Zootennial Restaurant

They used to have a expanded menu with what i considered to be one of the best pizzas in SA, the Three little pigs pizza. I went to the zoo last Friday specifically to get the pizza. But arrived to find out they had changed to a very basic menu. Cheese pizza, peperoni pizza, sausage pizza. Those were the only options, all the Gourmet pizzas were gone.

I was honestly looking forward to eating here due to the stellar reviews, however if you’re looking for a place to eat because you’re really just in the park to check out other areas, note this: THE RESTAURANT IS IN THE ZOO (You’ll have to pay admission to get in). Just a heads up.

Good burgers and prices weren’t horrible for being inside the zoo. I got the regular cheeseburger and my husband got the grilled chicken sandwich. I liked the burger very much and the veggies were fresh. The order of fries are huge! Enough for family to share. My daughter got the kids meal which came with fries and a drink. The restaurant has a beautiful 180* view of the zoo outside and the carousel. Bathrooms are clean and facility is new. Highly recommend for lunch for a day at the zoo.

Before you enter be prepared to spend, but of course you should already be aware of that since you’re eating inside the zoo! We were pleasantly surprise with the zoo restaurant. My oldest son had the kids cheeseburger and fries meal with a fruit drink, younger son had the kids cheese pizza. The burger was pretty good while the pizza was pretty standard and nothing special. My parents both had a regular cheese burger and I had a hotdog with bacon, avocado, salsa, and mayo. The hotdog was delicious! Not very big though, expected more for what I paid ($ 4.50). My parents hamburgers were huge, so you could probably split one with someone if you wanted to save cash. The fries were expensive! $ 5.50, but they can seriously feed 4 people. You can save money by only ordering one basket of fries. Also, if you just order yourself a kids meal it will very likely fill you up and most of them include fries, so save money that way if you can! It was nice to get out of the heat and enjoy this new restaurant.

We were skeptical about eating in the zoo assuming things would be over-​priced for what you get. At first we thought that was exactly the case until our food came. OWO! You get huge portions and the food was really good! Definitely get your money’s worth here, and THE place to go when eating at the zoo!
