It was gonna be a 2 star review, but after my whole family was disappointed in their phở, I decided to bring it down a notch. We were all craving phở after moving here from Hawaii, so we decided to try the nearest Vietnamese restaurant. I’ll have to wait a while for me to forget the taste, and give it another try.

Had the house special. Extremely tasty. Added a little hot sauce to my taste, but even before, it had a great taste. Will definitely be back!

We finally got around to trying this place out. Pleasantly surprised. We ordered the Phở with brisket and flank steak and an order of the shrimp spring rolls. Our server was attentive. Apparently they are under new ownership. My only complaint was the peanut sauce for the spring rolls was very thin and needed a bit more flavor however that may just be my personal preference as I’ve seen it done differently at other places. I definitely plan on going back next time I am in the mood for Phở.

Two stars for the atmosphere. The foods was, well, awful. The grilled meat on rice was dry like beef jerky. My husband phở was the worst. No cared about the noodle they had, they were hard. The soup wasn’t not that tasty. You could do better with a Vietnamese instant phở at home.

So I finally broke down and went back to Phở Vy. I was so surprised, the service was amazing! Come to find out there’s a new owner. It was just a complete turnaround. Food and services are wonderful.

Been coming here pretty often. I think for where I live and where this is located it is a win win for me. I do think the broth for their phos is hands down the tastiest I have had in SA. You HAVE to try the meat ball in either the #6 or #65. Their hot oil is hands down AMAZING but if you take to go you need to ask 2,3,4,5 times and check your order to make sure they gave you any. For some reason they seem to NOT want to give any away. I have ordered #60TWICE which is suppose to be a combo(once in house and other to go) they DONOT give the meat ball with it and when I asked was told that it had a lot of meat and that is how it comes. I also ordered a dish that was suppose to have frog legs(only one on the menu) and it did NOT have any frog legs and was rather bland. I would suggest simply sticking to the phos and vermicelli bowls to get the maximum flavor. All in all it is a decent place. The staff seems very friendly for the most part, it can be touch and go depending on the day. Give it a shot and decide for yourself.

This is the best I’ve ever had. Tried Vietnamese once before in the medical area it was ok but just thought it wasn’t for me. This time my grandson talked me into it and I loved it. Played it safe with the meat and rice and my grandson gonna the sesame chichen and husband got the phở. Every thing was delicious. Will definitely become regulars

Solid phở. Very flavorful broth. Food comes out quick(which is a good sign for phở because you know the broth has been cooking for a long time). Surprisingly nice interior.

I came back for a second visit today with my daughter. This time it was time to try the phở. They gave various categories and I had one of the bowls under«adventurous». I don’t remember the number, but it had tendon, tripe, and I believe flank. The tendon and tripe both had a light, delicious flavor. My daughter had the phở with brisket, which she enjoyed. Before delivering the entrée they brought a plate with lime, jalapeños, mint, cilantro and bean sprouts to add to the phở. The jalapeños were fresh and added a great heat to the soup, while the sprouts added a nice crunch. Of course the cilantro adds its one of a kind flavor. One simple, but big difference in my opinion from my first visit was this time they refilled my tea and my daughter’s water throughout our meal. This made for a better visit and left an overall positive impression. Looking forward to my third visit.

Went to this place last night because I was feeling a little ill and wanted something with broth. I ended up changing my mind and tried their Sesame chicken because I am still hoping to find a place here in SA that makes it like the east coast. My girlfriend got their phở and we also had grilled pork spring rolls(not fried). It was a little busy in there but not more than usual for a weekend. Once we ordered our drinks we waited for about 10 minutes and the food was out piping hot and quick. The only problem is we still didn’t have our appetizer. Now, don’t get me wrong but the whole point of an appetizer is to keep you occupied until your main dish gets there. We waited and didn’t eat thinking it would be out another minute or two. Nothing. Finally after about ten minutes the manager came over and asked if everything was okay and my girlfriend said we never got our spring rolls. We heard her yell at someone in the kitchen and then a couple minutes later they were on the table. The spring rolls are always really good, especially the ones that are not fried. The meat inside is really good but ours were missing cilantro, which they usually put in them. Then the phở was really good apparently, as she ate all of it and said she wished the meat was cut a little better because she had really big pieces that were hard to tear. My sesame chicken was good but it tasted just like the chicken in the vermmicelli plates. I don’t know if their was hoisen sauce or something else it it but it tasted a little off. I was mildly disappointed just because of that but it was still pretty good, given that San Antonio has horrible sesame chicken from an east coast(NYC Chinese food standpoint). The worst part was just having to wait for anyone to come to the table, you can tell that they need more servers because you have to wait awhile for water. Oh and my other annoyance, if you use a garnish on your plate it still should be edible. The broccoli was hardly cooked, it was still cold and hard. I hope this place is better next time because they are usually so much better than this. I was disappointed last night…

I just had the best phở I’ve had in San Antonio so far. The prices are VERYREASONABLE. I’ve had flank, eye round, tripe and tendon phở and let me tell ya, the broth not was only DELICIOUS but it had a lot of meat! They don’t short you on your order at all and for only $ 7.95! The place is family friendly but the staff could be a little nicer. Will I come back? Hell yeah, the food is worth it.

Don’t let the simple sign fool you, as simple as phở and other dishes can be, this place does it awesomely right. Delicious and fast. I went on a Friday at 3ish and it was quiet and peaceful. I got the #34 I believe(Phở w/eye steak & meatballs) w/a pepsi plus tip came up to around $ 12. Soup was hot and so many condiments to add and mix! P. S. they have a pretty badass cash register, random but make sure you check it out. Lol

I have eaten here so many times and brought coworkers, friends and my family. All are in love with the phở and rice plates. I highly recommend the Ba Lo Lot, meatballs wrapped in mint leaves that you eat with fresh lettuce and carrots. Phở soups are very popular too, veggies are fresh and the broth is tasty. Bön Bu Hue is a spicy beef soup from Hue in Vietnam, they have it here and it’s my alternative to phở. Enjoy!

This place is so delicious! There isn’t a lot of places to get good phở from in San Antonio. And then even tho this place hasn’t been opened long it’s super delicious! Everything taste fresh, I had the spring roll appetizer that has three different types and the rolls were the size of my hand. The bubble tea was delicious as well! This easily became one of my favorite places.

I was actually on my way to Chic-fil-a when I noticed this phở shop in the same shopping plaza and decided to eat here instead. The food was pretty good and service was great. Shortly after I was seated a woman came over to take my drink order. I noticed that they had a bunch of smoothies and I was particularly interested in the avocado smoothie. I’m a little picky with my avocado smoothies though and I wanted to know if they were made with powder(yuck!) or real avocados. She told me that they were made with half powder and half avocado but stated that if I wanted it made with just avocados, that she could do that also. I asked to make it a little sweet and when she brought it back to my table she said that if it wasn’t sweet enough, she could add more. It was perfect. I ordered the grilled pork spring rolls and the Mi soup… I can’t remember the name but it had pork dumplings and shrimp in it. Both were really good! Overall, the food was great and I love the fact that the staff was so accommodating. I’ll definitely be coming back.

Thank you Unilocalers for the Unilocal!tips and reviews. Everyone was right on with their description of restaurant and of the food quality. Service was prompt, extensive menu which resulted in very good food. Glad to find this place out in this area-don’t need to drive so far now. I will not hesitate to come back… making plans for the return.

This place was just on the cusp between three and four stars. The difference came down to price which I thought, for lunch, was a tad more than other Vietnamese places of similar quality and quantity. That being said, the food was tasty. I got the BBQ pork with rice, which came with salad. Unfortunately, mine did not come with an eggroll like one of my dining companions. Bummer. Service was adequate but a bit slow considering the few customers during the lunch rush. The menu is pretty extensive and they also have the requisite boba teas and smoothies. I will not hesitate to visit this location again.

Fast, fresh, nice price in a surprising location of San Antonio. I had the Phở tai and café su da, both were spot on with good Vietnamese food I’ve had in the past. I’m so glad a nice Vietnamese phở restaurant has opened near my home — planning to come back!

San Antonio might not have a thriving phở culture, but there are a few places around town to get your fix. Phở Vy is fairly new, just a few months in operation, but they run an efficient, well-oiled machine. The restaurant is clean, well lit(I hate restaurants that are so dimly lit I ended up having to strain my eyes to see what I’m eating), and well staffed. Time from walking in the door to being seated with a menu — under 30 seconds Time to getting a drink in hand –under 90 seconds Time to placing order — within 2 minutes of getting drink Time to receiving food after order placed — 8 minutes The food is exceptional. It is fresh, hot, filled with plenty of delicious meat(they do not skimp on the meat here) and vegetables. The portions are hearty, even for a big eater and the presentation is fantastic for the price point. One thing that really stood out to me was their tea selection. The iced green tea is superb. You can get it in a glass, or, like me, get it in a to-go cup, which was pretty cute in itself. They mix your tea with the cane sugar and ice, shake it and put in a to-go cup, then heat seal a plastic film(complete with cute cartoon characters on it). A rather large straw with a beveled end is provided to pierce the film on the cup. When traveling with a drink in your car, these things are awesome because they’re spill proof. If you’re a phở fiend, this place is just what you need.
