Clean place. Extremely good local coffee. Good breakfast. A definite place to revisit.

I think they have a good breakfast croissant but they stop breakfast at 10:30am even on the weekend! Walked in once right at 10:30& they couldn’t serve us breakfast.

The food is decent enough. However, do you need to start cleaning the dining room at 6:30 pm? You close at 8:00 pm, at least Monday through Thursday. Close at 4:00 pm Friday through Sunday. And that annoying vacuum cleaner! We’re trying to eat here. The music is decent, too. But you can’t hear it because of that damn vacuum. The early cleaning must be so you can run out at 8pm, because I’ve seen the place be dark at barely 8:05 pm some evenings. I get you want to leave, but geez.

Great sandwich selection and unique coffees. I got the Turbacca(turkey, bacon, avocado) panini and red velvet roast. The restaurant is similar to Panera, but better

I have been here 3 times. The coffee is fine if you like it black. The croissants are bad and the bagels are the worst I’ve ever had. Bagels from the store for $ 1.50 a bag are 10x better than this absolutely horrible and tasteless excuse for a bagel. Fresh baked my @$$! I’ve had them toasted and I’ve had them plain dry. Both are terrible. I wouldn’t pay a quarter for this complete trash. I absolutely do not recommend this place to anyone unless you just want coffee. The coffee is about average but I can see people saying its worse because for me its really hard to find a bad cup of coffee.

Very decent food, nothing wowed me, but was very much what I was expecting. The Turkey Artichoke Panini was great, and the Tomato Basil soup was fine, but maybe a bit too sweet? That, however, could be my own personal preference. Very clean inside, and the service was also very good. Food came out quite fast. I look forward to coming back and trying out a few more items on the vast menu.

This place is a good local place, with delicious sandwiches. a café like atmosphere with plenty of seating, to include outdoor seating. The ranch hand panini was filling and full of flavor. There could have been a bit more roast beef, but still filling with the complimentary bag. I got a large cappuccino, which I was not a fan of. Perhaps it was my fault, but getting a large I felt like the proportion of milk to espresso was too much. Again, perhaps it was my fault. The chocolate chip cookie I received was soft and subtle sweet but not salty. I would recommend this place if in the area. Very solid meal choice, with, any options.

Hearthstone is the only bakery in San Antonio that I ever buy scones from. I love baked goods but I am particular about scones. Some places treat it like cornbread making it overly sweet or else they go wrong with the icing or filling making it more like a hostess fried pie and if that’s your thing then you’ll find a lot of places that will make«scones» like that. Hearthstone makes a real scone and their chocolate chip scone is the stuff of food dreams. Their scone is biscuit like and peppered with the right amount of chips, with one side of the exterior face«coated» with coarse sugar. I like the cranberry offering as well but only get it if they run out of chocolate which happens a lot because it’s so good! My kids love their breakfast croissant sandwiches and are particularly happy when we visit. The only reason I didn’t give them 5 stars is because of their coffee. I mean it’s not terrible, but it really good be great and it should be considering their food. In fact I would say their coffee is surprisingly mediocre. Service wise, maybe not the friendliest staff. Don’t expect to get any free smiles from this lot, but they are not rude… They’re just humorless and nonsense. The dining areas are nice and clean. The atmosphere is more urbane adult eatery than kid/family dining.

Never had a bad experience with Hearthstone. I go here twice weekly, and the Turbacca never fails to satisfy me. The wait is never long, and the staff never disappoints. Hearthstone is a place I will continue to frequent in all of my food adventures around Texas!

The best restaurant for a great Panini. The Turkey Artichoke blows any other Panini out of the water. The service is always great. They are helpful, consistent, and sweet. The food is fresh and always appetizing. I am not sure a lengthy review will do Hearthstone justice! I will always have this as number one for a great lunch!

Ordered the oatmeal with mixed fruit. Being that its a bakery and almost $ 5 I would expect the oatmeal to be freshly made and not instant oatmeal which is what they serve. I also would expect fresh fruit but they give you dried fruit instead. Then the guy who«made» my oatmeal grabbed a dirty spoon from the sink, used his finger to «clean» it and stirred the oatmeal.

Ordered here for lunch twice with my Coworkers. First time I got their meatball sandwich, bread pudding, and cherry pie. For 8 dollars I was hoping for a great tasting sandwich. Instead it was a plain bun with plain meatballs and marinara sauce and a little bit of mozorella cheese. It was absolutely NOT worth the price. Nonetheless I was excited about the individual sized desserts. If u follow me u know I live bread pudding and I’m always on the hunt for great ones. This bread pudding LOOKED good but tasted very very dry and flavorless. I was so disappointed. I ate 2 bites and threw it away! The cherry pie was also not even sweet. The crust on it was not at all good… so my first experience sucked. My first time was about 2 months ago. Today My Coworker decided to order from here again. In sick today so I decided I would try the soup and grilled cheese. Once again the sandwich wasn’t work 6 dollars. I make better grilled cheese than that. And for a bakery I expected something better. It was so blan… i was excited about the bacon but when I got it the bacon was soooooo thin that you didn’t even realize it was in the sandwich. It was just disappointing. I also got the chicken tortilla soup. Omg, this soup was beyond salty! I tried adding the sour cream provided but it barely helped. I then decided to dip my sandwich in the soup and eat it that way. That helped since the sandwich had tomatoe in it which somewhat balanced it out. However once the sandwich was gone it was just a plain bowl of salty soup. I threw it away. Overall I will never eat here again. I don’t like wasting my money!

If their chicken salad sandwich were the last thing on a deserted island to eat, I would throw it in the ocean. Dry, shredded chicken is not chicken salad.

Great lunch special. In and out quick for a soup and sandwich. Prefect for a weekday lunch. Turkey panini was warm and soup was as well.

Great little every for people seeking health eating options. Absolutely tasty tomato basil soup. We had paninis which were delicious. Not too much cheese and made tastefully. The bread seemed very fresh and my guess is they make it right there but I may be wrong. Awesome regardless. Lots of space, friendly staff, lots of veggie options, good parking situation! Would definitely go back!

This is one VERY spacious restaurant— so there yah go! No need to worry about seating. Although, I sat outside on the small patio because it was freaking cold inside. You can order between cold sandwiches, hot panini’s, and wraps(all served with a pickle and a choice between chips/cookie). Soups and sides are a la carte, meaning, you’ll need to pay up dat extra dollahhhh. My meal? ‘wich + side= $ 10. Boom. I got the Olympian panini, vegetarian style(portabellas instead of chicken. & btw– you can substitute portabellas to any of the sandwiches/panini/wraps), with a side of pesto pasta salad. Everything was pretty solid, good flavors, nicely pressed hot panini, decent amount of ‘wich toppings, average pasta salad. It’s definitely a good choice for a casual lunch if you happen to be in the area. I’ve had some amazing sandwiches in my life, and this didn’t have the ‘wow’ factor. BUUUUUT, it got the job done, I was in the area(and hangry– so hungry I became angry), I devoured my food, and continued on my merry way. So. You walk in, order at the counter and pay, they’ll give you a buzzer, go sit down, when your buzzer buzzes go pick up your food, eat your food, throw away your trash and stash the tray. Casual, yes? I would probably return if I happen to drive by it while hangry. Otherwise, nahh.

Outstanding! My fiancé and I stopped in for lunch and I’m so glad we did. I think I may have stumbled upon my new favorite lunch spot. From the moment we walked in the staff were very welcoming and helpful. I order the Gobbler(turkey, cheese, lettuce, tomato and cranberry mayo on a marbled bread), and a balsamic salad. It was all delicious. The bread tasted homemade and fresh. My fiancé had the meatball sub and said it was the best he had ever had. Lastly, we ordered a couple of cookies to go. Again, tasted homemade and fresh. A tad bit pricey(equivalent to Panera or Jason’s Deli), but so totally worth every penny given the high quality and fresh ingredients used. Support a local business!

I like going to Hearthstone because I can find a good, delicious sandwich that’s reasonably priced. They also have delicious salads and soups, and cookies are HUGE and baked in house. They also make pretty good coffee drinks. My only complaint about this place is the hours. I tried to come here one Saturday to study(yes, they do have free wifi), but I was kicked off the patio at 5PM, saying they were closing. The hours are not that great, and that’s why I deducted 1 star. I went to have lunch the other day and I saw that they were limiting their hours even more! :(
