I can’t say enough about the Kale Quinoa Steak Salad, but I also recommend checking out their daily menu. There is always something new and exciting added. Practically everything is Gluten Free– but you would never know!

I came a few times in 2015 while I worked in the area, sometimes to watch the Warriors games. The food was always delicious(I particularly loved their pastas) and the wine selections good. The service was welcoming. I wish I still worked in the area so I could come again!

My Pinot Noir wine flight was basically 3 full size glasses and the $ 16 Barbeque Prawn appetizer was hearty, surprisingly sophisticated, and crazy full of flavor. I know this reference will be lost on just about everyone but if you’re from Chicagoland they’re the closest I’ve tasted to Russell’s Barbecue sauce flavor in years. Crazy good, despite the plate not being the most attractive at first glance. The wine flight was $ 24 which is more than I would normally spend on groceries for a week, but it had been a loooong day and I was thirsty and in the end it ended up being a great value with the trio of extra generous pours. Inside is cute. Probably fine for a date but the bar is nice to go alone and check out what’s on the TV behind the bar(probably some crappy CBS show, but maybe 60 Minutes if you’re lucky) or read a book if you’re into that and don’t just subscribe to an audiobook app so you can pretend like you actually read a book.

They offer kid items now, just ask the waiter. Owner is almost always there and when he’s there, service is better.

Inviting wine bar/restaurant, nice wine list with very generous pours, and friendly service on a Sunday. Also, the bathroom was spotless, which can tell you a lot about a restaurant. We will be back!

Well, it’s nice they are opening up all these wine bars and pubs in San Carlos, but no, it’s not nice when they close at 10pm(or worse, 8−9pm on Sundays!). Closing that early means that whoever went to dinner somewhere else in town would not be able to come here to get a drink afterwards. Unless you somehow eat dinner at 6pm. I’ve been here for drinks and got asked out only after 30 mins, because they were closing. That was before I read their hours. The next time we visited, we didn’t even come here for the drinks. We just wanted to grab some food on a Sunday night in San Carlos, and nothing was open. Seriously, I never understand this because 1) there are many people who want more than fast food, and 2) people eat late brunches on Sundays. Well, this big city girl has a hard time understanding suburbia. After some negotiations another couple had with the bartender, we ended up getting seated. The restaurant was extremely reluctant in seating us because«the kitchen is almost closing and they decided to clean up early». Oh wow, there are people who would actually pour money down the drain! In all honesty, the food was good. I would definitely come back and have one of their flatbreads again. They also have some serious sliders and burgers offering. Half of their menu look like«bar food», and yet they don’t like to offer it while the bar is still open. I’d say missed opportunity — I’d be more ok with it if they advertised this place as a restaurant, not a wine bar. Would I visit again? Perhaps, if a friend suggested it. However, we weren’t treated nicely, and the service was slow. We were fast eaters(as were the other couple that got in before us), and seriously, if any of the staff had to leave late it was because they were taking forever to serve us. 15 mins just to get anyone’s attention to give us the check… maybe someone is not so keen to be off work after all.

I thought everything was alright here. Nothing spectacular, nothing terrible. Food is decent, not great. I ordered the turkey burger which came with carmelized onions, a mustard sauce, and other things you’d usually find on a burger. But ALL I could taste was the mustard. And it burned my mouth. I’m sure the rest of the burger was delicious, but I wouldn’t know because the mustard sauce was so overpowering and there was so much of it. I did occasionally taste the onions, but that’s it. My burger also came with fries, which were normal fries. Like as long as the fries aren’t soggy or drenched in oil, I have no complaints. My friend ordered their special: meatballs with pesto ravioli. The meatballs came undercooked with the insides pink and squishy. My friend was grossed/weirded out and politely asked for it to be further cooked. In the meantime, the server brought out a salad from the chef, which was nice! However, when the meatballs came back, my friend was sufficiently weirded out by them and just kind of pushed them back and forth across her plate. But she did say that the raviolis were delicious! I would’ve ordered them, except that their pesto has nuts(and I have a nut allergy). Service is decent. The server was nice and friendly and gave wine suggestions and even a sample. However, service was pretty slow. We appreciated how the server and chef brought out a salad for having undercooked the meatballs, we thought it was nice of them. Décor/ambience is cute and nice. It’s a relatively small place and feels very cozy. We came on a Wednesday night not expecting many people, but the place was nearly packed. There’s also some outdoor seating that looked cute next to those heater things, so you don’t freeze. Wine and wine selection is great! The server gave great suggestions from their wine list and samples! I ended up with a zinfandel that the server recommended, and loved how it was the perfect sweetness for me!

I honestly can’t tell you the experience here was good or even ok. I came here because I was is in the area and wanted to try something new with decent reviews. I walked in and sat at the bar which was great. However, when I asked about the wine on the menu the bartender had no clue or to be honest I don’t think he was even old enough to understand wine and it’s purpose. His recommendations were so bad I almost couldn’t swallow what he poured. If your going to serve alcohol you should know a thing or two about the drinks on your menu. I ordered a 3 cheese plate and a turkey burger. The cheese plate came out pretty quickly as I didn’t think it wouldn’t since nobody is making anything. It took a couple of minutes to enjoy it because no silverware was there for me to use. As for the Turkey burger, I believe it was not served until another 30 minutes after the cheese plate arrived. I don’t know why that was but when I asked the waiter on status of the order he had some reason on why it was taking so long. 30 minutes is quite ridiculous if you ask me. When the food finally came there was no taste to the burger at all. It was bland and just boring. Also, no ketchup or mustard was offered. I would think when a burger is served you ask if anything is needed? I can’t recommend anything about this place. The service is slow, the food is boring and bland and the knowledge of the bar staff is not impressive.

Wine is overpriced and always makes me a little mad but my gfs like it so — ok fine. However after a $ 250 bill, they asked to take one of our tables for ‘a big party’ — rude. Will find it hard to come back.

Came here for date night. The bf and I split a cheese platter and had one or two glasses of wine each. The total came out to $ 80 dollars, which is pretty pricey considering we were still hungry after. Good location on Laurel Street, good to come here if you want to be fancy and splurge a little bit on dinner.

I’ve always driven past The Cask and wanted to check it out, and finally had the opportunity to check them out for lunch. We came in around 11:45am on a Friday, and there was plenty of seating at that time. We were able to grab a table on the patio, and we tried: –Cantaloupe Brulee Buratta Salad(Arugula, Peach, Proscuitto, Honey Balsamic, Rose Syrup, $ 14, ): Definitely an interesting concept, and I’ve never had brulee’d cantaloupe before. It was interesting to have brulee’d cantaloupe, but I wish the cantaloupe were more ripe. The rest of the salad was pretty solid, but not so amazing that I would definitely order it again. –Japanese Kobe Beef Rossini(Foie Gras, Black Truffle Cheese, Black Truffle Sauce, Served w/Sweet Potato Fries, $ 22, ): Not bad, but the patty was way too rare for me, especially since I ordered them medium. I’m usually a big fan of pink, but I was actually too worried to eat the entire patty and ended up eating around the entire middle section. Overall the burger was really rich, and too rich to want to re-order. Since they initially gave me regular fries by accident, they gave us sweet potato fries for free. The regular fries were just ok, but the sweet potato fries were really good. –Pan Seared Salmon(Cheddar Cheese-Crab Grits, Tomato Gratin, Pine Nuts Relish, Tomato Kalamata Olives Sauce, $ 18): This is the dish to get! I tried some of my coworkers and it was delicious– the salmon was cooked really well, and cheddar grits were also really good. Highly recommended! The salmon dish was delicious, and I would come back to get that again, or try one of their other burgers. Service was a little on the slower side, but not too bad. Parking can be tough during the lunch rush, but there are street parking spots available as well as lots.

This restaurant has been on my bookmark list for some time. I finally got to try it last night and it did not disappoint. This place was really happening on a Friday night. The vibe is casual and fun. The food was fantastic! We started off with two of the International Flights. It was a good mix of big reds. For an appetizer we got the Cuban Ceviche special. It was a mix of halibut, scallops, shrimp, veggies, potato chips and it came with a flute of coconut water. There were nice large pieces of seafood and the coconut water was divine. For entrees we got the lobster risotto and scallops. The risotto dish was a side of risotto with skewers of scallops, shrimp, salmon, and some corn. I liked that it wasn’t a huge bowl of risotto. It sounded really filling the way it was written, but the dish was well balanced with protein. The scallop dish was delicious. It came with three large scallops, a couple of prawns, and parsnip purée. A great balance of flavors. I guess the kitchen was running behind, but we did not notice. The chef and owner came out and personally delivered our meals to us and apologized for the delay. It was such great service, but we had not noticed a delay. It was a gear restaurant with great service, vibe, and food. A must try restaurant.

Came back again several times already but just ate last night there with a large party and the folks here were amazing about accommodating us! Though we had folks coming in late(from all over the country, flying and driving into town), they really made if work for our party and that’s what truly matters! Customer service is top notch. The servers were also playful and really nice, even interacting with us and joking around with us. The food is top notch; stellar. I bring so many people here just because I haven’t had a bad dish so I can safely recommend almost any of them; I had the Kobe Burgers with Foie Gras, incredibly decadent and rich and delicious! Sure they seem tiny but they will fill you up like no other, since they’re so rich and juicy with fats and oils. The fries were good but not sure if they are blown out of proportion with the delicious burgers but they weren’t the greatest fries I’ve had. I should’ve opted for the sweet potato fries(my cousin had them) as they were really tasty. Wine flights we had all around and their draft as well. I don’t usually do Hoegaarden since it’s such a generic beer now but when I order it here it’s crisp and refreshing and comes in the actual Hoegaarden cup! We had some of the apps, the calamari is definitely the best, lamb sausage was good but nothing to write home about and the grilled prawns were very very tasty. Only complaint if it can be one is that this place can cost a fortune or it can be affordable to Silicon Valley startup founders. Depends how you look at it. So before I file bankruptcy I would come back one last time but I try to only come here for special occasions or I will be out on the streets reviewing the nicest street lamp that can be used as a bathroom.

My friend, wife and I stop here for dinner as we changed our minds twice on a place. I had the turkey burger which was good and flavorful. My wife had the cask burger which was good as well. My friend had the Japanese Kobe Beef Rossini burger. It was absolutely awesome! We shared the prosciutto & arugula flatbread which was a lot to eat and tasted great!

Ahi tuna watermelon salad and the sliders for lunch last week. Quite good. It was a Sunday afternoon and it wasn’t too busy, but it was quieter! The 3 TVs were on, but THANKYOU no sound. The food is very good here. I’d recommend almost anything on the updated menu.

A bottle of Riesling from Germany is always our choice if it’s around. That’s the good thing here. They have it. The initial(un)welcome from the staff or the owner himself left us with not much love for this place. Packed when we walked in. Seem like a cool place. But we wanted to walk out as soon as we can. Adiós.

Having reservations across the street and arriving early for my birthday dinner across the street, we decided to grab a quick glass of wine. Although not dining here, The Cask menu feature American and California cuisine that is potentially complimented by their extensive wine selection. We simply had a bottle of wine. As we walked in, there was some confusion and not so friendly opening remarks. Briefly later, we remedied the situation and hopefully it was simple miscommunication. It was five of us and we sat at the bar. The bartender was more cordial and served us immediately. We ordered the Heinrich Vollmer Riesling from the Pfalz region of Germany. This is an excellent wine if you prefer a sweeter Riesling. The ambiance here is very relaxed and not at all snobbish. I really love the outside seating area, but tonight was just a tad chilly to thoroughly enjoy it. If you love wine and drink it frequently, especially out and about, you will be thrilled to know that they offer wine memberships. By becoming a member, you will receive three, high-end delicious wines at greatly discounted prices(average of 35% to 50% savings). Simply, each month, you receive one white and two red wines, which you can Pickup at the restaurant and save on shipping charges. In addition, while picking up and dinning, enjoy no corkage and one complimentary appetizer on the house. I really want to return and try their cuisine, I’ve heard their burgers a excellent, sure did look really tasty when a gazed at one at the bar.
