Great place to workout. Everyone is friendly and nice. No one thinks there better then everyone. Everyone just works out. Everyone is starting somewhere, where all on differnt levels and we dont judge each other. Thats what I like most about the people and gym here. You can swim here, rock climb and run the track outside. Purified water machines and free lockers to store your belongins. Very clean gym. Nice warm touls for workouts and showers.

I am not an alumni, but my husband is and we live close by. The prices cannot be beat for the quality and cleanliness. They have plenty of equipment and personal training at a ridiculously affordable price(Emily is the best!). My only complaints are the blasting air conditioning(I try to avoid the invasive vents, anytime I am positioned underneath one I leave with a sore throat) and the hours. I really wish they opened a little earlier so I had time to work out more before work.

This place has been like a second home to me all summer. I love the fitness classes that they offer! And the equipment here is great. Very clean.

The Rec Center has me spoiled. Majority of the cardio equipment has individual TVs, large number of cardio options, good deal of machine weights and free weights, heated pool, clean locker rooms. It is a great place to work out.

I haven’t found a nicer gym in the area,(although I heard great things about the Drayson center but their hours don’t work for me.) The hours are good,(not 24 hours good but good), the place is clean, they give you towels and even offer very reasonable personal training rates,(I’ve lost more than 50 lbs. with the coaching of Kathryn whose background knowledge and jedi skills have kicked my fitness to the next level.) I have had 24 hour and LA Fitness memberships and have this to say … LA Fitness has a better pool and jacuzzi set up but CSUSB has an outside pool that’s nice. No jacuzzi though. :(In terms of cleanliness, affordability and overall appearance, CSUSB is the best gym in the area.

This place is great. I can walk to the Rec center from where I live. The sauna is really nice, and there are always enough machines open to use!

I recommend it, even if you’re not an alumni or student. It’s clean and has what you’ll need. Classes offered works for most people, although, I usually hit the weights and run thru the mountain trails, I have done the yoga classes and I’d go back if I had more time. I’d only rate it higher if it were 24hrs so I could go at 2am but I understand that that is unreasonable on my part due to funding and student employees’schedules. POSITIVES It’s close, if you live in the area, since there’s no other decent gym that can compare. The attendants are friendly. Not expensive if you’re not affiliated. People are cooperative if you ask for a spot. Good place to find a workout partner if your looking for one. Great activities at reasonable prices. NEGS My only beef with the gym set up is that all the bench presses need to be pulled away from the windows bcs it’s impossible to replace or remove the 45lbs plates w/o struggling. Some attendants should stay on the floor supervising in order to ensure that all weights are returned and workout stations are broken down. Sometimes there are people that have absolutely NO clue what they are doing so some should ask for some initial workout instruction assistance w/o feeling embarrassed. But really, these are minor gigs bcs I keep high standards when it comes to gym etiquete.
