I’ve never been to this office or any of their other offices. I’ve never met any of the doctors or staff. I had a surgery at Sharp Memorial(7901 Frost St. San Diego, CA92123) on June 20, 2015. Post-surgery, Sharp’s sleep center offered to do a sleep/apnea study based on my demographic information from admission. I agreed since I started snoring earlier in the year. Plus, it was supposedly covered by my insurance, Aetna PPO. A couple of months later I received a bill from AKANE Institute. I wasn’t sure how or why I got a bill from this company when I’ve never been associated with them. After some research I connected the dots. Sharp sent my results to AKANE Institute for«reading.» The provider that showed up on my insurance claim and the bill I received was«Anoop Karippot.» I guess it’s interpreting the results; similar to a radiology doctor interpreting an X-Ray or Ultrasound. Here’s the problem: The billing they sent me is very confusing. The submitted charges to my insurance was $ 200, insurance paid $ 60.59. My patient responsibility came out to $ 15.15. I sent a payment through my bill pay on 09÷17÷15(yes, I wrote the account number on the check’s memo line). The payment was cashed on 09÷28÷15. Today, 10÷10÷15, I received a «Collection Statement» dated 10÷06÷15. The enveloped is postmarked 10÷7÷15. The check was cashed five(5) business days before they generated the«Collection Statement.» I think there’s something wrong with the way this office process their billing. I would not trust a company with poor billing process/practice.
