing Unilocal’s suggestions I will try again. This once great little neighborhood restaurant is now awful. The menu is what, a suggestion of what might have been. They don’t offer the first three things I point out on the menu. Our party of six was seated in an empty restaurant, yet we wait for 15 minutes to be addressed by wait staff. Wait staff seems annoyed we are asking for food and drink. They have sushi, just not the things listed on the menu. Suggestions: 1. Train your staff. They should greet customers warmly and as quickly as possible. 2. Print new menu’s that have offerings you can present in a timely fashion. You had a winning formula for years, perhaps retreating to that will be very helpful.

Yay! «New» executive chef that jacked up the menu — Gone! Old menu is back!!! Dropped back in expecting to just order fish & chips and see what was up — 3 weeks without my halibut burrito with Mac sauce was 3 weeks too long. Safe to come back now guys…

OMG — sheeeesh!!! All this uproar over a new menu?! Peeps… Seriously. Change is inevitable. When I mentioned that I missed the seared ahi salad, they assured me it is going back on the menu, that this is a draft menu and they are happy to hear feedback from patrons. I ordered the new steak and it is fabulous!!! Always fun to try something new. I haven’t been here for awhile, and by the way, I LOVE the décor changes. We used to really love the family-style photo walls of people with their catch, but now I’m really appreciating what they’ve done instead — a nice step up. The staff is always friendly and I love the vibe here: from the dog-friendly patio, to the excellent chalk-art and new décor. The ONLY change I would like to see is the teal rope lighting outside on the front of the building! I really miss the wave-shaped rope lighting… #bringitback! I’m happy they are growing, and I wish this establishment the best of luck! :)

Wow. After over ten years of patronage and enjoyment, this place found a way to completely turn me off in one visit. Menu change is a train wreck. You can have halibut tacos for lunch but not dinner. Was told rudely by the waiter there was no salad with fish served at dinner. Confusing lunch vs. dinner menu and the management and staff I had never seen there before were adversarial and rude. I honestly thought there was an ownership change. I get changing your menu and have eaten at BP Fish Co across several menus, but while their menu was large before now it is very restrictive and has dropped a number of options. My father told me he was going to get the shrimp po boy, which I pointed out was for lunch and not dinner, so I was trying to follow but the waiter still seemed angry I didn’t get they don’t offer the same fish taco options at dinner as they do at lunch. Sure, that makes sense for a fish shop. Paid over $ 100 for dinner for me, my dad and two kids. Expressed my frustration with the ridiculously limited menu options and rude waiter, and basically got a shrug. You guys could have at least knocked a beer off my bill. Go to Luce if you are in the area or The Fishery or Fish Shop if you want seafood. As a ten year plus patron it pains me to say: don’t go here.

Best brussel sprouts in San Diego!(Even better than Stone Brewery’s, which is saying something.) Other favorites are the ceviche and carnitas nachos. It’s a pretty good neighborhood restaurant. Service can be hit or miss though. And the quality of the coffee needs to be upgraded… but besides that, I’d recommend this restaurant.

We had an array of food at this restaurant and have nothing but great things to say. You can tell they use good fish on all of their plates. Highly recommend the king pao calamari. We had the happy hour deal and it was only $ 8 for a HUGE plate. Also highly recommend the steamed clams in an awesome cilantro butter. For the main entrée I tried a fish taco(also on their happy hour menu) and shared Joses Green Chili Burrito with halibut. Don’t let the price scare you away because the halibut is well worth it. Give this place a try!

Came here for a quick bite after going through Balboa Park. Great selection of beers and a happy hour bonus of a bean($ 1) off your draft. I ordered the crab cakes from the Happy Hour menu and it was just OK. Was a bit bland, but the Remoulade was amazing — once you dig it out from the 10lbs of carrots that cover it(see pict). Maybe add a shallot to your crab cake and ditch the carrots. The chowder was a bit funky. It’s going to be the type that you either like or hate. It’s not the traditional New England style but a variation of the traditional composed of sweet corn, clams, mini diced potatoes, and a lot of lemon. And it was an off shade of green — not your pleasant white. The combo of sweet corn and bitterness just wasn’t for me. I think for the price — it’s better to order an entrée. But given the solid three stars from other reviewers — this is really the kinda fish joint that you are going to like or go somewhere else. Nice patio with heaters for those cool nights.

I found this restaurant by accident on Google Maps. This hidden restaurant is amazing. We had mussels, oysters and calamari for appetizers. My seared ahi tuna with jasmine rice was perfection. I highly recommend the halibut, it tasted like it was just caught that day — it was so fresh. I plan on returning many times on my next visits to San Diego.

My Swordfish Picatta for $ 28 was breaded, which took me by surprise. It came with mashed potatoes, 3 carrots and 3 asparagus. The entrée was smothered in a rich caper butter sauce which I didn’t enjoy. The buttery sauce was way too rich, and although the swordfish was tender, it was entirely too heavy, as it was breaded, fried, and surrounded by the butter sauce. I won’t order this again. I might consider trying the grilled swordfish sandwich if I return. I’ve been to Bay Park Fish Company several times in recent years. It’s never my first choice, but my mother enjoys it, and I’m happy to accompany her when she requests it. I sent my iced tea back, as it tasted a bit off and cloudy. It didn’t taste fresh to me. This restaurant is a bit dingy and in need of a sprucing up and a remodel. It’s located off Morena Blvd on Ashton Street. For $ 28 an entrée, I can find excellent seafood in a more upscale atmosphere at other restaurants. Or I can find good seafood and a buzzy atmosphere in a gastropub, with better prices.

Bay Park Fish provides a pretty good happy hour. Certainly not the best I have encountered, but a good one worth checking out. They offer a line of draft beers for $ 1 off, and a few selected menu items: a list that also included basic sushi rolls. So after taking a sip out of my Kirin Light, I order a $ 3 happy hour grilled mahi mahi taco on a corn tortilla and a basic spicy salmon roll for $ 6. The mahi mahi fish taco was good, but it needed some more filling, and I am not referring to the fish, but more of the other ingredients, such as the shredded cabbage, pico de gallo, and that creamy white sauce. The mahi mahi was well prepared to a tender succulent touch, and was very lightly seasoned. The corn tortilla was good. The red salsa that came along the side was good. It had a nice mix of flavors and a small bite. The spicy salmon roll was impressive. It was simple yet provided some flavors and textures. To my great pleasure, the salmon was not chopped and minced, it was whole pieces and was quite good. The roll came stuffed with some crunchy micro greens and topped with a dab of a Sriracha blend hot sauce. Both were quite good and were the greens provided a nice clean texture and the hot sauce a little heat. It was a good roll and I really liked the sesame seed that dotted the rice of the rolls. I ate at the bar and service was pretty good. The girl who dropped by fish taco off at the bar was not much of a conversationalist, but the sushi chef was. To sum it up, it was overall a very good experience.

Definitivamente el mejor lugar de San Diego para comer platillos hechos con pescado fresco. Original, buen sason, y precios accesibles. Para rollos y sushi tambien bastante recomendable. Cuando supe de este lugar deje de it al Fish Market!
