I finally found my go to spot for some Filipino comfort food in San Antonio, TX
I got the Kare-​Kare and Halo-​Halo… Masarap (delicious) !
And before I left. I got some Ube ice cream and Pan de Sal bread so I can make me ice cream sandwiches
It felt like my family was cooking for me

Outstanding, I’m on my way there again. Poncit and lumpia are soooo good. I’m picky when it comes to that and it was Damm good.

My daughter and I love eating at this restaurant. They’re closeby to where we live. Good food. Prices are fine. Clean restaurant. Friendly employees. Pretty looking restaurant. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves good healthy oriental food.

The service is somewhat rude and they don’t really smile haha. BUT!!! Their food is extremely delicious, I’ve been to a few other Filipino restaurants in town, and their food here is more tasty and authentic! If you’re new to Filipino food, try their lumpia (eggrolls), pancit (noodles), and for dessert the must have «halo-​halo»! There menu items are expensive but hey, you pay for the good food! They also have a little store in there too!

Food was okay here, service was fair. Not sure if it’s just the Filipino Americans here but it sure is different when pinoy kind of loose that friendliness as a filipino when they come to the states.

Went in with a few Filipino friends from work and we ordered a vast amount of food from crispy Pata to pancit bihon! Aldereta (I think I spelled it right) and it was all delicious! Employees were very nice and tended to our needs! I’ll definitely be coming again! :)

I, as a half-​Filipino (from the Northeast) make it an event to visit Sari-​Sari whenever I’m in San Antonio and absolutely love the owners, whom are extremely hospitable and friendly. The cooks I’m pretty sure are actually from the Philippines. So, naturally… the food has an authentic and home cooked feel to it. They even hook me up with free sides as I’m a frequent guest!
If you’re looking for some authentic asian food, more specifically from the Philippines… it’s definitely worth a stop in. You won’t regret it.

I’m always on the lookout for great Filipino food when I travel, and this place is the best hands down. I loved the food and warm inviting feeling from the employees. I highly recommend to anyone visiting this place !

Growing up I never met anyone that made better Filipino food than my mom. Until I had Sari sari! I love their sinigang pork, Bicol express, and kare kare. Don’t even have to mention their crispy pata but that would my choice for my last meal if I was on death row.

Horrible place the food is not good and its expensive! I ordered chapsuey and it was taste bad old (panis) the server are rude specially the old lady she doesn’t smile instead she give you attitude! This store they should name it SORI SORI and not Sari Sari!

Food was so good. Very satisfied. I was tempted with their display of desserts. They’ve renovated the place last month so bathroom has granite countertops and, clean.
I came back here again in search of Filipino cuisine after so many years being away in another city.

As far as I know, Sari-​Sari is but one of only two eateries on San Antonio’s Northwest Side offering authentic dishes from the Philippines. Although the shopping center in which Sari-​Sari is housed has welcomed a recent exterior renovation, the restaurant’s interior still suffers as too humble, too low-​key, too bland. Their next-​door Asian grocery, however, remains a nice touch. Good first impressions — convenient location, easy access, ample parking, decent prices.
Menu highlights include Sari-Sari’s Chicken/​Pork Adobo, Filipino Puchero, Bicol Express, and their frozen dessert Halo-​Halo (think shaved ice on steroids or, more accurately, on top of abundant perfectly creamy and not-​too-​sweet ingredients including Magnolia’s signature ube ice cream). Moreover, LUNCH SPECIALS ARE $ 6. Regarding a buffet as mentioned by another review, there is none, at least as of late; however, the restaurant is open from 9 – 9 M-​Sat and 9 – 6 on Sunday.
If you’re new to the Filipino cuisine or branching out from semi-​similar cuisines (e.g. Indian), you’ll find the common stewed/​braised meat formula familiar. But some key differences… (1) Filipino dishes present more savory [and at times maybe too salty] compared to their Indian counterparts; (2) with the exception of a few dishes, lamb is nearly absent from Filipino food and pork/​beef more heavily consumed; and (3) jasmine rice is to the Filipino cuisine as naan and roti are to Indian.
Ultimately, Sari-​Sari is worth a visit, especially when a departure from SA’s too-​prevalent Chinese/​Japanese/​Vietnamese/​Thai food scene is needed. Do they provide the closest thing to a home-​cooked meal by one’s lola? Quite possibly. Is it out-​of-​this-​world quality? Not really. Rating specifics (i.e. 1 – 5, low-​high)… Overall recommendation = 3; Food taste and quality = 3.5; Portion size = 3; Price = 3; Restaurant atmosphere = 2.5; General service = 4; Waitstaff amiability = 4; Location and/​or first impression = 3.

Ok. I had to wait a few days to post because I wanted to be more objective, but the fact that there were roaches in this place was more than I could bear. We told the staff about it, but they didn’t seem to care. I wasn’t even issued an apology.
The food and product was over priced because of the lack of Filipino stores around San Antonio, but considering the cleanliness of the place they should be a little more realistic about their pricing.
I don’t even want to comment is the quality of the food because I am still appalled by the fact that there were roaches in plain site!

Sorry, but as much as I would love to support this small business, there won’t be a next time…

Good food. The lechon kawali is on point. Taho is the shiz. Customer service, waitress are kinda rude and don’t smile. But I still come for the good food considering there’s a limited amount of restaurants that serve Filipino food. The grocery store inside the restaurant is overpriced but like I said the food is very satisfying!

The food was awesome! Fast friendly service. The dining area looked a little unorganized, but I was ordering to-​go anyway. I will order food from there again!

First time here and new to town. Since I’m not back at home to eat my moms homemade filipino food, I decided to come here.
I ordered:
–lumpia shanghai — it was very yummy. It was more tasteful than my own moms. Sorry mom ;) still love you lol
— bechol express– omgosh! That was sooo yummy. So tasteful. I got it really spicy. Only bad thing was that when I had the mussel on my plate, a piece of the shell or whatever you call it. I bit so hard into it but other than that it was so damn good.
— Kare kare– this is my favorite filipino dish and this place really did a great job. The bagoong (shrimp paste) that goes with the kare kare was bee verY delicious. I was really impressed. I asked if it was homemade because it didn’t taste like the bottle stuff. And yes it is homemade.
— Halo halo– wow it was yummy. I love the ube ice cream. That is my favorite. That last time I had halo halo was back the Philippines 4 years ago. It’s perfect for this hot weather ! :)
— also bought a couple of things at the store they have right next door to stock up at home.
The atmosphere was like being at home at my moms. Felt very comfortable and relaxed. If anyone that’s not use to filipino mom and pops place, don’t expect anything fancy shmancy. Just go with the flow. It’s a nice place. I will definitely go back to try more of their dishes! :)

Filipino food is pretty new to us, so I don’t have a lot of context for comparison, but we know good food and we’ve thoroughly enjoyed every meal at Sari-​Sari. It’s definitely a genuine mom-​and-​pop small restaurant, so set your service expectations accordingly. We have found the staff to be friendly and helpful, but it’s not the standard American «my name is Chad and I’ll be insincerely pandering for a big tip this evening» service experience. As is so often the case in life, courtesy and an open mind will serve you well.
As pretty much everyone has pointed out, the crispy pata is basically the ultimate pork experience. However, it’s also enough for like 3 – 4 people. Not that taking home a bunch of leftover crispy pig skin and succulent pork is the worst fate. Also in the «porktacular» category, the lechon kawali (crispy cubes of pork belly) is pretty amazing if you’re into pork belly. Which I am. A lot.
The Bicol Express (shrimp, muscles and I think some pork in a creamy coconut curry sauce with various vegetables) was extraordinarily good, and a bit different from anything I’ve tasted before. Mine, however, came with the large prawns in their shells with their heads on. I’m not at all squeamish about that sort of thing, but it was a little awkward for such a saucy dish. If I’d been at home, I would have torn into it, but I didn’t want to get too messy in a restaurant.
We also tried a sort of stew or curry made with pork and pork blood, and although I’ve definitely had mixed luck with dishes made with blood, I can recommend this without reservation. It’s delicious! Finally, grab yourself some dessert at the bakery counter on the way out. We tried a couple of things and found them fresh, tasty and unique.
If you’re even remotely curious about Filipino food, give Sari-​Sari a try. We love it and will definitely be back. But even if it’s not your cup of tea, I think you’ll find it interesting and memorable.

FANTASTIC FOOD, GREAT SERVICE
We were greeted by a very friendly couple upon walking in and seated immediately, ordered the obligatory appetizer lumpias, those came out hot, crispy and delicious. Their entrees do take a while, I’d guess we waited 15 – 20 minutes after we placed the order for chicken adobo and beef caldereta before it was tabled, if you’re in a rush don’t go, or call in your order ahead. Our food was great, the best filipino food I’ve had in Texas that didn’t come from my kitchen. The only downside to the meal, and I understand that it sounds like nitpicking but it matters to me: they use Silverswan brand soy sauce as opposed to Kikkoman, which my tastebuds just can’t get down with (blasphemy! I know, Silverswan is «legit» Pinoy, but if you’re into the Swan, even more the reason for YOU to love the place).
Their little store connected to the restaurant was pretty neat, they had all the things I fell in love with as a kid: jelly candies, shrimp chips, crab paste, they carry bottled calmansi juice as well as powdered calmansi (!?), unfortunately I didn’t find the fresh calmansi fruits I was looking for (powdered calmansi!?), but I’ll keep going back and asking until I do.

Omg I just had the best pork in my life! I’m a huge fan of Vietnamese and Chinese roasted pork because I love love love the skin gooey fat and juicy meat. That being said…
This was my first time trying deep fried pork. It was so good! Ordered the crispy pata which was a HUGE piece of pork with skin attached and deep fried to perfection! The only bad thing about it was we should have brought more friends to help eat it. The skin was so crispy and the meat under it juicy and tender. The meat just fell off the bone. The pork is pricey at 19.99 but it would easily feed 3 – 4 people.
We also ordered lumpia and they were crispy filled with a price of pork. Very yummy! We also ordered a noodle dish but we barely touched it not because it wasn’t yummy we just couldn’t get enough of the pork.
There is also a little bakery in there and even though I had to pass on it today I will be back to try some!
Market is small but filled. Lots of snacks and good amount of veggies and some fruit.
