This is a good place for a very simple and affordable breakfast in a shabby but fairly clean little historical building with lots of train décor(think black and white a sepia train photos and old Union Pacific signage). The building is the historical train/former post office/etc building and dates back a good bit, at least as far as California history is concerned. I ordered the(cheddar) cheese omelette with fruit and potatoes and that’s exactly what I got, plain and simple. It’s food you might eat at home if you had the time to actually cook a fast breakfast on a daily basis. Nothing fancy but good. It was not very greasy nor disgusting like a diner would typically be. The omelette had too much cheese in it(even for me— I love cheese but it was like a good 4oz block) so I ended up ultimately picking it out but at least it was real cheddar cheese, not American like a lot of other affordable diners. The staff is very friendly, polite, and attentive. They’re lovely really. I couldn’t help smiling as the waitress spent her downtime between serving hanging out and joking with the cook’s son. 4 for food, 5 for service. I’m feeling generous after a nice quiet meal with nice staff so we’ll go with 5.

When I first walked into Depot Café I immediately felt a rush of nostalgia, that few restaurants seem to bring back. As a kid I always went up to Easy Street Café up in Larkspur with my parents, and it totally has the same kind of vibe as this establishment. We ended up ordering a quick breakfast, as I had to run off to work immediately after. I got the Ham and Cheese omelette, and my wife ordered some sort of french toast sandwich thing. I’m not sure how hers was, but my omelette was pretty good. Service was really great, even though some douchebag left as we got there without paying. I did not catch our waitresses name, but she was super pleasant and accommodating. She seemed to be the only waitstaff that morning, and was giving everyone plenty of attention considering. I liked it, and would like to go back for a quick breakfast in the future.

I did not have a meal there. I was asking for the possibility of parking a bicycle there for a fee during the night. The lady said it is not possible and then gave me the detailed information on CalTrain that can lend a cubicle for the purpose. She was so nice and helpful that I think she deserves some praise.

Really impressed with the cheerful and helpful demeanor of the invaluable Sepp, our hostess. She kept me refilled with coffee from beginning to end and even offered a to-go cup at the check-out. I had a spinach omlette which was tasty and was not expensive. It is at the San Carlos train station. Get off from El Camino and turn right to see the parking spaces marked for café customers. The building has been there since 1888 and is a bit of Stanford architecture. Now I have to make friends to take them to the Depot Café.

Cute little café next to the San Carlos Caltrain Station. Our waitress was super nice and kept checking on us. There was no need to track her down to refill my coffee. The food was good and prices were reasonable.

Such a great place! Took me back to my NJ diner days. Great coffee, wonderfully quirky décor, warm and welcoming owners, great staff, cozy and crowded in a fun way. Will be back whenever we are in the area!

Meh, just ok. Coffee-sub par, pancake sandwich with eggs and bacon-nothin special. Bacon was good though, not greasy. Super fast service and very nice people! Mid-level pricing. Not as cute as others say either. But did the trick. Tomorrow I’ll try the bagel shop down the street, won’t come here again.

I am all about the«local breakfast» spot, where you get the all-american basics at an affordable price. Depot Café is exactly the kind of place I love. Huge fluffy pancakes, eggs, bacon, and all the other breakfast basics done well and done cheaply. The décor is great, as the restaurant is actually in an old train station and the wall is covered in pictures of trains as well as advertisements for the old routes up to the city. The waitresses are friendly, and on a Sunday morning, the place was packed with locals. The waitresses knew the name of almost every single person that walked in to the place.

Went here for breakfast and had the«Pancake Sandwich»(not actually a sandwich). The bacon was kinda good(if you like it big & crispy), though the eggs were just OK and the pancakes tasted a bit peculiar. Overall, average at best. The servers all seemed nice. Slight annoyance: they’re not totally honest. My $ 8.95 meal should have come to $ 9.76, yet my bill showed $ 9.80. When I pointed this out, the server fixed it, but there was resistance, and her choice of words implied she was just doing some kind of one-time, special treatment favor.

Convenient spot to go for breakfast, located within the San Carlos Caltrain station. They have a good selection of omelettes as well as your other breakfast basics. This is a small restaurant, and the crowd usually consists of seniors. I usually interpret this to mean that there are a lot of locals that come here consistently and that the staff does a great job at making them feel welcome. The food isn’t anything to write home about but it’s decent, and at a low price. I’d recommend coming here if you have time to kill before catching your train.

This is a great place for breakfast. My personal favorite is their corned beef hash special(which I believe they only serve on Saturdays.) Good food, friendly service, and fair prices. You should definitely try this place.

The staff here are really nice and the environment is very cozy. However the food was a bit bland and it just felt like yet another average brunch place. I got the pancake platter which had pancakes, meat and eggs. The pancakes were fluffy but the syrup had a slightly off taste that I couldn’t identify. The bacon was plentiful but a little bit too overdone for my tastes. The eggs were a bit dry and it’s unfortunate because I really like eggs. The lady that served us was really nice though and good about refilling water.

Depot Café is in a historic building built in 1888 using the same sandstone and stonemasons that built Stanford is right beside the CaItrain Station… and is probably the oldest in San Carlos, and has oodles of atmosphere. Vintage train pictures from a bygone era everywhere. They do breakfast & lunch… and they do it superbly. Simple fare at VERY reasonable places. Check the Special Board as well. Family Run & the Service is Genuinely Warm, Friendly & Fast. Put this on the must do list in San Carlos.

What’s not to love about eating in a very old train station building? You can hear the caltrain whizzing by as you eat your meal. We sat in a corner looking out a window. The place is covered with tons of train pictures on the walls. Really nice staff. You can’t go wrong here. I’m happy that my fiancée took me here as a surprise for breakfast. Since the meals are so large, we split an omelet and the toast, eggs w/hashbrowns meal. Filled us up.

Seen this place driving by but today was a first for nour n m I ntjly dad’s breakfast. It was great. We arrived at 8 and beat the crowd I’ve read of on Unilocal. Ordered the corn beef hash wihich is their Satur special. It was pretty good. Really enioyed the fruit that accompanied it. Service was awesome and we never felt rushed. Even after we were done and stayed awhile to chat(the crowd had yet to arrived) the ladies kept coming back to refill our coffee. Definitely will return.

The Depot Café is pure cuteness and represents the word quaint to the max. Having attended an event somewhat close we were on the look out for a nice place to fill up. We were hungry! Unilocal is truly a saving grace everyday for whatever you want to find and decide on. This restaurant sits right smack where you see trains, buses and people pulling/pushing their suitcases. Although once you’re inside it seem that the locals hang out here. Regulars who knew each other and are very familiar with the menu and the staff. Pictures of all kinds of trains from all over the world adorned the walls. Its pretty interesting. The is a historic building. Parking is available at $ 5 all day. We chose to park across the street and walked. Adam and I both ordered the Corned Beef hash. This is only available on weekends. Its home made and is very tasty. With a side of fruits. Ill get this again. Fast service. Awesome staff.
