Wow never again! When we checked in at the hostess stand, we were told there was a 45 minute wait. It then took almost 2 full hours before we finally got a table. When I complained to the manager, it was clear he could care less. We were a party of 9, and they put us at a table that was too small. Asked for 2 high chairs and were told only 1 was available. Then we were told the kitchen was behind, so it would be at least another half hour after we ordered before our food was ready. Then to top it all off, some random kid came up next to our table and started to puke! Needless to say, after all that we got up and left. Never once in the entire time we were there did one single employee seem to care that we were having a horrible experience. Next time we’ll head across the highway to Mi Casa Tamales so we can actually have a good meal.

I’m so upset, we loved this place. Good drinks, love the portion sizes and ceviche selection. Tonight I ordered grilled Baja fish tacos, the first two may have been fine but I definitely noticed the last one, completely raw and cool on the inside. I totally lost my appetite. We notified the waiter and he quickly removed my plate and apologized, he came back and said he told the kitchen staff and manager and that he took that meal off our bill. I would have liked to hear from the manager himself, especially because he kept looking at our table while talking to our waiter, but I mostly just don’t want to get sick. I may return for drinks, but that raw fish completely grossed me out.

Only one star because I had to. If you’re in a large party(10), you can forget it. We arrived at 5:25 and, although the whole place was wide open, were told it would be 30 – 40 minutes, so we chose to wait and had some beverages on the patio, An hour and twenty minutes later, and third inquiry with the manager, we still weren’t seated. Manager assures me after the third inquiry rlthat he was personally putting a table together for us. We waited another 10 and left. As we loaded last kid in the car, text came through that outer table was now ready. Joke.

Layout was nice, but location was loud as expected since it’s by a highway. Chips were actual tortilla chips but were excessively crunchy. My teeth hurt after about 3. Ordered the seafood tacos and they were good, but I was expecting them to be fresh and they were fried. Wasn’t a fan. In short, I won’t be going back.

Not a bad option to add to the list for a family after church. There is a playground for the kids. Great atmosphere. Good quality ingredients. Our food took a while to come out but we were a party of 14, somewhat expected. I think everyone at the table enjoyed themselves. They specialize in tacos and don’t expect to see the same old items from other Mexican food menus. The service was good and the manager was more than accommodating for our large party. They got demoted a star because I found out the drinks were $ 3 each including the kids. The kids meals were $ 6 each and did not include the drink. Do the math, that is a $ 9 kids meal and I have 3 kids. The playground was a great idea but if you were trying to attract families, um… You just priced yourself off the list.

Tuesday evening 7:30… I know they are fairly new, but the honeymoon is over. Atmosphere — Fun and Artsy. Service– Terrible. 20 mins after seating until someone showed up at table… after I went to remind«host» that we were there. Wife: «Strawberry Daiquiri?» «We don’t have vodka, only tequila and rum.» «It’s made with rum…». .“How do you make a strawberry daiquiri?” «never mind, I’ll have a Coke.» My very good Margarita finally arrived AFTER app and main course. Had to ask for it again… Food — Very good. Tasty, and some imagination.

The best micheladas and street tacos around! They put soy sauce in their micheladas which I’ve never heard of but turned out to be great. Good outside seating with huge play ground for kids. Recommended if you want some real mexican food!

Yea this place sucked pretty bad. To sum up my experience and other Unilocal reviews… I went for a weekday lunch and it was not busy at all so no excuse for sucky service and food Cons: –Staff is rude they seem to hate their job ! –Pork tacos were like dry strips of rubber tire no flavor at all –Mini tacos didn’t come with any toppings no lime, cilantro, guac –Ordered guac and didn’t come with chips –Chips are charged separate! –Tried to order corn and they were out –Over all the food lacked flavor –As other reviews said with all the awesome Mexican food in San Antonio you can skip this place Pros: –Id use this place possibly for drinks and atmosphere, feed your stomach elsewhere –was kid friendly with a playground, swings for carriers and high chairs Super disappointed ! :-/

Always love LaGloria. Unfortunately the Elote is out of season right now. My only complaint was the service this visit. Forgot three different items, never filled drinks and and was just not attentive at all. He was young and thought about giving him the feedback but didn’t this time around. Great food as always and thrilled there is one closer to Boerne.

I visited la gloria with 4 girl friends. Our server was friendly and attentive. Our food was hot and delicious. I ordered corn(elote) and queso. We all had drinks(i had a piña colada. The drinks are seriously divine. The restaurant was packed but not overcrowded, which made for a pleasant evening. The prices are a little high but you have to keep in mind your paying for tbe atmosphere. Its not a place i would likely frequent for that reason but I’ll be back.

It is a sad thing to see a delicious kitchen be ruined by a rude, inhospitable and lethargic front of house. I was going to start off this review by complimenting the fare, but honestly, the service from hosts as well as waiters has not even met my expectations three visits later and overshadows the lone bright spot of this ‘authentic Mexican street food’ restaurant. When you try to call to find out if there is a wait, you would be lucky for someone to pick up before your 4th attempt. Strike one. Then, arrive and are told it is a 10 minute wait, when in reality the wait always exceeds. Strike two. The third and finally strike is called when your server(on every occasion thus far) is rushing you through your meal. This is not an issue with just one waiter, we have endured this unfortunate circumstance on each visit. Tonight was the last straw when they wouldn’t even pick up their phone for us to ask if there is a wait for a table. It’s a terrible thing to have your customers promoted to leave a review after a bad experience and not a good one. Décor is creative, good is great but it is all spoiled by the service. I get you are a restaurant and need to make a dollar, but sacrificing your guests experience at the cost of turning a table one more time during dinner is a sure shot way to lose a repeat customer. Unfortunate at best. Will not be returning.

The food was excellent. Our server was prompt. Had the house margarita on the rocks hubby had sangria. We had queso fundido with chorizo con Rajas and we split bistec especial more than enough took some queso home. Definitely coming back. Plus the outside has great artsy stuff.

We really enjoyed our lunch here today. As We walked in we noticed they have a dog friendly patio, and this is a great idea. Then as we were seated, a purse stand was brought over to keep our purses off the floor, every restaurant needs this. Clean and friendly atmosphere. Chips were fresh and hot, which is nice because stale chips are an immediate turn off. The salsa was just okay, it could have been a little chunkier and fresher, but it wasn’t horrible. We ordered: chicken tacos, a beef sope, rice of the day, elote(street corn) and coconut flan. All of it was great. Amazing flavor and the tacos were full of meat, as opposed to being barely there and buried under lettuce. We couldn’t eat it all so we brought it home to share(there were no complaints) We WILLBEBACK

We got the Baja fish tacos and mole sope with chicken. We also paid extra for the chips and salsa. I think the chips were cheap, but I think that should always be complimentary at a Mexican restaurant. Anyways. PROS: The food is reasonably priced and very fresh. I also like that the tacos are priced to not include sides. I hardly ever eat rice and beans so I appreciate that I don’t pay for them unless I want them. Also, our waiter was awesome, very attentive. And the manager wss serving as a food runner that day… I think it’s awesome as he is willing to help out his staff and personally provide quality and efficient service to patrons. CONS: the noise! It was a cold day so the windows were all closed and the chatter in that place echos more than I prefer. Also –the mangonada marg, not that great. Next time I’d just go for the house marg.

We live in the area and wanted to try La Gloria. First of all, they’ve had a sign up that read«Future Home of La Gloria» for about 5 years. so you can imagine our suspense to try the place… Secondly, any restaurant that charges for horrible salsa and chips has to be a quack-shack. The corn was not typical of Mexican street corn; there’s better street corn at the Sea World concessions. The Mexican Pizza is a disgusting version of a chalupa. The guacamole is unflavorful and lacked citrus and cilantro. The kids menu entrees are oily and you can taste the grease in the fried tortillas and French fries. An utter disappointment. Even my 10 year old refuses to eat here.

VERYDISAPPOINTED!!! I would have rather dined at Las Palapas down the street. We came here for dinner after being told La Gloria was amazing. LOCATION: Prime Location and a very expensive piece of real estate, great job on finding it. BUILDING: The Structure itself was very cheaply constructed, plywood all over the place and sheet metal exterior. The Décor and painting were great! Entrance was fantastic I was going in with high expectations. However Sewer back up smell at the entrance, huge turnoff. The Staff were great and amazing! DRINKS: Bottled Water Ozarka $ 2.75!!! you buy a 32pack for a $ 1.00 More… Aquas Frescas Lemonade $ 3.00!!! The taste was of pre-mixture you buy at HEB.(for my daughter mind you). ALCOHOLICBEVERAGES: Beers– $ 4.75 for dos equis? I could understand $ 3.75 Pricing margaritas– Average Flavors — Not made correctly and were horrible I would have expected more for the price, Not worth the $ 9.00 Try a partida Rita at matamoros, or the Perfect Margarita at Tiagos. Some of the best flavors i’ve tasted and all hand crafted. FOOD: Appetizers: $ 5.00 Chips and Salsa — Not complementary, As I’m sure you already know, San Antonio is known for their complementary chips and Salsa, those who charge for it I believe are businesses that are not confident in their work and cheap. The Salsas both Red and Green were horrible no spice at all, bland, and the red salsa overly salty and tangy. Green tasted like avocado mush and not a hot sauce for«mexican street tacos» nor chips and Salsa not authentic. Molcajete — With the Adabo was probably the only thing I would eat here. Mexican pizza– talk about the worst Giant chalupa ever made. Horrible cost like $ 3 to make and charging $ 11.00 with shredded beef. drenched with a shredded head of lettuce literally with black mushed beans that had no flavor. Shrimp Cocktail — Almost taste like all clamato juice and watery, NOT rich in flavor mixed with a bit of beer it tasted like. Some different ingredients are needed. preferable real ingredients. Elote– WAYTOSWEET not very good at all. All the ingredience it had I asked for what it needed and perfected a ruined corn in a cup… Street Tacos de Bistek– Didn’t offer cilantro or onion, came in 3 little baby corn cortillas, and a dollar more for cheese… I can get 4 regular size for that price at the taco truck with better flavors with all of that. This place is so overly priced and cheap and most of all not good. KIDSFOOD: $ 3.00 Bean and Cheese Taco… for 1… Las Palapas = $ 1.39 at bacon for .59. Overall, I would not recommend anyone to come here. I had expected a lot more. I suggest the competition be scoped out and change the entire menu, and do not serve tourist food in an area where people know and are familiar with real Authentic Mexican street food. this place was just disgusting. Also I did not even eat ¼ of my food as it was horrible it made me sick. wife didn’t even eat her last taco and she had 3 of them… I really hope this helps and I would love to see this place change for the better. Cheers,
M Dawn Q.

The diverse reviews on La Gloria’s piqued my curiosity… so I stopped by for lunch. The exterior is impressive. The colorful mural on the outside wall was being tweeked by painters as I approached. The life size metal Mariachi’s and other statues were delightfully welcoming and I got a happy feeling as I entered. «Bienvenidos» the host greeted me. I indicated I wanted patio seating and he led me outside. I picked a small table placed toward the edge of the pavers. Gardeners were planting a few more trees and the Patio was very relaxing. The Host placed a menu in front of me… and my waitress appeared almost immediately to inquire if I had been there before and… proceeded to explain the menu. The menu is forthright … Spanish followed by an English translation(i.e. Arroz del Dia — Rice of the day). However, people who are not familiar with Mexican Food might not understand what some of the headings(such as Bebidas) mean. The waitress, Nancy, was very thorough, pleasant and engaged. She explained the menu… mentioning the orders were a la carte, she offered suggestions and was very helpful. I was anticipating what the authenticity of the flavors might mean. It has been my personal experience having traveled the interior states of Mexico many times … that the food is simple with mild blended flavors and the choices are limited(sometimes to one item). The Tex-Mex and Cal-Mex are NOT what I would consider to be authentic. People accustomed to the Tex-Mex full spicy hot garlic, onion, jalapeño pepper and tomato flavors(I could drown myself in it) might consider the simplicity of the food lacking in flavor or bland. It is letting your palate reach for the subtle pepper flavor that merges with the salt on the chip… or the right cheese with chile sprinkled on top always simple… mild …and light is what I recall. I ordered Totopos y Salsa $ 5.00: These large chips(more like pita chips in thickness) had very smooth surfaces with little bubbles embedded inside, they had a light crunch and high level of crispness. They also had a nice corn taste, with just the right amount of salt. The Salsa is NOT Tex-Mex. It is a very mild blend of peppers. A Tostada(Frijoles con Aguacate — Bean and avocado $ 4.79): This was very good. The black beans were generously topped with lettuce, tomato and avocado. Taco(3)(Bistec Especial — Grilled chopped beef w/cheese $ 6.29): These are served as three small open tortillas and were good. Shaved corn as a side(Elote — Roasted corn, crema, cotija cheese & chile $ 3.89) was delicious and I put some on my Tostada and Taco’s. The corn was very sweet and succulent and is also available on the cob. Ice Tea $ 3.00.(The Bebidas — beverages were all $ 3.00). The Sodas are made from Cane Sugar and the House Margarita was $ 9.00. I didn’t try one, however the women at the table across from me ordered several and liked them-a lot! Postres? You bet! Flan de Coco — Coconut flan $ 6.59 … OMG sooooo good! I enjoyed my lunch at La Gloria’s. It was the simpler flavors I recalled from my earlier days and travels to the interior States of Mexico. I found the food to be quite authentic. If you are a fan of hot and spicy… and have burned out your taste buds with jalapeño and pequin peppers then this is not for you.

Love la Gloria, my husband anda i like To order de molcajete of arrachera, it is delicious meet marinated in what seems non spicy guajillo peppers, we also love the queso fundido with chorizo and rajas, it’s also very delicious melted cheese full of flavor. The meat of de puerquito hechado is also worth trying. The margaritas are strong and I enjoy the margarita la Gloria and the prickly pear. The restaurant is pretty outside with the tables and surrounded of trees it’s a nice place to relax and enjoy.

This place gets a rare 5-star review. Por que you ask? Because they do everything right. Location is primo for north San Antonio, Dominion, and Fair Oaks Ranch. Parking is woefully inadequate, with many patrons forced to park on the adjacent street or nearby dirt lot. The façade is top-notch and definitely a step up from the original location at Pearl Brewery. Ambiance is relaxed, festive, and laid back. No stuffed shirts, please! Staff are friendly and attentive. The menu is, thankfully, limited and targeted at Mexican street foods. All food here is excellent: fresh, flavorful, authentic Mexican(not nasty Tex-Mex fake stuff), and nicely presented. They have special drinks that are a fresh twist on standards; albeit a bit pricey, they’re large. Sit your butt down, pick 2 or 3 food items and you can’t go wrong. OUTSTANDING. HIGHLYRECOMMENDED.
