Great food — wonderful staff — will definitely go back! And they have pork roll(Taylor Ham, whatever name you prefer!)

I’ve been here a couple times and they never disappoint. Everything is always fresh. I always get the cheesesteak with peppers and mushrooms and it’s always so good! They usually have a Unilocal!Coupon for free fries or something.

Stopped for a quick bite on the way to Disneyland and so glad we did! What a great find! Really satisfying sandwich, loaded with meat, just the right amount of cheese and the perfect hoagie bread. Will definitely be back.

Just opened. Best Cheesesteaks in town. Still fine tuning so expect some minor delays. Great addition to eateries in our Spanish Village by the Sea.

I have only been here twice. On both occasions, I have had the Italian. I would not change a thing. The sandwich was perfect. I love the fact that they use Boars Head meat and cheese. Kudos

I love the cheese steaks here, I have been coming here since they have opened and I swear I have put on about 20 pounds. It was worth it, the staff is always super friendly. I highly recommend the«Philly’s Best» peppers and shrooms, YUM!

Great subs whether you go with a Philly cheese steak or chicken steak. Bread is always perfect! I haven’t tried their burgers or hoagies yet. The cheese fries are a bust though, in my opinion — wasn’t a fan of the type of cheese they use(like valveta or cheese whiz — but hey if you like that, you’re in luck). Great customer service; their employees are always smiling, welcoming, and friendly.

I’m so happy a Philly’s best location has opened up in my hometown! The cheesesteaks don’t disappoint and the staff is very friendly and helpful! :-D I’ve already been several times since they opened and have continually been pleased with my experience! Thanks Philly’s Best San Clemente for your great food and service! :-)

I was on vacation and stopped by this place for a quick snack :) I was greeted by the nicest waitstaff that served up a great pepper steak with mushrooms. And of course I got the cheesesteak fries… how could you leave without an order of that haha. If you want something slightly healthier, of course they have the salads too. I actually think this is comparable to the cheesesteaks I got in Philly when I visited a few months ago. If anything, the meat is more tender here :)! Highly recommended!!!

I’ve tried Boos, Whiz and Figueroa Philly, but Philly’s best is by far my favorite. It’s super authentic and they get their ingredients shipped over from Philly. I love their cheese steak fries. Love the new addition to this plaza and will be back weekly! Great customer service and I would definitely recommend it if you haven’t tried it.

I feel like I need to preface this review by first saying that I’m a huuuuuuge lover of philly cheesesteaks… huge. So although I do get pretty excited whenever trying a new spot for the first time, I also tend to set some pretty high expectations for them as well. So yea, I was pretty happy after taking that first bite and realizing I had just discovered a new legit spot I could add to my somewhat short list of cheesesteak places in California that I think are far above the rest and worth visiting. The sandwich I got was so good! I ordered the pepperoni cheesesteak, which I highly recommend to anyone that loves pepperoni, as the savoriness and flavor of their cheesesteak was awesome combined with the saltiness of their pepperoni. I also thought the meat to bread ratio of their sandwich was perfect! Sidenote I absolutely hate going to cheesesteak places that skimp when it comes to the meat. I feel like that should be illegal or something as it goes against the very definition of what a philly cheesesteak is. It’s like going to a waterslide park that’s trying to conserve water(no offense California water drought, I see you). Me and my friend also ordered a side of their fries and onion rings which I thought were both really really good not just in flavor but also their crispy texture. I came on the weekend when there was a bit of a line but it moved surprisingly quick with workers that were very friendly and helpful. I loved this place on my first visit and definitely want to come back again soon to try their other sandwiches.

Am I embarrassed that I ate Philly’s Best two days in a row? NEVER!!! Granted I’ve never had an authentic Philly cheesesteak from Philly before, the ones here are delicious! My boyfriend has been to Philly and he says the cheesesteaks they have here aren’t too far from the authentic ones over on the east coast! We shared«Philly’s Best» which is cheesesteak with sweet peppers and mushrooms(order it with Cheese Whiz!) it was so mouthwatering, delicious, juicy steak and overflowing with oozing cheese. I couldn’t get enough of it. One cheesesteak is MORETHANENOUGH for 2 people. We were literally so full. Add the free hot cherry peppers to your cheesesteak! It gives the sandwich a spicy kick. We also ordered the Italian Market salad which comes with Capicola, Genoa salami, mortadella and provolone cheese served on a bed of lettuce with tomatoes and onions. Fresh salad prepared right in front of you! Huge chunks of meat and cheese. Glad to know Philly’s Best is right down the street from my boyfriends house, we will definitely be back often!

This 3 star review is an average of 4-star sandwich and 2-star fries. The fries were warm and soft, but there was zero salt or flavor. You got salt them right out the fryer so it sticks. The sandwich although not huge nor packed full of meat(as noted in other reviews) was really tasty. I had the steak with wiz, onions, and sweet peppers, definitely worth the extra buck. I will be back for one of those, but will pass on the fries unless they figured out the salt situation. Probably a healthy idea anyway(like that’s important!)

First time to a Philly’s Best. Ive been to Charley’s and great steak escape, but this is a different level. They make an effort to keep it authentic with bread and dessert imported from Philly, but put their own spin on it with things like Philly cheesesteak fries. Think carne asada fries but cheesesteaks! The cook is also from Philly I went with a few friends and we got a little bit of everything and everything was damn good. The owner gave a few recommendations that were spot on too: 1. The dill pickles(free at the pickle bar) 2. Add marinara sauce to pepperoni cheesesteak. So good. Onion rings are usually a splurge over fries, but I would recommend the fries over the rings. Balances perfectly with the melty cheese of the sandwich.

Nice clean new location. I have eaten at the Aliso Viejo and Lake Forest locations on many occasion. Same consistency as those stores, so I wasn’t disappointed. I only get a steak sandwich and fries here so I can’t comment on other items. But as always I enjoyed my sandwich. My only complaint: it was gross watching the counter worker touch the food with her hands, right after handling money. No hand wash in between. Not appetizing.

Philly’s Best serves up classic Philadelphia comfort food in the form of a sandwich with your choice of mushrooms, sweet peppers, pepperoni, cheese, or plain. Their extensive menu even includes chicken sandwiches with all the same topping choices as mentioned previously, vegetarian options, different types of hoagies, burgers, and kids meals. You can’t go wrong with any of their sandwiches and although they’re well known for their cheesesteaks, their chicken sandwiches, hoagies, and burgers are also good choices. My favorite is their legendary mushroom steak with white American cheese. Every component of their sandwiches are made of quality ingredients, shipped from Philly multiple times a week to ensure freshness. The soft Amoroso rolls are the perfect size and holds all of the ingredients sturdily. The main star of the sandwich is the tender and thinly sliced Boar’s Head steak at a generous 6 ounces. And the cherry on top is of course the classic white American cheese and the perfectly sautéed mushrooms. I’m also a huge fan of the cherry hot peppers that offer a perfect kick of flavor. If you enjoy having a side with your sandwich, their fries(upgrade to the cheese fries or cheesesteak fries if you’d like) or onion rings are solid options. Service is friendly and attentive– from the cashiers to the cooks to the owners. You can tell that this establishment is family owned by the quality of service and product that they produce. This place is stocked full of memorabilia from the City of Brotherly Love which is pretty neat. I also love that they offer sodas, chips, and desserts native to Philly. Grab a cheesesteak and head over to the beach!

Philly’s Best is home to some LEGIT cheesesteaks!!! Whether you get yours with or without grilled onions, peppers or mushrooms is up to you. But unless you have an extreme aversion to dairy, you absolutely must get it with CHEESEWHIZ! Oh yes. No cheesesteak is complete without a healthy drizzle of that liquid golden crack in a can. It seriously elevates the sandwich to another level compared to regular cheese and is the most authentic way to experience a Philly cheesesteak. Putting my love for canned cheese to the side for a second, I think the thing that really separates Philly’s Best from the competition is the bread. You can get steak anywhere, but not many places have the delightfully chewy and delicious Amoroso rolls that they use which are actually delivered fresh from Philadelphia twice a week! You can’t get much more authentic than that. Forget that other sandwich shop in this plaza that actually does zero cooking and is far from fresh, and head on over to Philly’s Best. Highly recommended!
