Fyi, I just stopped by… this location is now permanently closed effective December 26, 2015.

This is the last time I’m getting anything from this bakery. I called to see if they have a cake I wanted & was told they have a lot so for me to just go there. I wanted a bigger cake but they don’t have it so I settle for a smaller one. I asked to please put Happy Birthday but the lady said they don’t write it on the round cake and they are giving me a small paper flag to put it on. After insisting what I wanted the older lady finally told the salesperson to do what I requested since it’s «Thanksgivings». It’s like she’s doing me a big favor!

Me and my family wanted somethjng sweet so we saw red ribbon. We went inside it was dead not crowded around 8 something at night. The employees look unhappy their didn’t greet us or ask if we needed help. It’s like smile or ask if we needed help… At least my sister was familiar with the Philippine pastries so at least she explain to us which is which that was helpful. I don’t know about coming here customer service not great at all.

I bought a chicken empanada at Red Ribbon this morning, the empanada was good. The cashier wasn’t she took my money, then just laid my money on the counter. POORCUSTOMERSERVICE!

I’ve made my way to this spot a few times only to pick up pasteries. Today, I went in for halo halo and found the dominating flavor came from their mango whip. It really had beans and nothing more than that. No ube. No macapuno. No langka. No ice cream. To me, it lacked all the yummy goodness that comprises of a delicious halo halo. Would I recommend this place for halo halo? Nope. Save your money. Go somewhere else.

Stopped by yesterday to buy their rocky road round cake for a birthday. The guy at the register said they no longer write dedication on their round cakes because they get complaints from customers that the writings are smeared. Well what about complaints for NOT making an effort and NOT training the staff to do the job? I asked then the guy if he could give me a happy birthday note that I could stick on the cake and said they ran out… Gah! Total turn off!

Got here 2 – 3 minutes before they closed, and said the couldn’t take me because the register is closed. I know their food is amazing.

I got in here enthusiastic about all the types and varieties of cheap bake items. But I was vastly disappointed at the quality of the baked goods. I bought the taro cake and a pound cake only to find both way too dry and full of food coloring. They are both bland. Cheap pricing can only go so far, quality is the utmost importance.

Their food MIGHT be good but I’m giving them a 5 star thumbs down. My co-workers picked a cake from Red Ribbon’s website… when I went to order the cake, found out the flavor has been discontinued for a while! Then I spoke with the store manager, Feda Lacap. She gave me her business card & that I can call early Monday morning and talk to her to order a ‘replacement’ cake flavor. Called the freakin’ line for over a hour(busy, busy, busy). When I finally got through and asked to speak with Feda, they told me she was off today! What the heck? What a freakin’ liar! No cake order placed. Going to Paris Baguette instead!

First let me start this review by saying Red Ribbon, and their employees, are another surprising place that request no pictures to be taken once you’re inside the doors. I don’t know what the they are trying to hide in here. Perhaps some secret ingredient in the sponge cake they don’t want the public to know about? In any case this is my first visit to Red Ribbon. The location I visited was in San Bruno right on the edge of South San Francisco. across the way from Red Lobster. The corner location is easy to spot when you drive into the strip mall. Once inside you’ll find the place is neat and clean. As for those smiling employees, well they definitely have a set of rules they want you to follow in order to be allowed to be a customer. As for the items in the bakeshop you’ll find that it is 90 percent sponge cake in all its glory and in its multiple forms. Something I didn’t get to try on this visit because it is not available in a slice, is the Ube roll. Think of purple ube baked into a sponge bread, layered with cream filling and rolled up. Definitely looked delicious. If I come back here I might try it. Most of the prices are for the single slice items coming pre-packaged for either one dollar, or 1 dollar and 50 cents. When checking out I found that I was able to charge even the $ 1.50 amount to a card without incurring any extra fees. So if you want to try Red Ribbon, you’ll find it easy to do so. Barring the really strange rule which is steadfastly enforced of no pictures, I found the visit to red ribbon to be passable. I’m not sure I like sponge bread enough to go back and eat the amount that might be in the shop. But it’s probably worth at least one more visit. After I go on my second visit I might bump my review from two stars up to 3 stars. But that first visit and that rule being thrown out there on the floor like that especially with so many windows really left a bad taste in my mouth.

Very disappointing. I called and ordered 6 chicken empanadas. I told the sales lady that I will be paying by credit card in case they ran out when I get there. The lady placed me on hold, when she returned she told me that they do not accept payment(credit card) by phone. I told her just last week I went to the store and wanted to buy empanadas. The sales lady told me that the empanadas were all bought by a customer who paid by credit card. The lady I was talking too told me that their manager always changes the rules I told her if I can speak to her manager and she told me that the manager is gone for the day. I told the lady that they are no longer in the Philippines and they are conducting business in USA. No wonder most of the Filipino businesses fails.

This place is not bad like what others say it is. I always get greeted, hi and thank you’s. I come here for their mamon and cakes. Pretty good I think.

I was going back to MI and needed to drop by Red Ribbon for some goodies to take back. This store had all of the pastries that I wanted, but they did not have any more empanadas. It seemed a bit early(not even 7pm) for them to not have any more empanadas. Given that these are such popular items, they really should have them all day, until they close! Very disappointing. I also noticed that they do not sell as many cake slices as the one in Vegas.

Awww, Red Ribbon! You failed me! I normally have a great experience and the food is delicious, but this time I was so disappointed. You guys really messed up my mom’s bday cake and didn’t even attempt to fix it. Instead, you packed it up and hoped that I wouldn’t check the cake before leaving, which is what I did. So, I will take ownership of not checking your work. But c’mon! Have some pride in your work. Don’t let crappy work leave your shop! I’m speaking in regards to the chocolate mocha cake I asked to have personalized with a «happy birthday» message. The writing was completely illegible. It looked like pink squiggles on top of the cake(I uploaded the photo to your business so you can see). **** I realized I didn’t write anything nice as I was upset at the time with the cake. You will see that the stars are still high. That’s because despite that one bad experience, all my other experiences were great and the food is always delicious!

I really wanted to give this place more stars — at least 4 but hubby picked up an ube mammon cake for me — it looked super delicious but when i tasted it, it was super dry — almost like sandpaper. Ugh. — that was a two star experience. BUT I have gotten yummy ube super cake before and that was a huge hit. — 4 star experience so i have averaged it out to 3 stars. it’s a hit and miss experience — i guess you have to know what is fresh and/or what to order.

I guess I can agree with the overall ratings here. I don’t ever buy dinner here, only desserts, breads, and halo halo. Been here many times ordering cakes for various birthday and holiday celebrations. Sometimes the cakes taste super fresh, other times they taste a week old. Not sure where the cakes come from, I doubt they make it on site. They have a lineup of refrigerated cakes ready to sell, kind of like Safeway or Lucky. To their credit, when fresh, the Mango and Ube cakes are some of my favorites. And the halo halo is pretty good too. Try it out, press your luck. On that note, I’m sure their cakes will always be better than the ones offered at Lucky. Also the workers are super nice — Filipinos are known for their warm hospitality. I’m one of them. Lol! See ya!

I usually enjoy their cakes so I decided to purchase a birthday cake for my coworker. From the outside, the cake looked delicious! But then the birthday girl tried to cut into the cake and found it difficult. I figured that she was probably cutting into a piece of chocolate or something… She pulled out the first slice and the bottom fell apart, the layers looked separated and there were a lot of holes. It didn’t get better with each slice she cut, as each piece started to fall apart. Not sure if I’ll go back to the San Bruno store. Guess I should have gone to Daly City, where I normally purchase my cakes… (Went to San Bruno because it was closer to work.)

I had a horrible experience here. It involved not just the food, but the service as well. I felt very rushed when making a selection of what to buy. The lady kept asking, «you ready»?, «you ready»? at least three times. I will tell you when I’m ready when I am. It is not like there was anyone else in the store or we were holding up a line. Instead, she should have asked, do you have any questions? Or, I would suggest this. We decided to get a banana bread loaf, a mango cake, and an empanada. She said there were no empanadas. When we asked her if she was going to make any more, she said that she would have to make a batch of 6. So, in my head I am thinking, go ahead then make 6. I just want one. You should make the customer happy, am i right? As she was wrapping the cake up, we asked if we could get candles for the cake, since they were right by the register. She was mighty hesitant. She gave a slight huff and puff, and finally said, okay. Damn, talk about cheap. Bad service. Maybe I went on a bad night. Will have to come again and try their empanada so they can maybe redeem themselves.

Red Ribbon in the Philippines is fantastic and this was really my first time going to a location here in the States… overall it was good. They have a limited selection of items and many items you would find in the Philippines are not available here. I was here for the following items: Ube Mamon — This is a nice sponge/chiffon cake with ube flavoring… this was pretty good, although not as great as the version in the Philippines. It wasn’t as moist, although the flavor was very close. Butter Mamon — This was very good — a rich, and buttery chiffon/sponge cake. This one was perfectly moist and exactly what I wanted from Red Ribbon. This place is fine if you’re in the area, but not really a destination.

Cheap filipino food. This place isn’t bad consider that they taste better than Jolibee, but cheaper. I had the Palobok and arascaldo(i think thats how you spell it). I personally do not like thin noodle palobok, but the sauce is good. Once you put lemon on any filipino food it makes it taste that much better. Red Ribbon are more known for their baked goods. All of the filipino cakes are bought here. I personally like the empanadas. Or anything that has ube is naturally pretty good.
