Great cuts. Jan cuts during the week and Gary cuts on weekends. Both of them have lots of knowledge on the local area and I end up getting a haircut and a few history lessons on SD or a tip on what a good spot to explore is each time I go. I’d call ahead, they have a steady stream of clients.

The experience at 3rd ace bs was phenomenal. Not all ritzy but just simple down to earth atmosphere. My haircut was one of the best I’ve had! She takes her time so that it’s done right. Told me where my problem areas are (cowlicks)…I’ve never ben told that in 40years. So funny and so awesome! Would highly recommend.

Just had one of the best haircuts I’ve ever had from Gary at third Avenue barbershop. He paid attention to every detail and finished with a hot shave on my neck. It was only $ 25 for an awesome haircut, and I will return every time I need a haircut.

You just can’t beat it. Jan is phenomenal at her craft and an excellent person. Just started coming here, and it will now be my haircut spot! Great, quiet location in downtown SD. Easy walk from my office on First and Broadway. Appointment recommended!

Solid haircut from Jan. Was traveling and needed an impromptu trim before an event. I called and she worked me into her day. Charming lady who has been cutting men’s hair at this location for over 14 years.
A cut is $ 25 and bring cash or check. No credit cards here. But there are plenty of ATMs within a block or so.

Best barbershop I have found in San Diego. Grey and Jan are great at what they do they are a typical old school barbers great haircut, strait razor shaves, friendly and knowable about everything. And haircuts ranging $ 20 – 25 can’t beat it. I would suggest calling for an appointment they book up quick.

A downtown institution. Been coming here for years and getting my hair clipped by Jan… in fact, I don’t refer to it as getting a haircut… rather, I refer to it as getting Janscaped.
Great service, great location, reasonably priced, and I enjoy the candy jar that is always filled with Hershey Kisses. Old school vibe and Jan even performs the old school barber shave. Jan also doubles as my pyschiatrist and is great to talk with.

Top notch barbershop. Barber there, I wish I remember his name, was super nice and very thorough. He took me on short notice, and showed a tremendous amount of courtesy when asking me what it was I wanted. Awesome guy. The shop itself also has a really cool old meets new kinda vibe. I’m going back.

JAN HAS BEEN CUTTING MY HAIR FOR OVER 14 YRS AND NO ONE ELSE WILL CUT MY HAIR UNLESS I AM OUT OF TOWN (this has only happened twice in 14 yrs)

I stopped into the shop today as I was feeling shaggy. I should have called first as appointments are preferred. Jan managed to fit me in after a very short wait in a comfortable leather chair. Twenty minutes later, I left the shop with one of the beat cuts I have ever had. I will definitely return to the shop when I am in town.

Jan, generally in Tuesday through Thursday, is excellent. Barbers cut a man’s hair with scissors and skill — hairdressers are just not the same. This woman is a real find. She has been cutting my hair for 4 years. I keep sending my friends to her, and they are all delighted. The best.

Gary is an old-​school barber who gave me the first decent haircut I’ve had in 8 years. I’ll definitely be back. The haircut was $ 25, which seems about right for downtown.
Walk-​ins are welcome, but when I went on a Saturday he was booked solid, so an appointment might be needed.
