Food was like most of the Luby’s here in the San Antonio area. What stands out is the staff well at least at the time i came was very attentive. What was disappointing was it wasn’t the original chessecake like everywhere else.

No Vegetarian entrees. I can make a salad and cut veggies at home. The only pasta there had meat. I had a side salad and some Mac n cheese, my husband had a regular entrée but be aware, they charge for sides that were supposed to be included with meal. Came to be $ 20 for a regular entrée and my 2(3oz each) sides. Will not be back.

Usually I do not start with service, however, our server Gloria was bomb. Hustling to refill drinks and bring condiments, super helpful, energetic and friendly. I wish I can clone Gloria and put her in every dining experience of ours. The food and salads were remarkably fresh despite the buffet appeal. I liked not having to wait for food as we slept in on my day off and skipped breakfast to workout. If you are getting salad I highly recommend their raspberry vinaigrette as well as their tortilla soup and fish dishes. 2nd time through… Prices are high but the food sets the bar high.

This is definitely the best Luby’s in San Antonio. If you happen to be on this side of town, you cannot go wrong at lunch at this location. The fried fish is always crispy, the ladies will give you extra tartar sauce upon request, and everyday there is a new casserole. This luby’s has more character and spice than others in town. I think the grandma’s behind the scenes are putting their love and care into the food. If you go during the week try to sit in Gloria’s section. She will make sure that you have tea, tabasco, ketchup, you name it. Don’t forget to tip her! And don’t leave any valuables in your car bring them inside.

What can you really say about Luby’s. If you grew up in San Antonio you probably were brought here to eat the Lu Ann platter or to join your Grandparents. And that’s why I come here. Yes the food is so so at times but It has that nostalgia. I mean it really is cafeteria style but I still enjoy it. I recommend going to Luby’s at least once in your life. A little more explanation on the Lu Ann: you take a normal dish and you cut it half. You get a half of the a la carte portion plus two sides and a dessert for a set price. Believe me this set up gets you everything you need to have a fulfilling menu.
