It is very exciting that Lee is experimenting with yeast strains that bring down the gluten levels in their beer. Looking forward to the final results

One of San Diego’s smallest brewers. Available at BLAH and Tiger Tiger. The one beer I had was pretty good. It was the Bones Brown Ale availabe at Tiger Tiger. Sometimes ales are a hit or miss for me. I did enjoy this one with its malty flavor.

ABC happens to be BLAH’s in-house brewing operation. According to their one liter growler, they have the capability to crafter two barrels(62 gallons) at a time. I’ve been lucky to score two growler’s of Automatic’s first few beers. I missed out on Chocolate Rain and Sex Panther on tap so when I found out about the growler runs, I jumped on the opportunity. The two I’ve had so far are the coffee imperial brown(run of 50) and Will Power IPA(25, 20 of which were for sale to public). I’m not a huge beer nerd, but I’ll do this Beeradvocate style. Coffee Imperial Brown: A– nice dark hue that’s not quite as murky as Guinness with a head of an eighth inch. [I’m not the most diligent with my glassware but] the head adhered to my pint and left remnants clinging. S– The coffee really shows up in the nose, mild roast that’s far from robust French Roast styled beans. T/M — There wasn’t too much development from the moment it touched my lips, to midtaste and finish but it satisfied my coffee fiending palate. It was clean. Not as viscous or mouth-filling as I’d imagined it to be. There wasn’t too much effervescence but… D– that makes it really easy and pleasant to drink. Dare I say almost chuggable… but then you couldn’t appreciate the great coffee flavor. Last thought– it’s too bad that this is a limited run b/c I’d like to have another taste. — Will Power IPA: A– light straw, nice clarity. Not much head present… just a little on the glass edge. A few beads formed and rose up the pint. S– Smelled hoppy? Is there an Ann Noble beer wheel? Sorry that’s what I thought. Didn’t mull over it too much and just drank. T– The beer tasted sweet on the first touch, gave me piney bitterness that lingered with me through to past the end. Besides its persistence, it was I think of when IPA comes to mind except not as punchy and aggressive as the Arrogant ones from N.C. M– It was thinner and didn’t coat too much. D– Yes, very much like a summer day by the pool with your friends. I can’t wait to try whatever ABC comes out with next.
