+1 Star for Beer Selection(if they’re open for business) +1 Star for Location(…again, if they’re open for business) The only thing Luxurious about this establishment are it’s prices. Based on the level of service provided and overall value, they should seriously consider changing their name Mediocre — if for no other reason than to level set customer expectations. Expect to pay $ 16 dollars for a burger + fries… and again, only if they choose to open for business on that particular day/night, which based on my own experiences seems to be chosen at random — perhaps by roll of dice or lunar phases? When the Luxury inevitably closes, the only tear that will be shed is over this business’ inability to live up to it’s potential. Sadly, despite having all of the advantages of prime location and lack of competition, they are all but destine to fail because of inconsistent days & hours of operation, a limited menu, and general apathy from the staff.

Horrible service. Waited an hour and a half for 2 hotdogs and a hamburger. Sitting here right now still waiting. Hardly anyone here and I can see why. Some of our family went across the street to Rosella got their food, ate and came back and we’re still waiting. It is a shame that we have to even give it one star to post.

MENU: Let me start by saying that anyplace that keeps Angry Orchard on tap automatically makes me feel warm and fuzzy.(It could be the cider, but let’s not pull at that thread.) There is a respectable offering on the drink menu. The food menu, however, made me feel like they’re trying a little too hard with such a limited selection. Since this was an «after work drink with a friend» thing, I settled on the Crack Fries, as it was just about the only appetizer-type item on the food menu. Crack Fries: «Crack,» as in cracked pepper. They were good. It seemed like the fryer grease was fresh and hot, as there wasn’t the burnt or overcooked taste and feel that some places turn out with their fries. I don’t know what else to say. They were fries with(sea, I’m assuming) salt and cracked pepper. Location: It’s along the Riverwalk, if you’re starting from the Pearl, it’s just past the museum, before the VFW. Overall: When we stepped off of the Riverwalk for a drink, the intention was to pay attention to each other and our conversation. I feel the food menu choices were like some stranger’s obnoxious child, demanding my attention. It’s not someplace I’ll think of going if I’m hungry for a meal.

Tico sandwich is killer. Really nothing bad on the menu. Had the crispy chicken sandwich, the crack fries and war sauce, and the tico sandwich. All amazing. Wash it all down with a hoppy malt beverage and you are set.

Very friendly staff. Cool open air atmosphere, large beer /wine list. I had the crispy chicken with with slaw. Aside from the fact it was nearly impossible to eat as a sandwich it was very, very good. Pounded out chicken breast, very tender, with kick-a@$ breading. The fries are huge and I wish they would have let me know, felt guilty throwing them away. They are also called crack fries for a reason. Do it with the over easy eggs(perfectly fried). Do it.

4 stars for: the feel and set up of the place; the crack fries. I’m seriously addicted after going once; the chipotle sauce that comes with the fries; the beer selection. The sandwiches we had weren’t too special. Had the bahn mi and the tico. Not a huge fan of plantain and there was a whole one inside

Wow. Had I written this review when they had first opened, it would be glowing… but, more recently I had lunch there and ordered the burger. It came with 2 patties and some jack cheese. Nothing else. I felt like I was in a middle school cafeteria. The burger meat seemed like it was boiled. It was also low quality and flavorless. $ 10. No sides. My friend ordered the salad with hearts of palm, avocado and corn. She used to love it, but this time it was all corn. Very little else. The Lux has changed folks. On another note, the fries are still great.

I don’t get it. Cool patio, decent beer selection, food sounds interesting, but it was difficult to decide if I wanted to order anything– and the food I did get was disappointing. Salads sounded boring, sandwiches seemed a bit better. The beef cheek was bland and extremely greasy. I liked the picked onions but they didn’t do enough to cut through the grease, and I could not tell that the sriracha aioli was used. If you’re going to have a limited menu, each item should be great. Service was quick despite the sign warning a 20-minute average wait time. I’d come here for a drink on the patio with friends, but not so much for food.

Four stars for the crispy chicken sandwich. The chicken was lightly fried and not too heavy. The crunch, cold veggies that adorned it helped lighten it up also. Although I saw lots of young families with children, the 30 minute wait for a single sandwich was a little TOO long for my 1 year old to tolerate. :( REALLY loved the free water with lemon and simple syrup garnish= Free lemonade.

Love this place. So unique, with such a cool, laid back San Antonio vibe. Only reasons I’m not giving it five stars — we haven’t tried the food yet and they close so much earlier than I would have guessed! Great beer selection and an amazing atmosphere! All outdoors, with lights, and tenting, and a view of the River. Such a fun place to hang out with friends(esp. now that’s it not a million degrees outside)! I’ll be back!

Yummo! I love this place. It’s an outdoor diner along the Museum North Project of the River Walk. The whole place is made out of shipping containers, and does some amazing food. Chef Andrew Weissman knows what he’s doing. I usually go for whatever sandwiches he’s dishing up, and the fries. They’re the best fries I’ve had. You have to get the toppings– it’s a necessity. They have a great beer and wine selection, usually with one on a fire sale, which makes for some cheap suds! The place is clean, and the service is friendly. I love how they give you a giant animal or dinosaur to take to your table to play with so they know where to bring the food out. They offer bocci ball in the back! Check it out. They’re dog friendly as well, with bowls out for Fido. The restrooms are clean, and off to the side. Overall, it’s amazing food, and the best fries in town. You gotta check this place out.

GETTHEFRIES. I read reviews for The Luxury before we went for lunch one day, and I kept seeing people raving about the fries. They were right! Crack fries! In addition to the fries, we got the crispy chicken sandwich and the pulled pork sandwich, both of which were really good. Only problem was they were so large they were difficult to eat! But delicious! This place is completely outdoors, and can get very hot in the summer. The employees are all super friendly and nice. Very enjoyable place!

I’m upping my previous rating, as those Crack Fries deserve a star. We ordered them with two eggs on top, and I created a quick sriracha ketchup to use as a dipping sauce. So yummy! The heavy dose of black pepper on top was fantastic, and the serving was huge(as it should be for $ 5). The eggs were beautifully cooked but without seasoning. The fries alone have plenty of salt and pepper, however, so it works itself out. The beer was on point, too. They had a New Braunfels beer on tap called the Weizenbock which was outrageous. The only bad part was that we went in the middle of the afternoon, and the thin plastic cup it came in didn’t help to insulate the cold beer. Totally worth the trip for the fries; they were everything I wanted them to be and more.

I came here to try the fried chicken sandwich which I’ve heard rave reviews about. However the only chicken item they had was the crispy chicken sandwich. I was hoping this sandwich would be just as good but I was very disappointed. It was essentially three pieces of frozen chicken tenders thrown on to a sandwich with coleslaw on top for 10 dollars. There was nothing particularly good about it. If I wanted a chicken sandwich of that quality I would’ve just gone to Raising Canes. Maybe their other sandwiches are better but I have to say the crispy chicken one was very underwhelming.

Friendships, family ties, the companionship of little children, an autumn forest flung in prodigality against a deep blue sky, the intricate design and haunting fragrance of a flower, the counterpoint of a Bach fugue or the melodic line of a Beethoven sonata, the fluted note of bird song, the glowing glory of a sunset: the world is aflame with things of eternal moment. –E. Margaret Clarkson I would add that this is a nice place to eat by the riverside. Unique location.

This place is wonderful! I went here two days in a row last week. The«crack fries» are aptly named. The pork shoulder sandwich is also amazing. The beer is a little steep, it would be magical if I could BYOB. I’m assuming you can’t, though I never asked. Its less than a mile walk from the Pearl, which makes for a great weekend on the quieter side of the river walk. The also have water for puppies, which is wonderful. We like this place and will be back.

Let’s play the Stars game with The Luxury: Atmosphere — 5 Stars — Totally open air, all outdoor seating in the paradise-like weather of San Antonio, Texas. Well, except for about 2 ½ months in the middle of Winter when it’s regularly too cold to sit outside. And of course the couple of months in the middle of Summer when it’s way, way too hot. But other than that, it’s top notch. Parking — 3 Stars — The Luxury doesn’t have a parking lot, you have to find a spot on the street. It’s usually not a problem if you come early and beat the rush. But I suppose you might not always be able to make it early, so it could be a problem. Weeping Tiger Salad — I was planning to give this salad 5 Stars, but they took it off the menu, so I suppose this means I have to award zero stars. But Unilocal won’t let me give less than one. I’m so confused. Crack Fries — Can I give more than 5 Stars? — These are seriously some of the most incredible, delicious, flavorful, borderline spectacular fresh cut fries you’ve ever had in your life. I mean it! And for a little extra you can have chipotle aioli, sriracha aioli, or war sauce(the war sauce is strange tasting, I wouldn’t choose this one if I were you. But I’m not you, so go ahead if you want to), or they’ll even drop a couple eggs on top. And for $ 4, it’s enough fries for probably 3 or 4 people, so it’s a great value. Seriously, you could come here just for the fries and it would be well worth the drive downtown. The Mexican Dog — It was really good, but oops, they don’t serve it any more. Or maybe they just renamed it the Griddle Dog. Who knows? So I guess that means Zero Stars again. Or, based on the Unilocal rules, it’s 1 Star. Unless they only renamed it, and in that case, 4 Stars. Whatever. Crispy Chicken Sandwich — 4 Stars — It’s good. Breaded chicken strips with cole slaw, ranch dressing and jalapenos. Well, it used to come with jalapenos, but the menu doesn’t say jalapenos any more. So I don’t know if it has jalapenos or not — I realize this isn’t helping you out. But regardless, it’s very tasty. Probably too much bread on the sandwich for me, but you can always tear off some of the bread and throw it away, so it’s fixable. Smoked Pork Shoulder Sandwich — 3 Stars — Lots of meat, but it’s a little plain. Just no pizzazz. That’s what this sandwich needs — a sauce, some condiments, anything to give it some pizzazz, because it doesn’t have any. Lux Burger — Is there an Epic Fail rating? I don’t think so, so I’ll have to give it 1 Star. It comes with two hamburger patties that are the very same type of frozen hamburger patties you can buy in a bag or box at the grocery store. Both patties were overcooked and very dry. The burger comes with chipotle mayo(is this the same thing as the chipotle aioli they serve with the fries? I say yes) and cheese, but no other condiments. Do you see a pattern here? The burger was a very disappointing experience. I realize we’ve never met, but trust me, I know my hamburgers and this one is not very good. I wouldn’t order it. I don’t have a calculator on me at the moment, but carry the one and divide by six… I’d say this averages to a rating of 3 Stars. Go for the atmosphere, definitely order some fries and maybe a Crispy Chicken Sandwich, enjoy the quirky plastic animals they use to track the orders, and thank me later that you didn’t waste your money on the burger. You’re welcome.

Hipster sightings on the evening I visited were at a minimum – thank goodness! This made possible the feeling that we were in a movie. One of those movies where the perfect family is having a perfect meal; laughing and loving; twinkly white lights strung all around, you think to yourself«these people don’t have one gosh darned care in the world.». Yeah, well forget about all that. Damn the movies. But The Luxury is super fun with a relaxed atmosphere that really can’t be matched by many other places I’ve ever been. Come here after your Weekend Warrior-ing in your most crummy clothes and you’ll feel no different than the group of bachelorette party-ers sitting next to you wearing absurdly expensive shoes. Be prepared for a possibly long wait. Be prepared to access your deepest, innermost ninja skills to try to find a table for your group. Offer to buy someone’s dinner and/or beer so they can go early to get in: 1. food line, and, 2. beer/drinks line(and, 3. find a table). Don’t be confused by the various large, plastic dinosaur toys you see. These are the«number» indicators so you get your order. Like us, you might witness one of the waitstaff causing a toddler an epic crying fit when she tries to take dinosaur away after delivering food to table. The food menu is short and they run out of some things. They also change the sandwiches/burgers up on a regular basis – so no worries about having to have the same stuff during repeat visits. The portions are large. Everything is delicious, fresh, and done well. Be sure to order(they’re not free) the sauces that go with the fries. AND — get dessert at the same time as your main order because I promise you’re not going to want to wait in line again. Regarding adult beverages – amazing tap beer selection. They do pint and pitchers – so it’s really easy to keep a large group well hydrated. Best for big groups and families with younger kids. I wouldn’t recommend for a first or second date as you’re doing to have to spend A LOT of time with your date waiting in line.

The food is an OK and the setting is a wow so this averages out into an I’m a fan. The food is good and the prices for the most part is fair. The location across the river from SAMA on the museum reach of the Riverwalk is perfect. A nice choice of beers and wines. Overall a nice place to hangout with friends and relax and talk over food and adult beverages. The bocce ball is a very nice setup– as well. I do recommend this place when you need to just relax and unwind from life’s stress :-)
