Such a cool magazine. It’s like the New Yorker, but for San Antonio. It has a lot of social stuff in there, and a great calendar that lets you know where the cool stuff is going on. The ads in there are useful, local and relevant. There’s not really any in depth, controversial topics in there. But they do have a lot of good stuff about things that are going on around town, and the newest restaurant to open up. There’s a lot of real estate info in there too, letting you know about all the greatest and latest mansions that’re going up on the market. You gotta have this magazine on subscription, since the articles are so topical and timely. What good is it to read about last month’s Fiesta events, when you would’ve been there if you had picked up the magazine hot off the press! Overall, it’s a great magazine that’s a good representation of our city!

San Antonio Magazine slinks out some high-gloss journalism each month. Being a monthly, the quality of output is slightly more refined than an alt. weekly or daily could produce. And understandably so. Much of the content is very locally-focused — politico, food and business in particular. It’s hard to imagine a lower income resident from the West Side or East Side picking up a copy each month, though. The magazine plays its demographics and does well within them.
