Tourist trap with bad food. There are many other places to eat on the river walk. Not worth the money or time.

Should have checked the star rating before coming in. Couldn’t tell if I was eating chicken or catfish, no flavor & rubbery.

Staff was friendly and pretty on point, despite our party being in excess of 20 people. The beer selection was decent(and all Texan, something I’m always looking for when traveling) food was delicious(though I only personally liked a portion of it, it wasn’t bad food mind you, just ordered a «sampler» and ended up realizing some of it wasn’t for me). Oh, and the beer I selected was delicious!

Eek! What a bust. My friend and I are out of towners and were long for some tasty apps. First they did not serve Coke. The waitress kept talkin to other staff while taking our drink order. She began to walk away as I was saying we were ready to order food so she made a big sigh about it. Our boneless chicken wings were gristly and and the sauce looked like it was a few days old. Our chips and salsa were fine but served in a teeny tiny dish that was enough for half the chips. To top it off the celery and carrots were al shriveled and gross that were served with the chicken. We were really disappointed in our visit and wishes we chose somewhere else to experience the boardwalk. I’m giving one star for the view beside the water.

I looove the chips and salsa, but that is it. I ordered a cheese enchilada plate and my beans were hard because they were not fully cooked. I could not cut my enchilada because it was so hard, and the rice was very small like cous cous and was also very dry and hard and was like they just scraped it off the bottom of a pan! And the last time I got salsa it had a huge meat chunk in it! It makes your mind start wondering how it got in there or if they took it from someone else’s table. My sister and I both had extreme nausea after eating there and she actually threw up. Service was not that great. Out waiter did his job but not friendly whatsoever.

Out of all the places in the river walk, this is what we chose… it was okay, I got chicken cause I didn’t trust the food. it came with rice and steamed veggies, it was okay. my buddy got some sort of enchilada with beans, he said it tasted okay. But an hour later he said he regretted picking that place(if you know what I mean). it was okay, wouldn’t go back

Best chicken fajita I’ve ever had. It is sooooo tender. The service was great! We got our food very quickly.

First time here for dinner. I had the cheeseburger and everyone else at the table had the chicken fried steak. The burger was good, it just fell apart on me with all the extras inside the burger. My friends all finished their chicken fried steaks and said they were amazing. Will be coming back but not ordering the cheeseburger again. The margaritas were really good too!

Worst restaurant experience while in Texas. My wife and I went to this restaurant in hopes of a pleasant meal downtown, only to have any chance of that ruined by my wife nearly choking on a full toothpick in her flauta! It was placed lengthwise in the tortilla before it was folded and fried. That’s right, the toothpick was placed completely inside the flauta, making it implausible that the pick held the damn thing together in the fryer and was simply«left in». It honestly seemed deliberate or negligent of the restaurant staff. When I brought this matter to the attention of the manager, he discredited our account of the situation and even worse, gave his staff the benefit of the doubt, like somehow my wife and I did something wrong! It is rare indeed when a restaurant manager is so devoid of basic business sense. I mean, the only thing he managed to do here was escalate the situation by blowing off a serious customer complaint. Despite the situation, my wife and I didn’t make a scene and left, paying only for my meal after her meal was comped. But this is not the end of the story. We will be writing a letter to corporate about this, and possibly more. The restaurant manager should wake up and realize that a sharp, foreign object in any customer’s food presents a serious restaurant liability, and could result in a possible lawsuit not ending well for the restaurant. People have filed and won lawsuits over much less… Anyway, that’s my bad experience, so don’t let it become yours, people. The Republic of Texas is a terrible restaurant with questionable tomfoolery or outright neglect in the kitchen, apathetical management, bad customer service, and a slew of other horrible reviews. If I could give a non-positive rating(e.g. less than or equal to 0 stars) I absolutely would. The harshest customer feedback should be reserved for a crappy restaurant like this, and even then, it’s not harsh enough.

We went there on a holiday weekend and the service was terrible and the food was way over cooked. I asked for medium burger and got well done. The appetizer was brought after the main food came. The server even tried to charge me for it after I told him I didn’t want it. Will never go back.

Awesome, fun dance place for a Friday night. Great place to come drink, hang out and dance. Staff is very friendly, professional and fun. They check id’s so have it on you. We sat on a table right next to the dance floor and lots of people were having a good time. I loved their choice of music, just a blend of old 80’s, R&B from the 90’s, country and lively Mexican rhythms. The tab was cheap. We had 2 glasses of red, a miller light, mango daiquiri, and another beer in the bottle, total was about $ 50. Most people dressed casually but some were well dressed in suits and dresses. There were a lot of couples, however, I did see some parties of 3 or 4 but no more than that. Also, I wouldn’t recommend bringing your purse because the music will make you want to dance and leave your belongings unattended. We were permitted to go outside and smoke with our drinks so that was a plus!

It was our first time ever in San Antonio. Did the boat tour of the river walk then came here. View was great but the river walk is just beautiful that any seat anywhere would’ve been a great view. Had the Fiesta Enchilada, it was ok. The good review is definitely because of the staff. Our server Julio was very entertaining. Talked about the city and points of interests which we did appreciate since we just got there. Definitely coming back if we’re ever in town.

Good view of the river walk. Check. Good, fresh food. Check. Friendly, helpful staff. Check It was our fist time dining here but will definitely not be the last. Top shelf margate it was aaaaammaaazing. Alamo bites were great, ask for the sauce on the side though.

The only restaurant without a wait … For a reason! Though I get it… Still overpriced for riverwalk location… At least hire people that give a damn… Ex. I waited 15 minutes for a water after being seated. And if your waitress is named Tiffany … Just get up and walk away go wait in line 23 steps away. You can thank me later.

Have to give it 5 stars! It’s the reason I come to the riverwalk!!! Love the huge fishbowl margaritas. Love the staff and have absolutely no complaints. They took care of us. Can’t wait to come back.

Went for breakfast after we saw people along the river eating breakfast. Sat down at 10:55 and were then told after taking our drink orders that they stop serving breakfast at 11:00. Stayed and ordered lunch. While everyone else around is got their orders we were about to walk out when our food arrived. Mediocre at best! I would have rather of gone to chilis! This is a tourist trap with over inflated prices! Never again…

We have been coming to San Antonio for over 20 years and always had breakfast at the Original restaurant. We were really disappointed in their food this trip so we tried The Republic of Texas. Much better food. I had juevos rancheros which was pretty good. My wife had Texas Croisant which looked real good. It must have been because she ate it all.

Come for the scenery(If seated next to the river) and beverages, not for the food. The service was standard and our server was courteous and attentive. Especially toward the request of to «keep the Arnold Palmers coming», which was absolutely refreshing and a perfect mix. The food was less than stellar. I had the Akaushi Burger, which was supposed to be the star of the burgers. It was more like the clown of the menu. When I ordered I was told it would come medium, which is how I like my burgers. The burger came and it was well over cooked, which made it dry and unappetizing. To add more insult to injury there was little to no seasoning. Just a badly prepared burger. Come for the Arnold Palmer and the vibe, but avoid the burgers.

I wish Unilocal wasn’t down when we chose to eat here, otherwise I would’ve kept walking. I ordered a blue steak. When I had to explain what blue was I knew I was in the wrong place. Asked for no pepper on it. It came out broiled, or steamed or boiled or microwaved or something. It was the most revolting piece of meat I’ve ever tasted. I sent it back — and the server came back and asked me if I wanted another one on the grill — the chef didn’t want to grill it in case it got pepper on it. I should change that — it was clearly just a cook, not a properly trained chef that warmed up that steak. At this point I didn’t want to try something else here. The only saving grace is the dish was taken off my bill — but still not the point when I was craving steak and left starving. Fun Fact — there’s plenty of other restaurants on the riverwalk so you can skip this heap of cr@p!
