I’m horrible about remembering to write positive reviews but I have to. MJ is my go-to. The fried cheese rangoon appetizer will make you swoon, and I am quite the connoisseur as I get them every damn time I eat at Asian restaurants. They are flaky, almost buttery on the outside, gooey and cheesy inside. I’ve never, EVER had better. The entrees are always a solid 4 – have had the sesame chicken, Mongolian beef, spicy basil beef, garlic chicken, and some of the sushi. All are really good – never a bad experience. Service is prompt and excellent. I have never given a 5-star review because I’ve never had a perfect experience. I think this place is pretty damn close though. It’s my go-to for Chinese food in SA!

Do NOTGOTHERE! If I could give this place a –10 I would!!! 1.) A roach has fallen from their sealing while we were eating 2.) The WHOLE manager had the audacity to say that they will refuse to give us service and told us to never come back to their restaurant because we «supposedly» didn’t tip which was untrue. They had no records of proof. Like who says that? 3.) Horrible customer service. No business etiquette. 4.) Food takes forever to be served Not Worth it go elsewhere! They don’t deserve the coins. It looks like they’re going out of business anyway(I should’ve known better)

Decent Chinese food. Service has always been very good every time I have been here. Only reason I don’t give more stars is that the flavor is average, and I tend to want more spice in my Chinese food, which is why I look for spicy Hunan or Szechuan. The food here is way too mild for my taste. but, when the office colleagues want Chinese, this is what they usually choose because it is close to the office, and they like American style Chinese food. So, I go along and remember the days before I discovered that what Americans call Chinese food is nothing like what people in China actually eat! I do like the Hot and Sour soup here, though!

My boyfriend and I just tried this place for the first time for lunch today. Pretty impressed. We started with the calamari and miso soup. Both were tasty. I especially liked the dipping sauce that came with the calamari. I got the sesame chicken and he got the bonbon noodles as entrees. Both had chili peppers marking they were«spicy» the sesame was not spicy to me but his noodles did have a little kick(I am pretty whimpy with spicy) both dishes were tasty and we stuffed ourselves eating all that we could. Our server was very friendly and attentive. He was a little goofy but super cool! I’m sure we will be back again soon

This is truly one of my favorite restaurants in the city. Restrooms are always clean. Restaurant is always clean. Reverse happy hour is the BEST! The sushi rolls are delicious… 2 rolls & edamame for less than $ 10 = PERFECTION!

One of my favorite places to sit down and eat Chinese. They are quick at getting you in and out for lunch and have good deals during lunch also.

4.5 stars for environment and location + service, plus those sake bombs… OMG those sake bombs. Such a great deal during happy hour. I’ve said it once and I will say it again, hopefully I don’t give away this little secret of mine, but $ 5 actually equals out to 3 or 4 sake bombs, if you’re lucky. Only way to shoot them is with that Sapporo!!! Maybe even add a $ 3 glass of white or red house wine, no fear of any judgement here… They have their traditional happy hour AND a reverse happy hour, from 8pm to close. What a nice way to spend an evening with friends! $ 1 egg rolls & spring rolls(I never get those) but I do get the crunchy spring roll and the pan-fried dumplings, plus the lettuce wrap package and the crab puffs, all on happy hour. At $ 1 — $ 6 for tasty happy hour bites, their prices are very easy on your pocket book. My only gripe is that they use iceberg lettuce, eeww, I would much prefer butter lettuce or even romain! Anywho, get over there some time soon and check out their friendly service and HH specials. You may have to ask them to bust out the HH menu, but it will all be worth it!!!

My partner and I were wanting to go to another place for happy hour, but traffic was so bad that we would have missed it. Instead we went here for their happy hour(3 – 6PM daily) and I was pleasantly surprised. First, the place is nice, clean and well kept. When we first got there I had to use the restroom, which was quite a way from the main seating area. Our server immediately figured I was looking for it and gave me directions. It turned out to be very clean. After sitting down our waiter brought us two waters and asked if we had any questions. At this point we asked about the happy hour menu since there was not one on the table. Our waiter kindly grabbed one for us and gave us a few minutes to look it over. What is nice is that the menu they give you is the same one as online, as such we had a good idea of what we wanted and ordered our meal. The waiter took our order and in about 15 minutes we had our 4 rolls and hot sake. For the rolls we ordered a crunchy roll($ 3), a salmon and avocado roll($ 4), a spicy tuna roll($ 4), and a dynamite roll($ 5). Of the 4 the dynamite was my personal favorite. For the dynamite roll, there was various fish in there with some avocado as well. The fish was fresh, and the roll well balanced. Not too much rice and just enough filling. The spicy tuna roll was more spicy than I expected and for my tastes, overpowered everything else. I would have enjoyed it without the drop of sriracha added to the top. It wasn’t the worst I have had, but I have had much better. The salmon and avocado roll was exactly as it sounds. Avocado in the middle with a piece of raw salmon. Again, well balanced between the fish, avocado and rice. The salmon was mostly fresh except for a couple pieces. The crunchy roll. This had a snow crab salad in the middle with some cucumbers. On the outside were some tempura flakes to give it the«crunch.» My partner liked this one the most as she likes crunchy things. Hot sake($ 3). Your standard hot sake really. If you like sake I say its a good amount that you get for the happy hour price. Since the restaurant was not that busy at 5:30PM on a Wednesday, the servers and staff were attentive. The sushi chef also came by to ask how we thought of the meal. Overall a nice experience as I said in the beginning. However, looking at the full-priced menu I wouldn’t want to go unless it was during happy hour again.

It was a bit cold in the restaurant and I guess we went to late to be served on the patio so that was a downside. However, the food was delicious and the sake bombs were the first, and best, that I’ve ever had.

We had a fantastic experience… the black peppered steak was so tender and delicious. We had the sushi appetizer rolled in cucumber which was so good. Our service was great and we will be back. Really nice atmosphere.

Came here at 11:40am and there were less than 15 people seating at the restaurant, yet I had to wait 8 minutes for the hostess to come up. No Hi or welcome, I asked to be seated at the sushi bar and she said that I could seat there but that it will take some time before I get serviced because she was the hostess and also the server for that area. Nobody else was behind me in line and there were only 2 people seating in a table in that area(sushi bar was actually empty). Still wanting to give them a try, I asked to be seated at a table. It took 9 minutes for a server to welcome me and ask me for anything to drink. Sushi menu was less than 15 types of sushi(maybe the lunch menu is limited but the server did not mention that fact when I asked him if that was the whole sushi menu). I ordered some steamed dumplings(pork) and the Duncan, Spicy Salmon and Shrimp Tempura rolls. Eveything came in a timely manner. Presentation was very good and food was very tasty. Aside from the rookie hostess, I would give this place another try. PS: I wrote this review back in April. For some reason it was saved on my profile instead of posted.

Today was my off day for running errands so I dropped in for a quick bite to eat at the bar. I beat the crowd in — Yeah! This place was busy. Despite the hustle and bustle going on around me, I had a pleasant lunch. I had the crab wontons as an appetizer. I ate half of my entrée of shrimp and vegetables with fried rice and a spring roll. This dish was very good and I was satisfied with the ½ portion I ate at the restaurant and the other half that I will enjoy for dinner. I have been here before and the food is consistently good!

I’m horridly adverse to American Chinese food… it’s pretty awful &, even if I didn’t think that, I’m allergic to the mass quantities of MSG they load on the food! I was very timid to try this place, but I’d heard good things about their happy hour.(we made it for the«reverse» one, which starts after 8pm). This place pleasantly surprised me: no MSG/GMOs in their food AND it’s tasty at a great price. We started with sake bombs… tasty, but, chug it fairly quickly cause warm beer doesn’t taste the best. The spicy edamame was only $ 3…and sooo delicious & addictive! Wow. The squid and seaweed salad(also $ 3) was also good. The egg rolls were a buck each(yep!) & the wrapper was like a flaky, yummy pastry… dang it’s a mouthgasm… the insides are good, but nothing special… dunk into the hot mustard then the sweet sauce and BOOM, you’re welcome. The ambiance is very nice & quite dim/romantic. Very clean & modern. Service was good! We’ll be back for happy hour again!(I’m already drooling thinking of that spicy edamame…)

I’ve been here several times and tried a lot of their Chinese dishes, but I haven’t yet tried their Sushi, so can’t yet give a review on that. I love the flavor and presentation of their dishes. Most, if not all, of the dishes I’ve tried are so flavorful, some with sauces that you feel like licking the rest off the plate or from the bowl. They also spend time on their presentation, as you can tell from the picture which I’ll post. Today I had the MJ Sea Bass(lunch portion), with an egg drop soup and MJ select rice(both which are included in the lunch price). The presentation was great and taste awesome, but the portion was a little small, in my opinion, even for a lunch portion. I probably could’ve ordered 2 of the lunch plates to feel full. The only downside on some of their dishes is the portion size on some dishes. Some dishes have the right amount of food, in my opinion, but others seem almost to be closer to appetizer size, versus entrée size. Had the portion size been bigger, I may have given them an additional star. The service is OK. They do a good job of refilling your drinks, but it can take a while to get your order(maybe due to extra time for presentation). We also had a long time waiting to get seated for lunch one time(although not this time). I’d definitely go back for the flavor, and to try the sushi.

I don’t usually do reviews after only trying one thing but I was never so immediately unimpressed. I should have went to Thai Topaz right down the street. The dragon roll was SOBORING. The only thing that slightly impressed me was the presentation, which they obviously put all their emphasis on. It actually looked KINDA like a dragon, but tasted very lame. Not much flavor, the hot mustard was stupidly way too hot. But hey, it’s a Chinese Bistro after all.
