Recently purchased a beautiful framed oil painting(El Charro) at a very reasonable price! I just wish I’d gotten some information on the artist.

Located in the La Villita area of downtown San Antonio, Texas, the Starving Artist Art Gallery has original, handmade works of art by approximately 30 local artists. All of the artists were selected from the annual Starving Artist Art Show held the first weekend of April each year. There are many unique items(pottery, paintings, photography, jewelry, etc.) for sale in the Gallery at reasonable prices. The profits from the Gallery are used to help the food program provided by The Little Church to help the less fortunate of San Antonio. I highly recommend this art gallery.

Located in a historic, tourist and culturally rich area of downtown San Antonio, The art aglleries of La Villita are encouraged to be diverse, and fresh. The Starving Artist Art Gallery is run with the intentions of helping local artists and taking the gallery proceeds to feed families. The gallery has somewhat limited abilities because of their mission, they do not accept credit cards, are not open after 6 pm, and are closed on Sunday. They strive very hard to serve evryone who walks in their door.

Starving Artist Art Gallery is an art gallery located in La Villita, a historical place now composed of shops selling art, crafts, and souvenirs. This art gallery is made up of a conglomerate of local San Antonio artists. Media ranges from glass to oils to watercolor. There is also a good selection of locally made jewelry. This art gallery is unique in that part of the proceeds are donated by the artists to the Little Church of La Villita. Part of these funds are then also used to help the poor. Prices are very reasonable. Quality of the artwork is ranging, and there is a lot of different types of artwork found in this gallery. It’s worth a stop.
