SO good! And the people that were working there tonight were so sweet! I almost didn’t go tonight after seeing some reviews on here but I decided to go anyway and it was really good! The sauces are amazing and go really with with the chicken that actually has a really good flavor. :)

I was impressed the moment I walked in. Very nice clean restaurant, great employees who acted like they wanted to be there, and the food came out very fast. The chicken was very good as were the mashed potatoes. The only opportunities are that I’m not a big plantains fan and the price of adding a side was kind of expensive. Overall it was still pretty good.

Cannot say enough good things about this place. Went here for the first time today. Staff were friendly and helpful; even offering free samples of the sides we were trying to choose from. Food was low-priced, healthy, and extremely tasty. We will absolutely be back!

Bright festive atmosphere with upbeat Caribbean Latin music. Menu offers a variety of mains and sides. Real metal flatware. Beef and pork were tender and delicious. Yucca was very good. Fruit drinks are too small. Staff bring food to your table. Yum. Will return.

We’ve been here both times for dinner and they never disappointed. The family meal satisfies a family of 4 very well. Their chicken is to die for. The guava bbq is very delicious. The mango peach juice is great but the tropical(not sure if that’s the correct name but the orange one not the yellow) and the coconut water tastes bad. Service is great, they clean your plates up for you. Cute and clean place. Overall a great place to eat.

Being my first time the staff took time to walk me through the menu, and describe the sides and dishes to me… it was tasty, hot, and plate presentation wasn’t bad. I have to say not a bad sit down meal for a fast food price. The alcohol made it a bit more expensive but they used top shelf rum!

I really like this place. Whenever I need a reminder of my puertorican food and I don’t want to cook we go here, and trust me, even my gringo husband l and Ioves the food. White rice, red kidney beans and juicy oven roasted chicken. And those fried sweet plantains(amarillitos), you gotta have them. Only downside is that they don’t have tostones.

Fresh food in my Tropichop(beef, yellow rice with veggies, the works on toppings) and the sauce bar. Nice touch to have mango iced tea available. Counter staff didn’t act welcoming, just tired @ 9:00pm.

Really good place for a lunch. So I have been to place before but it was years ago in NJ. For some reason they all closed down in NJ. This place the prices are right. About the same you would pay at chipotle. But you have an option for a small or large bowl. The large bowl is good size portion for $ 8 with a drink. Not bad deal. The food was tasty. Would have gotten a better rating if the one guy working in the back had some gloves on and didn’t shake the remnants of corn off his hands back into its container. Kinda gross. If I saw that when I ordered I probably would have left. Now for the food. All white meat chicken(with pork beef or veggie options). Brown rice(with other rice options). Lots of options beans(two types). Veggie peppers onions corn etc. Like I said the portion size is good. Especially the larger bowl. The side sauces. Two types of bbq to add I personally liked the mustard curry and the garlic cilantro. Worth the try if you’re in the area. Just check the hands of the workers. No gloves. No go. They may have daily specials. If so it’s definitely worth it.

All of these Haters Gonna Hate reviews. Not sure why, as I cannot wait to come back to Pollo Tropical again and again. A product of the Taco Cabana family, but hailing from Florida, Pollo Tropical is a rather new addition to the Great State of Texas. Restaurant management – if you’re reading this, please get locations to Austin ASAP. The skinny – super flavorful, Caribbean-inspired menu items that are easy on the wallet. Super tender and succulent meats that really impressed us: roasted chicken, «mojo» pork, and amazing shredded beef – all much better than you’d expect from a giant national chain. Interesting sides that seem to straddle the border of «traditional» vs «this isn’t what they eat in the Caribbean, but we’re going to put it on the menu anyway: mac and cheese vs boiled yucca; mashed potatoes and gravy vs black beans. The salsa bar is also something you’ll talk about. Lots of choices, and likely flavor combinations a lot of Texans may not have previously experienced. You’ll want to try them all. Can’t wait to be back when I’m in San Antonio, Dallas, or Houston(and again, hopefully very soon in Austin).

I wouldn’t want to step in this place again. Had the manager at the cashier and he barely greeted us… I guess he hates his job here with the long hard stare while I was ordering… that tells you a lot about customer service here… and about that chicken that I ordered, too dry and no flavor at all. If you want real chicken, go to el pollo loco!

This restaurant offers excellent customer service. Friendly staff, clean tables, the sauce bar is clean and filled to perfection. Tyler was our cashier today and his customer service was impressive. He was articulate, friendly and helpful. The food was delish! Healthy delicious fast food options!

Have been here a few times with the LOML(Love Of My Life). We usually split the trio with the two sides. She loves the yellow vegetable rice with red beans, while I prefer the Corn soufflé. I don’t get much of it as she also likes it very much. For the plate itself we get the pork, and beef with the ¼ chicken. The chicken has always been moist with a nice smoky flavor. The pork and beef are also very good with a slight edge to the ____. I can’t pick which is better as I like both of the other meats. For the salsa bar, I’ve not had either of the two types of BBQ sauces(regular and guava), but have tried all of the sauces. The rum pineapple is their signature sauce and it is a very good compliment to the savory meats. I also like the garlic cilantro sauce and the spicy poya-pita sauce. I’ve even tried mixing them to get a mix of flavors in one bite. The curry mustard would be higher on my list if it was a bit thicker. I think it’s a bit too runny. Overall it’s very good. But wish they had some Jamaican jerk flavored items too.

This place is just gross. I live close by and truly was expecting it to be a great change of pace. I went a few times when if first opened and was not impressed but figured they would smooth out the rough edges. Just hasn’t happened. It used to be packed… but now you can go and your are likely the only person there. I guess that a bonus.

Went in for lunch today, first time in. I wasn’t sure what to expect since my first choice was Taco Cabana. It was great, the female manager at the register was great, she navigated us through the menu and helped us with our choices. This new concept is amazing, and the price for the quality and service we received on our first visit will keep is coming back. Kudos for [e ning up here in San Antonio.

My wife and I always visit Pollo Tropical when we’re in Miami. It’s one of our favorites. Inexpensive, amazing food. This is not the same restaurant. It appears Taco Cabana got franchise rights in Texas. The chicken isn’t the same(closer to TC’s chicken), the beans are boring, and the plantains lack the Miami touch. The fried yuca were good though. I’d actually recommend just going to Taco Cabana. The food is better and the prices are a bit cheaper. Also they got my order wrong a couple of times… but I’ll chalk that up to them having been a new restaurant trying to figure out logistics and systems.

I ordered a chicken caesar salad from the drive-thru. My total came to a little over $ 7 but, I figured I’d get what I paid for. The salad was tasty but, I was disappointed in the size for the price I paid. I could see the bottom of the bowl and although it had enough croutons and chicken, and plenty of dressing, a little more lettuce would’ve been great. I’m not sure if I’ll visit again.

This place was such a disappointment. The menu promises amazing looking food with lots of flavor. I tried the mojo pork platter with black beans and rice, the fried goyo and of course a roll. The pork wasn’t awful, just had zero flavor. Like someone literally cooked it in a crock pot all day with no seasoning. The black beans were gross and looked as if they had been sitting out all day. The roll was cold and hard and tasted like from a package you could purchase at any grocery store. As for the goyo, supposedly fried potatoes… I’m not even sure what the heck they gave me… appearance of boiled potatoes with texture of a cross between a pear and bamboo shoots… Very strange. The only decent thing was the rice. Don’t waste your time or money here.

With the amount of people at this place I had high hopes. We ordered and sat down with our number. The server brought out the incorrect food but did leave us with the salads we ordered. Next she comes out again with the incorrect food. She takes our ticket and return with what appeared to be the wings we wanted, only to discover that the inside of the wings were super cold. We got a manager who corrected the wings… I guess third times a charm. He apologized and said he’d bring a dessert on the house. Guess what never showed! Bad service, cold food, dirty restaurant, and management that doesn’t follow through. I won’t be back!
